Many elements have contributed to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game’s continued relevance over the previous 26 years. Constant releases with new monsters and archetypes that try to shake the game up each set, as well as diverse formats for the game’s many players, can be found in anime like Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS. Yu-Gi-Oh! has lacked a real digital card game simulator – other than Duel Links –  for itself over the years, but that has changed with the release of Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel.

Today Konami released the long awaited digital version of the Master Duel format of Yu-Gi-Oh! which follows the traditional TCG rules of the game.

There has been a rising demand for tabletop games like Monopoly or even Dungeons & Dragons to be transformed into an easier, digitalized version where the rules of the game are processed automatically by a computer since the emergence of PC games. Other TCGs, such as Pokémon, have long followed suit, and even digital-only card games like Hearthstone have benefited from the trend. Yu-Gi-Oh! released a couple of comparable games, although they were all more like video game adaptations than true digital versions.

Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel gets Surprise Release!

Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel was unveiled in July with the goal of eventually filling that void in the Yu-Gi-Oh portfolio. The game has already been confirmed for future World Championships events, as well as a substantial story mode focused on YGO card lore rather than the plot from the franchise’s several anime seasons and spin-offs. And now, much to the amazement of fans, it has been launched without warning across all platforms.

The game is free to play and employs gems as a currency for an in-game shop, like Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links. Players can pay real-world cash to cover gems in-game, or they can simply accomplish special event objectives or story tasks to earn gems for free.  These gems are used to buy packs, create decks, and cosmetic accessories.

I’ve spent a little bit of time with the game so far and can say that the game is not stingy when it comes to giving gems as a reward, but whether this remains the case long term we will see.

Master Duel is here, and it’s built to be the ultimate definitive version of Yu-Gi-Oh! on consoles for hardcore players, after many years of fans longing for a real means to interact with others to enjoy one of their favourite card games. It’s good to see the gap finally filled after Konami shut down previous fan efforts for years with nothing to take their place.

Some players, however, may see this as yet another way for Konami to profit from Yu-Gi-Oh’s long-lasting popularity, given how loyal players will need to spend gems and possibly real money to ensure they own their favourite cards in both Master Duel and Duel Links, as well as any of the other upcoming titles like Yu-Gi-Oh! Cross Duel. For now, though things are looking good for Master Duel.

Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Switch, and mobile devices.

Bandai Namco revealed today that the game with a perplexingly punctuated  title coming to the Nintendo Switch.

.hack/G.U. Last Recode is a remastered trilogy of the original JRPGs. There will also be an extra fourth chapter called “Reconnection”. This will serve as an epilogue for the game. Rebirth, Reminisce, and Redemption are the other three chapters, all of which are set in an in-world MMORPG where if you die in the game, you might fall into a coma in real life.

What is .hack/G.U.?

The franchise already has a remastered edition available on PS4 and PC which has received some mixed reviews. The .hack/G.U. Last Recode release on PS4/Switch was a good attempt to bring an older franchise into the modern era. All the enhancements added were not only necessary, but also welcomed. It can be said there are some  design flaws from its age, but that can be said about any modern recreation of an old game.

In .hack/G.U., the battle system has always been real-time rather than turn-based. When the player faces monsters in G.U., an arena opens in which the characters can attack and dodge their opponents. Players usually have the option of bringing two other NPCs into battle with them. There are a variety of healers, tanks, and mages to pick from, creating a diverse roster to mix up gameplay.

The remastered version on Switch is intended to commemorate the .hack franchise’s 20th anniversary, with the first .hack game, Infection, being released on the PS2 in Japan on June 20th, 2002.

The Switch version of .hack/G.U. Last Recode will be released in Japan and South-East Asia on March 10th, 2022, and March 11th for North America and Europe.

Currently pegged as an exclusive to the PS4 and PC, we’ve just received the first glimpse of the legendary fighting game’s new and improved battle system.

The legendary fighting franchise plan to introduce cross-platform play in the latest release, uniting Street Fighter fans into a single, centralised player base for the first time ever! This is in addition to an ambitious online beta project, which is yet to be fully announced.

Battlefield
The next 2016 instalment will be going back to it’s military-style roots

Last month the next Battlefield game, set to release in 2016, was announced. Unlike Battlefield: Hardline, the game will be returning to it’s military roots which the series is best known for.

EA CFO Blake Jorgensen made a comment during the 2014 UBS Global Technology Conference, saying that the next instalment seems to be shaping up to be a “fun, new Battlefield.” He also stated that, “That will be a return to a Battlefield military-style game; more to come on that,”.

 “We want to give Battlefield 4 and Battlefield where can i buy viagra connect Hardline players more time to enjoy these games and immerse themselves in a game, the live service, and the community.” voiced the EA CEO Andrew Wilson last month, on the subject of why EA is not annualising the Battlefield series like Activision is with Call of Duty. 

March 2015 will be seeing the next core Battlefield game, Hardline. There will be no new Battlefield title for holiday 2015 but, fear not, EA will be releasing it’s Star Wars: Battlefront game during this period and both of these games are being developed by DICE.
