Finally, after months of speculation, Nintendo have announced their next console.

Nintendo’s latest project will be a console that will act as both a home video gaming system and a portable console. The Nintendo Switch will be the next era of gaming for Nintendo exclusive games such as Super Mario, Splatoon and the Legend of Zelda.

The console will have a normal controller and detachable controllers on the side of the portable screen.

The Nintendo Switch will be released in March 2017. Welcome to the next generation of Nintendo gaming!

Nintendo have come out and announced at this year’s shareholder meeting that they are undertaking research on virtual reality.

Shingeru Miyamoto said the company was “researching VR” so it has “the core technology.”

Miyamoto has also said “Long play sessions are an issue. We want to release something that can be played for long periods, carries value, and is affordable. We want parents to feel at ease.”

I am sure just like I am hoping, the fans are hoping the same that Nintendo are going to release VR capability for the new console due to be released next year. However as we all know Nintendo actually did not release anything about the console at this year’s E3, Miyamoto claimed this was to “avoid imitators”.

Iwata, of Nintendo, fears that competitors may take their NX ideas

Did you ever wonder who Nintendo merely skimmed over the NX during their E3 2015 presentation? Well it seems that the head of Nintendo, Iwata, has all the answers to that!

In a call yesterday, Iwata said “we can’t talk about the NX,”. “If we do, competitors may take our ideas and customers won’t be surprised.” He has also stated that support for the Wii U and 3DS would continue for the time being.

“This would not be beneficial for the company or its shareholders,” Iwata has added. “The NX is new hardware, and will start from 0. However, the 3DS and Wii U have install bases. Immediately cutting off software for previous hardware upon the release of a new machine is inefficient.”

“We will continue making 3DS and Wii software while preparing for the NX. We are prioritizing satisfying customers who purchased the Wii U.”

Super Mario like you’ve never seen him before. 

YouTuber aryoksini has recently uploaded a video of Mario looking better than ever and running on Epic’s Unreal Engine 4. The footage of Mario exploring various environments looks superb and makes you wonder if its a sign of what’s to come when the Nintendo NX is released in the future.

aryoksini writes in the description, “all the environment assets were taken from the Unreal marketplace, all the character actions were scripted using blueprints only, all animations were re-created from scratch as well as the PBR ready textures.” Take a look at the brilliant video:

After an E3 with no announcements on a new major Metroid Prime game, fans of the series are most likely feeling a little let down.

Whilst most people thought we would see some information on a possible proper Metroid Prime game. Series producer, Kensuke Tanabe, suggests were unlikely to see a release until Nintendo launches its next-gen console, code-named “NX”.

Speaking at E3, Tanabe discussed how. “If we started for Wii U now, it would likely take three years or so. So it would likely now be on Nintendo’s NX console.”

While there was no news of a Metroid Prime game for Wii U, Metroid Prime: Federation Force was unveiled at E3, a co-op multiplayer game heading to 3DS in 2016.

Nintendo announce their forthcoming console, codenamed ‘NX’!

Exciting news for all the Nintendo fans out there! They have announced their next console, which has been codenamed ‘NX’. Satoru Iwata, the company’s executive, has revealed this. He has also said that the new hardware project is representing a “brand new concept”, but that is as far as we know. This announcement was vocalised just moments after Nintendo had revealed their plans to bring it’s household games and IP to mobiles and smartphones. 

“As proof that Nintendo maintains strong enthusiasm for the dedicated game system business, let me confirm that Nintendo is currently developing a dedicated game platform with a brand-new concept under the development codename ‘NX’. It is too early to elaborate on the details of this project, but we hope to share more information with you next year.” – As revealed by Iwata at a press conference on Tuesday.

Iwata also noted that this new membership service will “encompasses the existing Nintendo 3DS and Wii U systems, the new hardware system with a brand-new concept, NX, and smart devices and PCs.” This membership service plans to unite Nintendo’s household consoles, handhelds, PC and mobiles.

“Nintendo will be the primary party to operate this new membership service. Unlike the Club Nintendo membership service that Nintendo has been operating, the new membership service will include multiple devices and create a connection between Nintendo and each individual consumer regardless of the device the consumer uses.” Iwata added.

It seems that this brand new membership is what’ll be replacing the Club Nintendo membership program, which was announced to close, earlier this year, by September.
