Epic Games has announced their next lot of free games in store: Dead by Daylight and While True.

It’s been 5 years since the release of Dead by Daylight, and it’s become one of the most successful survival horror games of all time, finding its place among streamers and content creators.

Over the past five years, Dead by Daylight has received tons of DLC, mostly collabs with iconic horror franchises. These have included killers such as A Nightmare on Elm Street’s Freddy Krueger, Halloween’s Michael Myers, Hellraiser’s Pinhead, Scream’s Ghost Face, and Silent Hill’s Pyramid Head.

While the base game is going to be free, the DLC will be available for paid purchase alongside it in the Epic Games Store. No doubt, a great sales tactic for the coming DLC.

The Epic Version will also apparently have cross platform compatibility.

Those looking for something a little less deadly will also have the opportunity to download While True for free next week. Its developer, Luden.io, describes it as a puzzle/simulation game about “machine learning, neural networks, big data and AI” in which players, “must learn all there is to know about machine learning and use visual programming to build a cat-to-human speech recognition system.”

Sounds like a treat!

Over 20 million copies of Minecraft have been sold on PC & Mac

Well, it’s not like we didn’t see that coming really! Minecraft has managed to sell over 20 million copies for Mac and PC, and just in time for this weekend’s Minecon too.

On the official website, the sales tracker has revealed that 10,430 people have bought the game in the last 24 hours, for the Mac and PC, which has boosted the sales on these platforms to a staggering and outstanding 20,007,781.

it has, however, been a little while since we heard how the game is doing on the other platforms. We learnt that Minecraft sold 12 million copies last year in April on the Xbox 360, and the PS3 version was on 1 million within the same year in January 2014. The Pocket Edition had also sold over 30 million by January 2015.

I don’t think we’ve ever heard of a game to do so well?! Are you a Minecraft player? Let us know how you feel about this news!

The Wii U’s poor sales

Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto has recently spoken out about the drop in sales of the Wii U and, seeing by the lack of games that were shown at E3 last week, it is clear to see how much the console is/has fallen. Miyamoto was asked, in the interview, about the price hike between the Wii and the Wii U, to which he replied – “So I don’t think it’s just price, because if the system is appealing enough, people will buy it even if the price is a little bit high,” Miyamoto says. “I think with Wii U, our challenge was that perhaps people didn’t understand the system.” Miyamoto doesn’t go on to explain exactly why this was, but he is clear about what the mission statement was, for the console, in the first place.

He goes on to add – “I think that we had a system that’s very unique — and, particularly with video game systems, typically it takes the game system a while to boot up,” . “And we thought that with a tablet-type functionality connected to the system, you could have the rapid boot-up of tablet-type functionality, you could have the convenience of having that touch control with you there on the couch while you’re playing on a device that’s connected to the TV, and it would be a very unique system that could introduce some unique styles of play.”

“I think unfortunately what ended up happening was that tablets themselves appeared in the marketplace and evolved very, very rapidly, and unfortunately the Wii system launched at a time where the uniqueness of those features were perhaps not as strong as they were when we had first begun developing them,” Miyamoto explains. “So what I think is unique about Nintendo is we’re constantly trying to do unique and different things. Sometimes they work, and sometimes they’re not as big of a hit as we would like to hope. After Wii U, we’re hoping that next time it will be a very big hit.”
