The Walking Dead’s Rick Grimes makes his Fortnite debut just in time for Fortnitemares, the game’s annual Halloween event.

Fortnite’s Newest Arrival

Fortnite, the popular Battle Royale game, continues to evolve with new seasons and content. Over the last year, the game has been increasingly reliant on crossover events involving characters and brands from other media to differentiate itself from its competing Battle Royale titles such as Call of Duty: Warzone and Apex Legends. Companies like Disney have greatly aided Epic Games’ success in this strategy, not only by providing new skins of Marvel and Star Wars characters, but also by participating in limited time modes and seasons.

Epic hasn’t only been dependant on huge names for its crossovers and has managed to include a variety of unexpected characters such as Halo’s Master Chief and God of War protagonist Kratos. Mike Lowry from Bad Boys, Rick and Morty, as well as numerous musical artists, have all participated in the crossover material. Now, one of AMC’s most popular programmes, The Walking Dead, is introducing one of its most well-known characters to Fortnite.

Rick Grimes is now available for purchase in the game’s item shop for 1,500 V-bucks, according to a tweet from Fortnite. The Walker Club harvesting tool, the Sheriff’s Duffle back bling, and the rare Crashing Satellite glider are also available for 500 V-bucks. For a reduced price of 1,900 V-bucks, players may get a bundle pack that includes everything.

Rick Grimes is not the first character from The Walking Dead cast to join Fortnite’s roster, with Darryl Dixon and Michonne also previously making appearances. They were both originally available back in December, and have made a reappearance in the Survivors in Arms bundle, which is available for 2,500 V-Bucks. The pack also includes their back bling and alternate costumes.

Fortnitemare’s Halloween Event is Live!

The new addition is dropped with good timing as Fortnite’s annual Halloween themed event started this week and will go on until the end of October. There will be a whole variety of Halloween costumes for players to enjoy. While the event is running new Halloween skins will be featured in the shop every week, and its uncertain if there will be a particular pattern to when these are released. This means it is important to check frequently to make sure you don’t miss out on any of your favourite skins.

The Cubes will continue their campaign to dominate the Battle Royale map later this month. This will include a new Sideways weapon, reintroduced Halloween goods, and a reintroduced LTM. Players may also win free prizes by completing  Cube Challenges.

The spooky season is upon us and with all of the recent announcements, it has been a good month for Fortnite fans!

Walking Dead Tie-Ins, TellTale’s Definitive Edition and More!

Epic Games has been releasing ‘Fortune Cards’ revealing clues to potential additions to the game this season, though I’d say it’s a missed opportunity to call them ‘Fortunite Cards’. One featured in the above thumbnail of this blog includes an oddly familiar sheriff-looking hat design that AMC’s Walking Dead fans will recognize as belonging to the protagonist, Rick Grimes. He’s dropped the hat for more recent seasons in exchange for a more gruff post-apocalyptic gritty look, but I’ll let you be the judge of which looks better.

Sharper eyes than mine have also made out the fact that this Rick Grimes card features weapons emblematic of various other Walking Dead characters: Michonne’s katana, Negan’s bat ‘Lucille’ and if you squint really hard, you may also see Shovel Knight’s sh- Okay, not necessarily that one, but come on, Shovel Knight with a gun would be a hilarious opportunity for ‘parry this’ memes! I mean, if the Stonks man gets it’s own skin, why not diversify a little? Food for thought.

In addition to this, there have been rumblings of a potential re-inclusion of Fortnite’s mech suit gameplay featured in Season 1 – Chapter 10 depending on popular vote. One of said votes saw the return of the shockwave launcher, which is a win for me, since I never used that one before. Variety is the spice of life after all. Personally, I’m incredibly fond of the rolly-ball wooshy swinger-noodle, to use the technical term, so fingers crossed they bring that one back at some point.

Speaking of new and old additions, Rick Grimes isn’t even the first Walking Dead character in Fortnite! Michonne and Daryl Dixon are also purchasable skins with alternate costumes and unique harvesting tools, so I bet my bottom those two will come to the store as part of a bundle once Ricky G up top gets announced.

Walking Dead’s New TV Direction and Possible Negan News:

The show will be ending with it’s current 11th season, however, actor Jeffery Dean Morgan has stated a Negan spin-off series could be in the works. Sounds like a great idea to me considering 99% of why I binged the show with my brother back in the day was so we would be prepped for the Negan hype and his performance did not disappoint in the slightest. My only request would be to make it a musical, because I would pay good money to see Negan belting out a Disney-Villain-esque solo about his whirlwind romance with Lucille!

It is a good day for The Walking Dead fans as AMC have released a new preview video for the seventh season which is upcoming.

The video featured something weird as Daryl Dixon’s motorcycle is being ridden but not by Daryl Dixon himself. This could be worrying for Dixon’s fans as the person who is riding the zombie slayers bike is also wearing Daryl’s trademark vest.
