Export sanctions on “dual-use” items which could have civilian or military uses cease its sales in Russia

Tech companies around the world have recently suspended deliveries to Russia in compliance with international sanctions over the country’s recent invasion of Ukraine. The sanctions, announced by the Biden Administration on February 24, cover restrictions on the sale of semiconductors and computers.

The sanctions are also an expansion of the Foreign Direct Product Rule, which forces tech companies who work with American-made tools and software to obtain a license from the US government before dealing with companies that support the Russian military.

AMD and Intel have  halted sales of processors to Russia already following Russia’s recent war declaration, with Intel providing the following statement to PC Gamer’s sister site, Tom’s Hardware: “Intel complies with all applicable export regulations and sanctions in the countries in which it operates, including the new sanctions issued by OFAC [Office of Foreign Assets Control] and the regulations issued by BIS [Bureau of Industry and Security].”

While Russia has its own chip designers, companies like Baikal Electronics are reliant on outsourced fabrication. And on February 27, the Economy Ministry of Taiwan, home to major chip manufacturer TSMC, announced it was joining the list of countries imposing sanctions on Russia. “Domestic semiconductor manufacturers have also expressed that they will abide by the laws and closely cooperate with government measures,” the Ministry said.

Various game studios, such as CD Projekt, Bungie, 11 Bit Studios, Amanita Design, Digital Extremes, and Hinterland Games, have pledged support for Ukraine, making donations to humanitarian aid efforts like the Ukrainian Red Cross.

For this past week, the Capcom Countdown had been leading to games that many Capcom fans have been speculating about. Going to it would only yield a gray background with a white timer, saying 06 Days 15 Hours, for example. After much time had passed and many speculations had been made, just before the announcement of Street Fighter 6, the Capcom Fighting Collection had been announced.

The Capcom Fighting Collection puts ten iconic fighting games from Capcom’s into one convenient collection, all of them equipped with online play, rollback netcode, lobby systems, and more. Check out the trailer below:

The Capcom Fighting Collection brings legends from Capcom’s arcade days back with new features suited for this online generation; each one of the games is faithfully reproduced to play as they did back in the arcades. In addition, each of the games will now support rollback netcode so players can battle their friends from across the world without much issue.

The games included in the Capcom Fighting Collection are the following:

• Vampire Savior
• Vampire Savior 2
• Darkstalkers
• Night Warriors
• Vampire Hunter 2
• Cyberbots
• Red Earth
• Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo
• Hyper Street Fighter II
• Super Gem Fighter -Mini Mix-

Each of the games will also bring several “Quality of Life” updates that will make the gaming experience much more accesible for newer players. Each game will have features such as CPU Difficulty Settings, Quick Saves, and Button Customization options. That way, players can customize their fighting game experience to their liking.

Red Earth will also be featured. This game from 1996 is finally going to make its debut on PC and home consoles through the Capcom Fighting Collection. The collection will also have several additional modes such as Fighter Awards, Training Mode, and even a Museum with over 500 individual pages of art and design documentation, including some that have never been released before.

Capcom Fighting Collection will release on June 24th, 2022 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC via Steam, and Nintendo Switch.

The beloved staple in the fighting game industry is revealed to have a sequel with more information coming this summer

A countdown that video game publisher Capcom has posted had ended to reveal a new Street Fighter 6 is in development. The impressive new look for the franchise is teased in this teaser trailer:

This teaser trailer had debuted on the weekend following the Capcom Pro Tour finals, after revealing Capcom Fighting Collection — a collection of 90s Capcom fighters with new online capabilities. The Street Fighter 6 trailer, however, featured a more realistic looking and sweat-soaked bearded Ryu standing against Luke, a downloadable newcomer in Street Fighter V who had been said to play a prominent role in this installment of Street Fighter. While no details have been shared, Capcom looks to be aiming for a more realistic and Tekken-like tone for its new fighting installment.

Street Fighter 6 remains without a release date but Capcom has promised to announce more this summer, which speculations have led to be during the Summer Game Fest 2022 between June and July.

Street Fighter 6 had been previously rumored to be released during autumn 2021 before it had been delayed to 2022. This was most likely due to Capcom being satisfied with how the new installment was turning out. This may be backed up with Street Fighter 5 receiving a new season pass at the last minute, in order to give Capcom more time to spend on tweaking and finalizing Street Fighter 6.

A notable development to be mindful of is that according to leaked documents, during a time when Capcom was held hostage in a ransomware cyberattack, a direction that Street Fighter 6 will pursue will aim for less sexualization of its female characters. The publisher apparently regrets its past decisions that were highlighted in previous games, such as the eventually censored “butt slap” that R. Mika had done during her Critical Art in Street Fighter 5, and will now be looking to significantly improve gender representation for the female cast.

