FAR: Changing Tides, the sequel to FAR: Lone Sails (not to be confused with the ‘far’ series I guess), has recently had it’s release date announced in this recent trailer. And here’s the announcement trailer to Changing Tides from 2018 if you want to have a butcher’s… or rather, a fishmonger’s? Actually, no- Why do cockney folks say “butcher’s hook” when the saying “hook line and sinker” is LITERALLY right there!? This is fisherman-erasure on a global scale- Nay, butchers ARE hook-trenders… For all 5 of the people in my life who know who Contrapoints is, hope you enjoyed that mildly unhinged reference.

A Brief History on FAR: FAR: Lone Sails released in 2018, a survival RPG seeing players explore an oceanic post-apocalypse in a side-scrolling adventure. Okomotive and Mixtvision developed and published the title respectively. Fast forward a little, now Lone Sails is available on PC, PS4, Switch, Xbox One and mobile. Changing Tides is now being published by Frontier Foundry. The USP with the Changing Tides is that not only will you be sailing through the world above, but your vehicle will also be decked out with a submarine mode!

The release date was confirmed by Don Schmocker (co-founder and lead-artist of Okomotive and Professional Bad-Ass-Name-Haver) to be coming on March 1st of this year on PS4 and PS5.

Mr Schmocker also spoke of the positive feedback received on Lone Sails and how the “meditative reflective nature” seemed to resonate strongly. The plan is to keep the best elements of the Sails while aiming to make Changing Tides more deliberately “thought-provoking”.

Schmocker also claimed Okomotive wanted to expand on content with new features like stormy weather, underwater cities and environmental puzzles suiting the ship’s new mechanics. Emphasis was especially put on distinguishing between sails, oars and the ship’s engine as movement methods. Maybe quieter sections of gameplay will be punctuated with underwater Mad-Maxian fuel scrapes where you’ll have to outwit bandits with less rickety ships than you.

Last, but not least, Schmocker also stated that due to the story being more implicit at times and requiring interpretation, players can also discover key plot context and lore by discovering sunken treasures, locations and ruins of the flood. As something of a Hollow Knight fan myself, not gonna lie, I’m extremely horny for environmental storytelling done right, so I’ll be cautiously optimistic with this one!

The Victorian Steampunk-inspired game hits the No.1 spot in UK chart!

I am ecstatic about this news… Over the moon, in fact! The PS4 exclusive has managed to blast it’s way into the No.1 spot in the UK chart, despite having a bit of a rocky launch regarding it’s short campaign length. This triumph marks the very first time that Sony’s in-house team has created a chart-topping title since August 2014, with The Last of Us Remastered. Adding to this, being a widely promoted title may have also had something to do with the game’s success.. As well as looking and sounding incredible.

Due to this, a 66% drop in sales led to 2K Games’ Evolve to plummet from the top spot and down into third, just behind Activision’s long-standing shooter Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. Promotions in retail for Far Cry 4 bring this game up to fourth place. Unfortunately, due to a 70% drop in sales, Majora’s Mask 3D (remastered for Nintendo 3DS) has dropped from second place to eighth!

MCM Comic Con Midlands 2015

Go2Games’ first ever Comic Con and the first of many to come this year! Here’s the low-down!

Saturday 14th February 2015 marked Go2Games’ first ever MCM Comic Con, which was held in the Midlands at the International Centre, Telford. We arrived on Thursday evening and stayed in an incredible secluded cottage/mansion, which our team thoroughly enjoyed. It also felt like we were a part of a horror film whenever nightfall came, which was an added bonus!

Friday was set-up day and we spent the afternoon/evening erecting our grand, inflatable tent, our fantastic banner and filling the tent with all of our goodies ready for the following morning, whilst our lovely photographers (Patrick and Joe) filmed the whole process! Here’s a look at our tent on set-up day. Pardon the bags and boxes; we were still unpacking and setting up our lovely merchandise!

Saturday morning gave an early start to the team as we arrived back at the venue, just before 8am, to give the finishing touches to our tent, merchandise, and costumes! An hour later saw one of the longest queues that I’ve probably ever seen, which was filled with such incredible cosplayers, all aching to get in to the nerve centre! Here are a few recognisable characters that I met along the way…

I was also ecstatic to meet some of my own kind along the way, and right outside our big old tent too! Does anyone recognise this marvellous man below too?…

I was very lucky to have a photo with Mark Meer, who voices the character Commander Shepard from the extremely popular franchise – Mass Effect. What a lovely guy he is too!

The whole day went extremely well. Excellent cosplay (the winners of the Cosplay Masquerade are featured at the very top of this piece), brilliant atmosphere, great customers and we all very much felt at home and in our element being surrounded by such wonderfully outrageous characters! As you can see, our tent was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Even the Star Wars clan!…

A brilliant day was had by all and we celebrated with a lovely meal made by our colleague Sam and toasted to our success! 

These morph suits, which we sell and have been modelled by the Dark Lord (Spiderman) and myself (Deadpool), sparked a lot of social interest…

Even Jean Luc Picard came along with us and gave us a helping hand. His forte is clearly cooking and he swiftly became our head chef for the stay…

I also, as per usual, managed to get myself into a spot of bother whilst doing the rounds…

My Favourite Minecraft Texture Pack

Now I know this pack has been out for a little while, but I was getting round to  it in my own, mystical time! Especially for those who know me, I think it’s safe to say which texture pack from Minecraft Xbox One Edition would be my favourite, seeing as I’m nothing short of obsessed.. Yes indeed, it be the Steampunk texture pack!

Being Victorian inspired, you can create your own Industrial Revolution, airships, overbearing time pieces and see the classic villagers, cows, sheep and pigs in aviation headgear and goggles!! Cogs are concealed in the tree trunks, the sugar cane grows into brass pipes, the moon has a monocle and the sun is a giant COG!! 

This texture set can be applied to new or previously-created worlds and includes a themed user interface to suit the textures. There are plenty of gears, knobs, and pressure valves to decorate the landscape with. Also available on the 360, obviously! By the by.. EVEN THE CREEPERS WEAR GOGGLES!!
