Friday the 13th’s Jason Voorhees arrives on the game next month!

Calling all horror fans! The crazed, masked killer will be slicing and dicing his way on to Mortal Kombat X next month, as a playable fighter. However, NetherRealm did not reveal any game-play or special moves from the killer, but only the date, which is 5th May. 

Through the game’s $30 Kombat Pack, Jason is the first of four DLC characters. All are able to try the four characters for FREE, but a price will need to be paid to have them as permanent members in the game. Tremor, Tanya and Predator are the remaining three characters which will become available in time.

Mortal Kombat X’s launch trailer is now available to watch, and uses System of a Down’s ‘Chop Suey’!

Yesterday saw the release of Mortal Kombat X’s launch trailer, from NetherRealm Studios and Warner Bros. What’s more, for all you System of a Down fans out there, the video was directed by the band’s very own Shavo Odadjian and features the classic song ‘Chop Suey’.

This trailer is one of those which you MUST watch to the end (due to a particularly gruesome fatality) and sees the comeback of many a character, as well as new ones. 

Don’t forget that the release date for the game is next Tuesday 14th April 2015, and will be available for the PS4, Xbox One and PC. The PS3 and Xbox 360 versions, however, have currently been delayed. You can watch the launch trailer HERE!

Mortal Kombat X

The fatalities in this game sound like goo, apparently?!

Mortal Kombat X has some horrifying fatalities, I think we can all agree there, but the sound effects behind them seem to be just as grizzly! NetherRealm, the developer of the game, held a LIVE broadcast which was aptly named “Kombatcast”. This broadcast shed light on some new information about the game, as well as a look behind the scenes of the much anticipated fighting game.

In the video, which you can watch below, you can see exactly what went into the foley work (the process of recording sound effects). NetherRealm appear to be using green goo and a toilet plunger in the video, to aid those grim fatality scenes. Other sound effects include destroying nuts and vegetables with a hammer. These guys clearly know no bounds!

NetherRealm also discusses how it created the game’s music and other improvements it’s introducing to Mortal Kombat X, so the video is definitely worth watching if you’re a fan of the series. If you’re an avid fan of the series then this video is definitely something you should watch… Or just if  you’re a fan of smashing food with hammers and messing about with slime!