The last mainline installment in Street Fighter was Street Fighter 5 which was released back in 2016 as a console exclusive for PlayStation 4. An intriguing consideration circulating online is which platforms it will be released on, whether it will be a PlayStation exclusive or be playable on the Xbox as well.

We will have to find out once Capcom announces more during the summer!

A stunning fanmade trailer gets compared to the Gameboy Advance Classic

A gorgeous three-minute fanmade trailer depicting a modern 3D version of MOTHER 3 has been released with a side-by-side comparison clip to illustrate just how accurate the tribute version is. An important thing to note is that this ‘tribute’ is just a video and does not represent an actual game.

The comparison can be seen in the video below:

This video was made by Curiomatic, described as “a collective of creative minds dedicated to exploring the creative aspects of games, from art, design, music, and the creative process as a whole.”

While Mother 3 hasn’t been made available in the west, the good news is Nintendo has made games such as EarthBound Beginnings and EarthBound available on the Switch Online NES and SNES service. Last weekend, the producer of Mother 3 had stated wanting to see the GBA entry eventually receive a worldwide release.

Horizon Forbidden West: Relic Ruins – The Daunt Guide

The Daunt is a mentioned-only location in Horizon Zero Dawn, and a playable area within the recently released sequel Horizon Forbidden West. Players can expect to delve deep into the aforementioned set of great canyons, located on the frontier of the Carja Sundom. Within The Daunt, Relic Ruins can be found.

There are several Relic Ruins within Horizon Forbidden West. These platforming puzzles offer XP rewards and a  collectible called “ornaments” that exists often tucked away behind locked doors; reaching them usually takes some quick thinking.

The first of these Relic Ruins in The Daunt, the game’s starting area, sets the table for what to expect from these tricky puzzles. Here we’ll walk you through how to complete it so you don’t have to delay Aloy’s adventure by more than a moment.

To begin, head inside the building ravaged by time and look for a metal crate with yellow markings. These crates will be seen often in the game, especially in Relic Ruins. Move the crate to the center of the room near the yellow handhold hanging above you. Normally just out of reach, now you can grab it by jumping on the crate first.

Jump up onto the second floor and you’ll notice the locked door needs both a key and a code to open. Leave it for now and head outside via the balcony left of the door. Jump the gap and enter a new room. Drop down onto the floor and look for the purple collectible in view. It can be scanned with Aloy’s focus, and reading it will give you the code you need for the door: 1705

.

Turn around and use your pullcaster (aim with R2, then switch to pullcaster with triangle) to pull a second crate down from above. Then look for the vent at the end of the room and once more use your pullcaster to yank the door off of it. Using the crate, jump up to the broken overhang left of the vent (where the supply cache sits), then jump and grab onto the now open vent.

Head inside and drop down to find a fragile wall identified by the blue metal bars bolted into it. This is another recurring signal to use the pullcaster, so do so and you’ll create a gaping hole in the wall. Head into the hole in the floor beside you (it was there already) and run to the end of the dark hall, using the pullcaster once more on a ceiling piece featuring the same blue metal bars. You’ve now created a hole in the room above you, the same room you just blasted a hole into one step earlier, and the original room where you set up the first crate.

Climb back up to the previous floor and drag that original crate into the hole in the floor. Carry it to the other side of the dark hall and use it to reach some handholds (always noted by the color yellow). Climb all the way up to the top and jump down to the balcony to find the key.

With both the key and the code in hand, you can now open the locked door to the game’s first Relic Ruin. You’ll earn some well-deserved XP, plus a shamrock ornament.

The King of Fighters ALLSTAR and Street Fighter Collaborate on a new fighting experience

Netmarble has just revealed an exciting collaboration that fighting fans across the world would have some excitement for – The King of Fighters ALLSTAR will be joining forces with Street Fighter on mobile. Pre-registration will begin on March 15th, and eager fans can check out the roster of characters that will be revealed in the next few days on the teaser site.

In The King of Fighters ALLSTAR, two legendary franchises in the genre collide as Ryu, Chun-Li and more join the fight. The mobile action role-playing game is teaming up with Capcom with a special Street Fighter Collab Eve Coupon.

A new video depicts Pikachu and Jigglypuff keeping an eye on the creation of adorable Pokemon treats

The Pokemon series has always been a source of wonder for fans who imagine what it would be like to be in a world with actual Pokemon. A new video direct gives fans a peek into what that life could look like while also sharing a pair of adorable Pokemon-themed recipes.

