In need of a new party game for Christmas? You’ve come to the right place…

Ever since I learned we would be getting a new Big Brain Academy game later this year, I haven’t been the same. The brainteasing series that made its debut on Nintendo DS in 2007 and was closely followed by a Wii edition, has now made a comeback on the Nintendo Switch and it’s only a day away from its release.

Big Brain Academy: Brain vs. Brain is the latest instalment in the Big Brain Academy series and is packed with a medley of mind-melting puzzles that will transport you right back to where it all began…

Big Brain Academy: Brain vs. Brain Review

Big Brain Academy: Brain vs. Brain is already different from its predecessors as the game focuses almost exclusively on the multiplayer modes available. The game still has the structure players will be familiar with- a collection of mini-games where each of the games is divided into five different categories: identify, memorize, analyze, compute, and visualize- yet there are a lot more options available for multiplayer.

There’s still a single-player mode that feels almost like a warm-up for the party mode, giving you “tests” that involves each of the five categories. Players can also compete against the ghosts of either friends or players online if they choose to do so.

One of the mini-games available involves popping numbered balloons in the correct order, while another has you choosing the right shapes to complete an image. The games are simple to start off with but offer a nice progression as you continue to play, so they work well for a timed competition where you’re trying to solve problems as quickly as possible. Just don’t let it turn into a screaming match when you’re trying to be the first to identify a slowly unravelling photo of a zebra when it gets intense…

Source: Nintendo

What’s great about Big Brain Academy: Brain vs. Brain compared to other party games is each player gets to choose their own difficulty when playing against one other to make it easier to balance the experience for people of different ages. It’s certainly an improvement from the previous games in the series and certainly different to other party games like Mario Kart 8, WarioWare and Mario Party.

Big Brain Academy: Brain vs. Brain comes out on December 3.

The Jackbox Party Pack 8 has finally announced its release date and it will be coming out just in time for Christmas

If you ever need to liven up a party or social event, just load up the ol’ Jackbox Party Pack and you are guaranteed to be in a great time of fun. It’s one of my favourite party games and with 7 packs to choose from, you are constantly spoiled for choice.

And now a new contender has entered the scene. The Jackbox Party Pack 8 is expected to hit digital shelves on October 14 and I cannot wait to try out these new games.

The Jackbox Party Pack 8

If you haven’t been introduced to The Jackbox Party Pack series before, don’t worry, you don’t need to start from the beginning. it’s a series of party video games developed by Jackbox Games, with each new pack has different party games to choose from such as Drawful, Trivia Murder Party, Fibbage, Blather Round and so much more.

Some party packs throw in some brand new games that players have never encountered before, and some add sequels or revamped versions of beloved classics. The Jackbox Party Pack 8 has a little bit of both for us in store.

Drawful Animate: Yes, the best drawing game is back with a new and exciting twist! Players must create two-frame animations while others try to guess what they are (3-10 players).

Job Job: Players must create answers to job questions based on words provided by other players, the perfect practice for those challenging job interviews. (3-10 players).

Weapons Drawn: One that has caught my eye for sure… a social deduction game where everyone is the murderer and detective, players must draw the clues while trying to solve murders and hide their own (4-8 players).

The Poll Mine: A team-based game where players must answer opinion-based questions with the answers ranked individually by your team, in an effort to escape a mine. Definitely set to ruffle a few feathers… (2-10 players).

The Wheel of Enormous Proportions: Players spin a mystical wheel and answer trivia questions, but chance plays a big part in whether you’ll, which will also ruffle a few feathers from the sore losers (me) (4-8 players).

The Jackbox Party Pack 8 will be available for PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Apple TV and Amazon Fire TV on October 14.

Wario Ware: Get it Together! Released (The countdown was painful…).

Ah, Wario Ware…I still remember the days of playing Wario Ware on Gamecube and Nintendo DS. It was literally endless fun, despite some mini-games repeating themselves, it was always fun to go through them because the experience felt different each time. This notorious party game is coming to Nintendo Switch THIS WEEK.

https://twitter.com/SuperMario_UK/status/1435150909676326913

What is Wario Ware: Get It Together?

If you don’t know what Wario Ware: Get It Together! Is, it’s a party game filled with many micro mini-games that are fast-paced and filled with absolute chaos. Developed by Nintendo. It’s the 10th game in the Wario Ware series. Wario Ware: Get It Together! Has over 200 micro minigames and usually with a ticking-time-bomb behind you.

“When his latest hare-brained business scheme goes awry, Wario must use his signature style (and smell) to fix it. How? By playing twisted collection microgames of course! From assembling a robot to pulling out a statue’s armpit hair, the Wario Ware: Get It Together! game is a comedic, cooperative microgame mashup.”

Not to mention there are multiple gameplay modes, story mode, Variety Pack, Wario Cup and Play-o-pedia. However, you must clear a number of stages in Story Mode to unlock all the other gameplay modes, which is reasonable…I mean, it’s so fun, who wouldn’t want to go through the process?! It also gives us a little taste and nostalgia for those of us who had no friends to play with back in the day…Ah yes, the wonderful moments of the gamer’s solitude.
