The Original Open World Driving Game Was Originally Scheduled To Arrive In Sept 2022!

Nacon has declared that development of Test Drive Unlimited: Solar Crown has been pushed into 2023 and that the last-generation versions of the game have all been cancelled from development.

From a recent blog post, the developer stated that its “goal with Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown is to make it the most polished gaming experience in the franchise by spending more time on its development”.

Nacon’s “Test Drive Unlimited: Solar Crown” was previously scheduled to be released in September 2022 for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.

Nacon confirmed on Wednesday that the new entry in the long running open world driving franchise will no longer be released for Microsoft‘s and Sony‘s last-generation consoles.

“Finally, with the aim of making the most of the technology in the latest consoles and maximising the overall quality of the game, Nacon has decided to no longer develop Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.”

Nacon also revealed that it is working towards a timeline for several closed betas. While the studio didn’t confirm when these tests would take place, they said the tests would allow them “to gather your valuable feedback so we can keep improving the game’s quality until it releases, while also staying in more regular contact with you”.

Test Drive Unlimited: Solar Crown was Unveiled in July 2020, the third game in the long-running Test Drive franchise’s open-world Unlimited sub-series promises to let players get to grips with “extraordinary cars” within Hong Kong “a luxurious island world recreated at 1:1 scale”.

“The brand new Test Drive Unlimited keeps the DNA from the first games, and revamps it for the modern era,” promises the blurb accompanying a trailer released last April.

“You have the freedom to progress however you like, the classic open championship concept returns too. Live your best life. Race, cruise, and hang out with your friends until the sun goes down and even after!”

The action role-playing game has managed to sell over 1 million copies already as well as recoup all its costs in the first week of sale

Against all odds, Biomutant is shaping up to be quite the game.

If you don’t know, Biomutant is an action role-playing game developed by Swedish developer Experiment 101 and published by THQ Nordic. The game was initially released on May 25 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC, and managed to break even within the first week of sales. This comes in from Embracer Group’s Interium Q1 2021 financial results.

The action RPG is a post-apocalyptic Kung-Fu fable, with unique martial art styled combat system allowing to mix melee, shooting and mutant ability action. Players have to explore the world and decide whether they want to be the world’s saviour from the plague that’s ruining the land or lead it into a darker destiny.

The game sold so well in its first week that it not only covered the development and marketing costs, but it also covered the money Embracer spent acquiring its developer and Biomutant IP.

This is exceptionally noteworthy as many critics didn’t give much praise to the game, and even some fans rated it lowly on sites like Metacritic.

Yet the game has made the “1 million copies sold” milestone within 3 months of being released, with no previous games attached and is a debut title from the developer, it certainly says something.