Pokemon has created many short YouTube videos to share with its fans, ranging from soft wind-down ASMR-type videos to special animations and everything in-between. This new video is a collaboration between Nisshokuki and The Pokemon Company, depicting the joys of cooking with Pokemon.

This is the first episode of a three-part series called Sweet Winter With Pokemon.

This episode opens with the talented cook behind the Nisshokuki channel waking up to several Pokemon passing through a nearby hallway. After a Pokemon coffee cup is prepared, the cook gets to work, showing a step-by-step recipe of what appear to be Pokemon cream puffs.

After baking the delicate creations, Nisshokuki fills the cream puff with some yellow custard. Then, with the help of a few decorations, Pikachu’s ears, eyes, mouth, and red cheeks are imprinted onto the delicious goodie. The CG Pikachu is very pleased with these creations, but Jigglypuff seems disappointed as they’ve been left out. Good thing is, Nisshokuki gets right back to producing a Jigglypuff variant of the dessert, enrobed in a Jigglypuff-pink cream cheese milk mixture and then covered in similar decorations.

Unfortunately, the recipe and video are untranslated at this time, so English-speaking fans may have some difficulty attempting to replicate the recipe. However, one can hope for a translation so that pokemon fans across the world can enjoy and have their own.

It makes sense, in a world of which Pokemon-themed burgers and other foods are sold in Japanese cafes and Pokemon Cocktails exist. It is a treat to see the combination of CGI and real life within this recent video, however, and can even inspire your own creation of your favourite Pokemon!

The new update will address various concerns and requests

Halo Infinite will receive its “first backend skill update” since launch to address inaccurate skill assessment and uneven player skills in multiplayer matches. This has been addressed in a new matchmaking update blog made earlier today, and with a Tweet that the official Halo account has posted:

Community manager John Junyszek noted that developer 343 Industries “has been analyzing real matches since launch” and “these learnings [live data] will help the system become even better at assessing player skills” to place them more accurately between skill distributions from here on.

When the new update rolls out though, all players will have their Competitive Skill Ranking (CSR) ranks reset so that “everyone can get an updated CSR that is more indicative of their skill” in Halo Infinite. The updated CSR though will place players a whole tier below their current ranks.

“Since we saw that the CSR system was being overly generous since launch, these changes are being rolled out to help bring things closer in line to where they should be,” explained Junyszek. “This period led to a full tier inflation of ranks and, as a result, most players should expect to be placed a full tier lower (Diamond players will find themselves in Platinum, Platinum players will find themselves in Gold, etc.) after this rank reset.”

343 Industries will be rolling out the ranked matchmaking update next week on February 22, 2022. With this, the developer will continue to monitor matches and how ranked players are progressing. The multiplayer community should hence expect more of such updates down the road to keep the system “up to date with the latest player behaviors.”

Last weekend, many players had gone online with complaints about a broken ranked matchmaking system. They were being placed in uneven matches with average-ranked players going up against highly skilled ones. 343 Industries took immediate notice of the problem and resolved the crisis by the start of the week.

The root cause had not been shared, but it had been pointed out that the problem was not part of the matchmaking improvements which were introduced a day before.

Sadako will rise to terrorize Dead By Daylight players on March 8

Dead by Daylight is no stranger to the biggest horror franchises in the world; its latest chapter will be based on the iconic Japanese horror icon “Ringu”. The new chapter is called Sadako Rising, which is due to release on March 8. This brings two new characters: Sadako (Killer), and Yoichi Asakawa (a new survivor).

A new trailer for the chapter shows Sadako climbing out of her well to terrorise the survivors of Dead By Daylight. In-game, Sadako will be known in-game as The Onryō, after a Japanese term meaning “vengeful spirit.”

Yoichi Asakawa, who appeared in the first two Japanese Ring films as a young boy with psychic abilities, is the Ringu installment’s new Survivor. Dead By Daylight’s version of the character shows Yoichi as an adult, as the only hero of the Ring films to have faced Sadako and made it out alive. In a surprising move for the franchise, the continuation of Yoichi’s story will happen exclusively in-game.

The Ringu update sees Dead By Daylight exploring new territory, departing from the classic slasher films it was originally inspired by to explore a different style of horror. “Ringu introduces psychological horror to our game, which is very different from the slasher style our fans are used to,” explains creative director Dave Richard. “They can expect Sadako to come with creepy and surprising gameplay mechanics that are not found in other Killers. Survivors beware, she will freak you out!”
