A remake of the cult classic ‘Lollipop Chainsaw’has been announced by Dragami games.

Publisher Dragami games has announced that it is developing a remake of the cult-classic action game Lollipop Chainsaw.

The remake is slated for a 2023 release however no consoles have been announced for the game to be released on so far.

Yoshimi Yasuda was previously the CEO of the company Kadokawa Games, which published Lollipop Chainsaw. He was also the executive producer on the game.

Yasuda left Kadokawa Games recently, and established a new company ‘Dragami Games’ , and now he has confirmed that remaking Lollipop Chainsaw is one of the company’s first projects.

In a tweet posted online , Yasuda said: “Unfortunately, various factors resulted in things making it so that fans can no longer easily play Lollipop Chainsaw, and it has been some time since players have not been able to access the game on current consoles.”

He also goes on to say:

We, the original development staff on Lollipop Chainsaw, think of the game as very precious to us, and did not want to leave it in limbo, where players who want to play it cannot.

Yasuda purchased the intellectual property rights from Kadokawa games, so they could remake the game. He also contacted  Warner Bros [who were the game publishers outside of Asia] about development, and are being supported by them to remake the game.

Yasuda said that while most of the original staff are working on the remake, some parts of the game will be different from the original ,released just over 10 years ago.

For example, many of the licensed tracks from the original soundtrack will have to be substituted with new original music.

He then talks more about the remake:

“Additionally, since we have access to consoles with higher specifications, we will be taking a more realistic approach to the graphics this time.” This could make the game seem very different, as the originals wacky charm was only exemplified by the arcade look and feel.

“In any case, our goal is to make it easier for gamers who want to play Lollipop Chainsaw to do so. Please look forward to the game’s 2023 release.”

The game was originally released in 2012 for ps3 and Xbox 360, and never saw a re-release or a PC release.

Some of you may be too young to remember the original from 2003 or didn’t get the opportunity to experience it. Still, the Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic remake has been announced via Playstation’s September showcase. If you were one of those that didn’t play the original, and you’re a Star Wars fan, then it’s time to get excited. Regarded as one of the greatest RPG games of all time and in much need of this remake. The irony of the announcement is the original was exclusive to Xbox, whilst as of now, the remake is destined to be played on PS5 and PC with no official news on an Xbox release.

The rumours have been circulating online for years, fans begging Lucasfilm Games for this very thing. Original fans and new alike can experience the beauty of this formidable game once more. The level of customisation and ability to stray towards the light or dark side of the force gave players the freedom to decide how their individual stories played out. Much similar to the Fable series.

The critical detail from the Playstation Showcase is that the game is a remake and not a remaster. Earlier this year, the Mass Effect series received a remaster, the graphics were enhanced, but the gameplay was the same, along with the story. This is a remake that makes it that much more exciting for the thousands of Star Wars fans globally. Gameplay should be enhanced, more refined details to the story and a further immersive platform to explore.

Ryan Treadwell, a lead producer at Aspyr game studios, spoke in depth about the remake to IGN, clarifying that the developers aren’t just solely that, but also fans of Star Wars. When asked if it was just a remaster, he responded, “It’s so much more. This is a complete remake of this beloved Star Wars story. We are rebuilding from the ground up while maintaining the story and character from the original.” Precisely what most fans will want to hear. Treadwell continued, “we want to honour that story and make it as impactful for players today in terms of the visuals we have an opportunity to present with a much higher level of fidelity than in the past while making sure that we’re being authentic to what players loved about that original game.” Exciting news from Aspyr studios.

The trailer may only be a minute and seven seconds long, but the iconic sound of Star Wars kicking off the showcase caught everyone by surprise, and Twitter’s Star Wars fans had a lot to say about it. All being well, Lucasfilm Games and Aspyr can fulfil the fans’ expectations and produce a remake that fans of the franchise can play over and over for many years to come. However, with no set date yet, it could be a long-anticipated wait to finally get playing this legendary remake.

We’ve been more than 10-years waiting, 3 console releases later, but it’s finally happened… RPG & Final Fantasy fans, rejoice! Final Fantasy VII is finally getting a HD remake for PlayStation 4.

Square Enix announced the news during Sony’s press conference at E3 – bringing truth to the many rumors. It is unconfirmed whether the game will get any other consoles releases, but the trailer reads ‘Play it first on PlayStation 4’, meaning Xbox One & PC players may have a long wait.

With that said, there is no confirmed release date as yet. While Square Enix have confirmed that they’ve begun production on the remake, PS4 players may still have a long wait ahead.
