SEGA reveals a snippet of Sonic Frontiers gameplay as part of an IGN First cover story this June

Sonic Frontiers, the next mainline Sonic game after 2017’s Sonic Forces, has a new gameplay teaser trailer, available here.

Looking to change the formula since Sonic Unleashed introduced the “Boost style” gameplay in 2008, Sonic Frontiers will be the series first fully open world game, similar to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

Featuring various biomes, new robotic enemies, large and small and a combat system reminiscent of the werehog levels in Unleashed, as Sonic repeatedly attacks enemies with a barrage of punches and kicks, the game looks to be combining past staples, including rail grinding, into an expansive world.

Peaking at #3 on YouTube Trending is no easy feat, leaving a lot of people hyped for its release later this year.

Originally set to release last year, to coincide with the franchise’s 30th anniversary, it has instead been set back to late 2022, with Sonic Colours Ultimate being a hold over. Alongside Frontiers, Sonic Origins, compiling the Sega Mega Drive trilogy and Sonic CD, is releasing June 23rd and Sonic Prime marks the franchise’s return to television, as a 24 episode series airing later this year, making this year an important one for SEGA.

It will be available for PS4, PS5, PC, Switch, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.

Forspoken is an upcoming action-adventure fantasy wherein you get the isekai treatment and “have” to find your way back to reality (oop, there goes gravity). It’s being developed by the folks at Luminous Productions, published by Square Enix.

Forspoken is currently set to release ‘early in 2022’, which is great to hear, considering the PS5 games library essentially just consists of the PS4 library, plus Returnal and Ratchet and Clank! Forspoken was initially announced under the working title ‘Project Athia’ in 2020 and is set to be the first non Final Fantasy IP from Square Enix in a long time. And when I say long, I don’t mean “long”, I mean 🎵LONG LOOOOOOOOOOOONG LOoooOOOoooNG🎵, followed by sensual trumpeting… It makes sense in context!

Forspoken has a very talented team behind it by the looks of things. Amy Hennig, head writer behind the Uncharted series, will be collaborating with Gary Whitta (Screenwriter for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story). The music composers for the game (Bear McCreary and Garry Schymann) are also behind the scores for God of War and Bioshock… Also, feel free to have a butcher’s round our store if you want to get The Bioshock Collection! Ella Balinksa, playing Frey, has also played in Charlie’s Angels and is confirmed to play a starring role in the upcoming 2022 show ‘Resident Evil: Welcome to New Raccoon City’.

Compared to the previous trailers and gameplay V-Slices, this current gameplay is… Substantially less aesthetically pleasing, to put it mildly. But at the same time, I’m also a firm believer in ‘I’m not ugly, I just reduce graphics to improve performance’, so who am I to judge? Besides the looks department (which, outside of this current footage, looks smooth as a marble scultpure of Bloodsport-era Van-Damme’s booty), the traversal looks suitably fast-paced and the combat magic suitably weighty. You could make the case that the player is actually so agile, that boss fights and healing in most cases may be too easy, so I’m looking forward to seeing how the late-game obstacles rise the difficulty curve.

Forspoken will be released for PC and PlayStation 5 on May 24, 2022. The game will be a PS5 console exclusive for approximately two years.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain – New game-play features the Rocket-Powered Arm Missile

Konami has released over half an hours worth of footage, which is showcasing more of MGS V’s game-play. Within the footage, you will see Snake on a mission entitled “A Hero’s Way,” in which he is tasked with taking out a Spetsnaz commander.

Rocket-arm definitely count as “different”, as Konami have been planning on depicting a “different way of infiltration”, for the upcoming open-world stealth game.

“While it is true that a few microtransactions option due exists, the entire game has been carefully balanced to be fair and enjoyable with or without using these options,” Konami has said.

“There’s no pay to win option. Rest assured that every single item, weapon, and mission in the game is available to all players without paying a single cent.”

The Phantom Pain will be made available to PS4, Xbox One, and PC, on 1st September 2015. Also, according to sources, once the game has shipped, Kojima will be leaving Konami.

Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 – chakra queen, Kaguya Otsutsuki, is revealed

Posted on their YouTube channel, Bandai Namco have revealed a new trailer for their upcoming game, Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4, which showcases the character Kaguya Otsutsuki. The all-new trailer also features Naruto battling with Madara and Obito, as well as fighting alongside Sakura and Sasuke. Kaguya does appear as an in-game character in the trailer, but it is yet to be confirmed whether she will be playable.

Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 will be released later on this year for the PS4, Xbox One and PC. CyberConnect2 will be developing the game, and they’ve been working on the Ultimate Ninja game series since it first started.

LEGO Jurassic World

Roles reversed as both games switched places on their debut week last week. LEGO Jurassic World knocked Elder Scrolls Online off the top spot in the UK video games chart. Hollywood blockbuster, Jurassic World, debuted on 11th June 2015, which has undoubtedly aided in the LEGO game’s success. The franchise has gained seven no.1’s since LEGO Star Wars kicked it all off, way back in 2005! It may be just another LEGO game, but in Jurassic World you can play as dinosaurs, which most probably also has something to do with the game’s immediate soar up the charts.

You can check out the official game-play trailer for LEGO Jurassic World below. Although we very much enjoy Elder Scrolls Online, we can see how it may be a little difficult when you’re up against being able to play as a dinosaur!
