In an interview with The Verge, Super Smash Bros creator Masahiro Sakurai claimed that if another Smash game were to be made, it would have to have a smaller roster.

“I think we’ve reached the limit, at least in terms of volume and content and fighters […] If I were to have the opportunity to work on another Super Smash Bros. game, that means we would have to shrink the roster, but we need to think about whether fans would be pleased about that” – Masahiro Sakurai.

To briefly recap some of my past covering of Sakurai and Smash news, has been considering retirement in large part due to the intense workload of his job, while also stating that there is still potential another Super Smash Bros game could be made as long as he’s leading the production.

Since then, Sakurai has admitted he would be comfortable having less creative control, as ‘I’ve been doing too much of the work myself’ and his words about not wanting to restrict the series’ longevity by focusing on “just one man’s vision” is very pleasing to hear. Also quite the coincidence I find out about this the day after my brief aside about having to (metaphorically) “kill your darlings” in my article covering The Last Of Us TV show news and Neil Druckmann’s involvement… Speaking of brief asides, here’s something for any Quentin Tarantino fans reading this!

As far as (hypothetically) shrinking the Smash Bros roster goes, I highly doubt that will be the case, as Sakurai mainly seems to cite technological limitations as the reason for keeping the roster at it’s current maximum. Considering the rise of things like Nintendo releasing the OLED Switch (psst, which we have!) and tech in general improving at a steady rate, we may well be able to make fighting games with rosters in the hundreds in a few years give-or-take.

Speaking of fighting games… Capcom, Marvel, DC, NetherRealm, JUST MAKE OUT ALREADY! The Mortal Kombat folks got into punch-ups with DC superheroes that one time. The Marvel superheros got into punch-ups with the Street Fighter cast… Well, multiple times actually- Y’all should do a four-way crossover, wouldn’t that be something.

Me wanting Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat to crossover because they both have spin-off games fighting different Superhero squads

Product Poems:

There was once an AMIIBO called Bowser, called Lucas to talk about flowers. With a hand-each from Lottie, Tom Nook’s favorite totty, they said “let’s give these buds a shower”.

As if the Amiibo shortage wasn’t bad enough, it appears a whole truckload has now disappeared into the ether. Nintendo has confirmed that a truck carrying a shipment of Splatoon Special Edition with Splatoon Squid Inkling amiibo figurines has been stolen.

Nintendo UK have provided the following statement:

We can confirm that the lorry transporting the Splatoon stock from Nintendo’s European warehouse to GAME UK has been stolen. Included as part of this delivery was GAME’s allocation of the Splatoon + Squid Inkling amiibo and as a result we are unable to honour pre-orders for this item in GAME. We are working with GAME to contact those customers affected. Whilst these unfortunate circumstances were out of Nintendo UK and GAME’s control, we apologise for any inconvenience or disappointment that this has caused.

This is both bad news for GAME and bad news for customers hoping to get their hands on the special edition for release.

According to MCV UK, GAME are offering customers the chance to purchase the standard edition title in its place with a 10% discount, or a cancellation.

Well, it seems these limited edition Amiibos just got a little more limited…

New Nintendo 3DS

Expect to see this beauty on the shelves on 13th February 2015 in the UK!

The latest hardware was announced on 29th August 2014 and integrates a number of new innovations and features, these mainly being a new analogue control stick, more computing power, two new buttons, Amiibo integration, and changeable cover plates. As with the original 3DS, this latest version will come in both standard and XL, which will both feature faster processing and revised controls.

In addition to this new controller, the 3DS incorporates third and fourth back trigger buttons, the ZR and ZL buttons, conveniently located for use with the new analogue stick. As we can see from this, the handheld console harbours dimensions similar to current hardware. We can expect a wider 3D viewing angle, which will provide far less blurring when looked at from the side. Computing power has also been expanded by brand new internal can you buy viagra online hardware. Fancy!

The New 3DS integrates NFC connectivity into the bottom touch-screen, allowing Nintendo’s Amiibo figurines to be placed directly on the display to interact with the software. What’s more (and I’m sure that this is everyone’s favourite part of any handheld hardware), the latest version of the 3DS’ shell allows changeable cover plates, so that you may easily customise the physical appearance of your very own piece. Among the new cover plate designs are a variety of Mario-themed designs, including iconic mushrooms and a nifty wood grain throwback design.

What’s not to love about the latest version of the 3DS?! A console and screen all-in-one! It’ll be made available in the UK on 13th February 2015.
