The cozy vibes of Animal Crossing and Stardew Valley mean a lot of overlap in the fandoms, which has coalesced in this amazing recreation of Pelican Town.

While the crossover between Stardew Valley and Animal Crossing: New Horizons has spawned a few smaller creations, such as Leah’s house, this is my first time seeing such a massive island recreation.

The indie title, made entirely by one ConcernedApe, has achieved massive success despite humble beginnings. Given the relaxed pace of both games, many fans of Animal Crossing like Stardew Valley, and vice versa. It may only have been a matter of time before someone made an entirely Stardew Valley themed island, but the level of detail seen here is astonishing.

Even the houses have been strategically placed with accurate colouring to replicate the ones seen in Pelican Town. The player character seems to be channeling Penny with their outfit, and starts the video sat on her iconic bench. Other player characters are familiar too: There’s Emily in the town square, Linus hanging about, Harvey, and Willy with his hut by the beach. They’ve also recreated the museum, with interesting items to represent the ones you might find in Stardew.

My favourite detail has to be the adorable mouse with his hat shop. I also love the creativity of using piggy banks for the animals in Marnie’s hut and in the farm. The layout is fantastically accurate to the game, and they’ve even used the warp pipes to teleport to Calico desert – just like how you would use the bus in Stardew.

I truly can’t get over the accuracy of this recreation – especially in the layout! It’s amazing that they have managed to fit the whole Stardew map on their island, and made everything relative to its location in Stardew.

A new patch providing necessary framework for mods is on the way.

The hit indie game Stardew Valley is one that thrives with community mods. There are mods that add entire new areas to the game, mods that change the art style, mods that diversify the cast of romanceable characters, and more. The game’s simple style and mechanics really lend themselves to this kind of community customisation.

Coming soon, version 1.5.6 will add more modding support, thanks to modders PathosChild and SMAPI. The patch notes didn’t include too much detail on what 1.5.6 will have coming, but “some long requested ‘holy grail’ changes” are on tap. PathosChild has been given access to the Stardew Valley source code to provide the upcoming changes.

PathosChild has led previous updates, including the game’s transition from XNA to MonoGame.

The 1.5.5 update, which went live on Tuesday, brings some quality of life improvements. This includes a buy-back option in case you accidentally sell something unintentionally (so long as you buy it back in the same shopping session).

And FINALLY, you can scootch your pets out of the way if they’re getting in the way of your building endeavours. Just click on them to nudge them out of the way – much better than standing around waiting for them to move their butts.

The full patch notes detail a bunch of other fixes made to the game in 1.5.5. There is no news so far on when 1.5.6 will launch. It doesn’t sound like it should be too long, but version 1.5.5 did follow 1.5.4 by almost 10 months.

Fans of Stardew Valley should check out this indie gem, an LGBT love story in all its pixel glory.

Play The Relaxing Farming Simulator RPG – STORY OF SEASONS: Pioneers of Olive Town

Nintendo has been doing a lot of great game trials recently for Nintendo Switch Online members, such as the popular Minecraft Dungeons and the action game DAEMON X MACHINA . Nintendo has decided to go onto Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town, which had already been on trial for Nintendo America and is now on trial for Nintendo Uk and Europe.

The Nintendo game trials allow players access to the full game for a limited amount of time, in most cases 7 days. The free trial for STORY OF SEASONS: Pioneers of Olive Town ends last from 10^th November – 16^th November. It seems that over time  Nintendo will offer game trials for the more expensive games, as Story of Seasons is almost priced at the same amount as a first-party Nintendo game, so it’s nice to know they are offering the chance to try games that are a little less affordable. It lets people know if the game is really worth their pennies.

What is STORY OF SEASONS: Pioneers of Olive Town?

Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive town is a mix between a farming simulator and an RPG. There isn’t a ‘set in stone’ plot, the is made by the choices the player makes and the relationships they build. As it’s a farming simulator, Story of Seasons has everything you’d expect, planting crops, caring and breeding animals, customising your home.  There are even extra events and mini-games to enjoy through each in-game season. Think of it as a Stardew Valley and Animal Crossing New Horizons with an anime element fixed into it.

There’s a lot to do in STORY OF SEASONS: Pioneers Of Olive Town, it feels just as fun as STORY OF SEASONS: Friends of Mineral Town, which has a number of fewer features than Pioneers of Olive Town. It’s addicting and you find that it’s easy to get over 100 hours of gameplay.

Friendship points happen to be very important, you’ll be able to gain a particular item or access to a certain feature you otherwise wouldn’t have if you didn’t upgrade your friendship with a specific character.

Due to that game mechanic being in place, there’s a lot of unexpected scenes that take place.

It’s a great game to get stuck into if you’re a fan of life and farming simulators, the music also adds to the relaxing gameplay and the dialogue always feels very rewarding for each day you speak with one of the NPC’s no matter who it is.

In a surprise announcement, ConcernedApe – the sole developer of hit indie game Stardew Valley – has revealed that a new game called Haunted Chocolatier is in development.

Clearly, it shares a lot of stylistic and thematic similarities with Stardew Valley. Not that I’m complaining! The more cozy games, the better! Haunted Chocolatier seems to share Stardew’s warm pixel art style and simple UI, all strengths of the game. I do notice some improvements in the character art, though. They look more detailed and lifelike.

(Also – super cute. I’m guessing they will also be dateable like in Stardew? I’m hoping they are. I need to know how Maddie likes her eggs in the morning.)

Looks like I’m not the only one who has developed a new crush already.

Gameplay seems to be the only part that ConcernedApe makes any significant changes to. Players won’t be farming crops or tending to animals, but rather will keep their small chocolate business afloat. To do that, players will travel through a portal in their house to a forest, where they can collect resources used to make chocolate, all the while fighting off enemies.

The trailer for Haunted Chocolatier only announced that the game is in development. A release date, along with platforms for the game, has not been announced. As with Stardew, ConcernedApe will be logging development progress through a website/blog.
