Approaching the third month…

I’m almost halfway through my Kickstart placement, can you believe it? The first half of the week was spent on writing blogs. Some of the highlights for me were my updated Albedo build guide, and an article on the reveal of Kamisato Ayato’s voice. As usual, there was tons of Genshin Impact content to write on. It’s quite nice for me to have a writing niche that I’m always well informed on. I’m extremely well prepared for the next half of Genshin 2.3, with my pre-farming for Arataki Itto near completion, so you can expect more quality content for that!

In the second half of the week, our focus shifted to content descriptions. I’ve completed around 20 in a few days, so my speed could do to be improved. I am a lot more confident in how I conduct them now, however.

Sadly, this is the last week at G2G for our colleague and friend Jewel Ewers. Jewel has written a lot of great blogs about a variety of indie titles, as well as on Animal Crossing. They’re really great blogs, so you’d do well to check them out!

On Friday, I ventured into Croydon to meet with the G2G gang and report on filming a special promo for a very exciting, top-secret project: part of our ongoing mission to give back to our local community by providing valuable learning resources for young people. This particular project takes a focus on developing young people’s digital skills.

It’s estimated that by 2030, 75% of jobs will require advanced digital skills. Currently, the supply of workers with these skills cannot meet this demand, but G2G is hoping to aid the community in rectifying that!

As a games retailer, we have a strong understanding of the importance of being digitally literate. If anything, the pandemic has shown just how much we rely on media like video games to keep our minds engaged. And, with more and more employers looking for applicants who can work from home too, it’s extra essential that you’re able to use software without constant supervision and resolve technical issues yourself.

I learned a lot of my digital skills through my love of video games: I learned basic scripting while making my own visual novel game demo. I learned about tinkering with computer files to manipulate my games, add community mods, etc. So I think this is a very fitting ethos for Go2Games!

I was delighted to be a part of the project today, and I’m really looking forward to seeing it come to fruition with the community’s help. Together, we can help build the crucial employability skills of young people in Croydon and beyond.

MCV Awards: The Finalists Revelaed

The finalists for the MCV awards have been revealed and our lovely lot are one of them! Woohoo!

We at Go2Games were very excited to learn that we’re up for the ‘Best Indie Retailer’ MCV Award!! How awesome is that?! The ceremony will be held on Thursday 16th April 2015, so we’ll keep all our lovely visitors informed on how we get on. Fingers crossed!

We have been previously nominated, and been a finalist too, at last year’s MCV Awards of 2014. Alas, being a finalist is as far as we went… But this year we’re all revved up and ready to go, especially with our lovely blog on the rise and having great feedback from all of you! For that, we thank you kindly!

As you know, we’re also touring MCM Comic Con 2015 in Britain this year *silent rave* and our first one in the Midlands on 14th February went very well indeed! So if you’re coming along to any of them, or thinking of doing so, then come and say hello to the G2G crew and our totally excellent inflatable tent!

Bernodd Montgomery
G2G’s very own Go2Guru

Bernodd Montgomery has been G2G’s Guru since August this year and I felt the need to introduce him to our blog as I haven’t already..

Bernodd was created by myself and my brother, and is our online GTA V character. He’s everything you could possibly wish for in a man – He’s a ladykiller, trendsetter and all round village idiot.. As well as glitching into all sorts of situations, riding his favourite BMX up high buildings and generally getting in trouble with the cops for wearing socks and sandals!

 Bernodd is swiftly becoming a success in the world of social media; filling the minds of many a gamer with words of wisdom, useless information and brainwashing each and every one of you to wear socks and sandals on a daily basis.
