Everything points towards the remake being announced at Gamescom…

Gamescom is just around the corner, starting in just two days on August 24th, and with it comes the pending reveals of various upcoming titles. One such title seemingly being teased for the event is the long-rumoured Resident Evil 4 remake.

The official Resident Evil Twitter account tweeted: “4, itchy, tasty”. This is clearly a reference to one of the most famous log entries in gaming history. It is taken directly from the Keeper’s Diary in Resident Evil 1 – where the writer slowly succumbs to the T-virus over the course of several days.

The account is typically saved for Resident Evil news and promotions. Hence, it is extremely likely that the writer’s inclusion of the number “4” indicates that the highly anticipated Resident Evil 4 remake will be announced at the nearing Gamescom event.

The Resident Evil franchise is as popular as ever, with the overwhelming success of their most recent instalment, Resident Evil: Village. Alongside this success of their recent original entry, the remakes the franchise have put out have also been warmly received. Resident Evil 4 is arguably the biggest fan favourite title in the series. The game rejuvenated the franchise once upon a time – therefore, a remake becomes increasingly likely. Well, I guess we will find out this week. Watch this space.

The world’s biggest gaming event is going virtual again this year and will be opening with a night to remember.

Gamescom is Europe’s leading fair trade of gaming and the world’s biggest gaming event each year, with hundreds of thousands of people flying over from all across the world just to attend.

However, like most events, Gamescom was made to go virtual last year and will be doing so again this year. Yet we have been promised to be in for a treat with the Opening Night Live Showcase.

Gamescom takes place from August 25 to August 29, with the Opening Night Live Showcase being held at 7PM BST / 2PM ET / 11AM PT.

This was announced by Gamescom’s present Geoff Keighley on Twitter.

Keighley goes onto promising the third annual Opening Night Live Showcase will show “this holiday’s biggest upcoming video games and what lies beyond”, and will be streaming and co-streaming everywhere. Twitch, Facebook, and YouTube are the most likely places where it will be streaming or co-streamed by its creators around the world. Over 2 million people streamed last year’s Opening Night Live Showcase, and it would be surprising if that number isn’t the same this year.

No other details have been released so far, however, looking back at 2020’s Opening Night Live Showcase, we can expect a night filled with trailers, announcements, and updates on highly anticipated, in-development games. EA, Bethesda, Xbox, indie partners and many more are signed up to be at Gamescom, yet Sony and Nintendo will be absent this year, but fans are hoping the companies will host their own State of Play or Direct showcases around the same time.

There is also usually a pre-show before the main event, which showcases additional announcements, but that has yet to be announced so far. Still, with 3 weeks to go, hopefully, there will be more announcements for us in store!

EA Sports announced two new game modes to feature in FIFA 17 Ultimate Team next season and so much more at a Gamescom presentation last night.

One of the new game modes is Squad Building Challenges. In this game mode you will need to build a squad to fit the requirements of the challenge that you have entered. Once the squad is built and fits all of the requirements, you will be able to trade the squad for a prize. The harder the challenge, the better the reward! Check out the trailer below for a visual idea of the game mode.

The second new game mode coming to Ultimate Team if FUT Champions. In FUT Champions, you will need to compete to win as many games as you can out of a certain amount of games over a weekend. You will be able to push up the leagues for higher rewards and aim to make it in to the Top 100 category.

Not only are we getting these new game modes in the next Ultimate Team, we are also getting 10 new legends, exclusive to Xbox One.

Players that pre-order will also receive 10 Ultimate Team kits from 5 different celebrities to use in Ultimate Team next year.

With Gamescom getting underway this week, we have been gifted with an amazing new Battlefield 1 trailer. In the latest trailer we get a much deeper look at the gameplay of the upcoming Battlefield release, and it looks spectacular!

Ariel duels, horse-based combat and the absolute beast of the armoured train are all heavily shown off in the latest trailer.

Not only did we get an amazing new trailer, we also received some huge news on the beta. DICE announced that the beta will begin August 31^st and that we will be able to play two game modes, Conquest (64 players) or Rush (24 players).

Only one map will actually feature in the beta which is the Sinai Desert. There may only be one map in the beta but it does include a controllable armoured train, ridable horses and three different Elite Classes.

For anyone who can’t wait for the beta, you will be able to check out a livestream at 19:00 on August 16^th unless you’re lucky enough to be able to play at Gamescom this week.

Battlefield 1 is due for release in late October and is currently in a closed alpha mode which only a handful of people have access to. The rest of us are all waiting for the beta to release which could be sooner than you think.

The Battlefield community manager of Germany, Sebastian Moritz, has confirmed that the beta will be released “shortly after” gamescom. Moritz revealed this during a livestream with a Twitch streamer named CommanderKrieger.

The announcement was in German but was translated by Reddit and Twitter user, Patrick K.

Gamescom takes place from 17^th August to 21^st August so we could definitely see the beta before the beginning of September.

Battlefield insiders will get early access to the beta, up to three days before everyone else.

Just remember, this isn’t the completed game!
