It is not yet for sale in the UK, but is expected soon – with purebox.com expecting it to fall between £54.99 and £59.99.

Just like the other colours in the Xbox Series X range, the Deep Pink controller features textured triggers and bumpers, a hybrid D-Pad, and Bluetooth support. It also comes with a dedicated Share button, allowing players to capture and share recordings or screenshots. The battery life has a range of up to 40 hours. However, Xbox have also released a Deep Pink version of the Razer Universal Charging Stand. This stand is compatible with controllers from the different eras – excluding the new Xbox Elite Controller 2.

Finally, the new controller is compatible with the Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows 10 or 11, Android and IOS devices.

Latest in the Xbox Range

Xbox have released a number of controllers to mark the arrival of the Series X console. In addition to the coloured variants, Xbox have also released three special edition controllers. The first is the 20th Anniversary Edition controller – that harkens back to days of old with its black body and green accents. Second is the Aqua Shift blue controller that features swirl grips. The third special edition is the Daystrike Camo Special Edition – adorned with a red, grey and black camouflage pattern.

Xbox have also released two game-themed controllers as well. The first is the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 – Halo Infinite Limited Edition, where the controller is designed to resemble the Spartan armour of the franchise. The second is the Forza Horizon 5 Limited Edition controller. This controller has a translucent yellow casing and a vibrant paint splatter of pink and blue. The Forza edition controller comes with DLC for a exclusive 1932 Ford De Luxe Five-Window Coupé Forza Edition car, as well as cosmetic items and victory emote.

Be sure to check out the range of Xbox controllers at Go2Games. These include the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 and the 20th Anniversary Edition Controller.

Limited edition controllers are a thing. I kinda like them, although to be fair I get the feeling everyone owns at least like 3 Xbox 360 controllers with wildly different deco’s. Microsoft has always been king in this regard and while, Being real, I think the Xbox series X/S controllers are the worst of this generation (lacking Haptics and Gyro, features that are becoming standard on other controllers), its still a solid controller and well worth picking up if you need a new Basic Pad for PC.

Now, microsoft has partnered with Razer and marvel to produce a new controller, themed around Marvel Superhero Captain America. That’s Sam Wilson Captain America/Falcon, to be clear, not Steve Rodgers. For some people I know this will be a turn off from the controller, but from a design standpoint… it really doesn’t matter. Just means there’s more White in the deco than normal for something Cap Themed.

The controller itself appears to be a standard X/S controller, however it comes with a charging dock based on Caps Sheild.

Besides that, this has the standard feature set for Xbox Controllers from this generation, which, despite me slagging off its lack of Haptics and Gyro earlier, is not a bad feature set. Sure I will still take a steam controller of dual sense over this thing, but lets be clear that the Series X/S controller is a solid bit of tech that does all that it needs to do.

Unfortunately, there’s a catch. This bundle, currently available on razers website… costs $179.99. Friendly reminder that an Xbox Series S costs about $299, meaning this controller bundle costs just over half as much as a whole console. That’s a big yikes.

November 15th of this year will mark two whole decades since the Xbox first launched. Wow. It’s older than my brother.

In a recent announcement, Microsoft shared that they would be releasing a special 20th-anniversary controller and headset for the Xbox to commemorate the occasion.

The headset and controller both feature a translucent black finish with silver internals so you can see the interior details of your controller. It also features details in Xbox-iconic green, at the back and around the D-pad.

The 20th Anniversary Special Edition controller will be complete with all the features you expect from the new Xbox Wireless Controllers, such as improved ergonomics, better cross-device connectivity, a dedicated Share button and reduced latency. You will be able to pair and switch between your devices including the Xbox Series X / S, Xbox One, Windows PCs, Android and iOS via Xbox Wireless, and Bluetooth technology.

There’s also a special 20th-anniversary charging dock, in the same style as the other products. This charging stand will fully charge your controller in under 3 hours, and has been designed with overcharge protection to prevent overheating and short-circuiting.

The 20th anniversary headset is built upon the latest Xbox Stereo Headset, with all its accompanying bells and whistles such as an adjustable headband with plush cushioning to spread pressure more evenly around the top of the head, ultra-soft large earcups, and accessible on-ear controls for volume and mute. As always, it connects directly to the Xbox Wireless Controller or other devices through the 3.5mm audio jack, no batteries required.

To be honest… I think it’s pretty hideous. I’m really not a fan of the translucent finished look; why would I want to see my controllers’ insides? I’m plenty happy with my sleek, white, Xbox controller and dock. It doesn’t help that Xbox green is a pretty garish contrast with black. I think the green looks fantastic against white, but it is just not a nice combo with black.

The classic white, grey, and green combo for the 360 looked great. Not so sure about vibrant green and black, though.

Inspired by our past, designed for your present.

Announcing the 20th Anniversary Special Edition Xbox Wireless Controller and Xbox Stereo Headset: https://t.co/nNq6kj1bcY #Xbox20 pic.twitter.com/ar6kBiRiQG

— Xbox (@Xbox) October 7, 2021

The controller and headset seem to have received a very positive response overall, though. Seems I’m in the minority of thinking this is ugly. I guess that’s just the way: you can’t please everybody, right? One nifty feature of the controller, though, is that by connecting it to your Xbox Series X / S, you will unlock a special anniversary background. The retail price is set at £59.99, which is the same as other special edition controllers.

Following the reveal of a confidentiality agreement, a new Nintendo Switch controller is underway

The new device has the model number “HAC-043”, which is one model number higher than Nintendo’s 2019 wireless SNES controller.

It is simply described as ‘game controller’ by a various number of letters that requested confidentiality on its details and had been sourced from and submitted to the FCC. These letters request that any photos of the controller, its manual, its block diagram, and schematics are to be kept confidential for up to six months until Nintendo is ready to announce it themselves.

“Please be advised that the following information is to be held in confidence for 180 days from the date of the Grant of Equipment Authorization and behalf of us,” one letter reads.

“The application contains technical information, which we deem to be trade secrets and proprietary. If made public, the information might be used to the disadvantage of the applicant in the market place.”

Information about the device shows that it uses Bluetooth, and is wireless. Also, it appears to draw more power at 3.5mW. The controller in question has the model name HAC-043; this confirms it as a Switch peripheral due to the “HAC” prefix. For example, HAC-001 is the Switch console itself; HAC-022 is the Ring-Con for Ring Fit Adventure and HAC-042 is the wireless SNES controller released through My Nintendo for the Switch Online SNES library.

More information about the controller comes through a radio test report, through this there are tests of the controller’s wireless signals. This test shows that the controller was plugged into HAC-002, Nintendo’s AC adapter, for testing, which implies that the controller has a USB-C port.

Nintendo may shatter expectations with regards to what this new controller may bring. Mark your calendars for six months in the future with the hopes of receiving official information about this controller.

According to a product listing on the official Xbox support site, Microsoft are to be releasing a new Xbox One controller, which includes a built-in headphone port, sometime “after June 2015”. This statement, however, has since been removed from the site.

The image you can see above is from the previous “Get to know your Xbox One Wireless Controller” support page. The headphone port is planned to sit at the bottom of the controller. It is labelled as no.16 in the image and will be 3.5mm wide, and this is where the players will be able to plug in their headsets.

Microsoft will be holding it’s E3 briefing on Monday 15th June 2015, and this will hopefully lead to an unveiling, as the product hasn’t been officially unveiled as of yet.

A representative of Microsoft has said, “the team is focused on showcasing more games and experiences at E3 but has nothing else to share at the moment.”
