The graphic adventure video game now has a December release date for the Switch

Nintendo Switch players rejoice!

Life is Strange: True Colors was released earlier this year on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PC and Stadia, yet developer Deck Nine had to sadly reveal the Nintendo port would not be ready in time.

Yet now the time has come and fans can be expecting Life is Strange: True Colors very soon.

Life is Strange: True Colors Nintendo Release

Life is Strange: True Colors is a supernatural graphic adventure game set in between the events of Life is Strange series and Life is Strange 2, yet follows a separate storyline so you do not need to have played the Life is Strange series before playing it.

The plot of Life is Strange: True Colors follows Alex Chen, a young woman who can experience the emotions of others, as she tries to solve the mystery behind her brother’s death.

Nintendo Switch owners can expect Life is Strange: True Colors to arrive digitally on December 7, with the physical cartridge to be available to purchase on February 25, 2022.

As an extra bonus for its fans, Square Enix also collaborated with Lo-Fi musicians to create a Lo-Fi playlist when playing Life is Strange: True Colors- or if you’re just in the mood to listen to Lo-Fi music. You can read more about it here.

Square Enix also had to announce its remaster of Life is Strange would be delayed until early 2022, yet players that bought True Colors will still have access to Life is Strange: Remastered Collection when it finally arrives.

Life is Strange: True Colors is out on Nintendo Switch digitally on December 7 and physically on February 25, 2022.

Life is Strange is one of the most iconic and well-received storytelling game series of our time. The series of episodic graphic adventures are published by Square Enix. The very first instalment was developed by Dontnod entertainment and released in five serialised episodes in 2015. Since the release of the prequel Before the Storm, Deck Nine have taken over development.

Life is Strange has received acclaim for its well-developed characters, handling of difficult themes, and narrative – though like most player-choice-influenced stories it has its plot holes and issues. The game has also been lauded for its LGBT representation, drawing many fans from the community (including myself).

The Life is Strange Remaster containing Square Enix’s enhanced rerelease of the first Life is Strange, as well as its prequel Before the Storm (along with all its bonus content from the Deluxe edition), has been set to release in February 2022 following delays.

The Remaster was due to arrive at the end of this months, to coincide with the release of the newest series entry, Life is Strange: True Colors.

Square Enix made the decision back in August to delay release, due to the complications posed by the pandemic.

At the time, we were given a vague release period of ‘early 2022’, but Square Enix has since officially confirmed the date of February 1st for Switch, PlayStation, Xbox, PC, and Stadia.

The upcoming Remaster promises a variety of enhancements for Life is Strange and Before the Storm, including engine and lighting upgrades along with visual remasters for characters and environments.

Life is Strange will get fully motion captured facial animations, so we can expect to see the game in all-new lifelikeness. I’m certainly excited to re-experience the original Life is Strange game with all its new enhancements in the remaster!

The Ultimate Gamer’s Magazine: A Profound Waste Of Time, Finally Back on Kickstarter

A lot of the time, most people feel as though they only get a hold of the end product when it comes to a game, we hardly see the in-between. Yes, here and there we’ll see the development, but we never truly hear about what it’s like to create a game or participate in the production of one. Whether they are a designer, programmer, artist, writer, engineer…you name it. The point is, this magazine gives us a glimpse of that and from different people. However, they also touch on everyday gamers like you and me, YouTubers and more.

APWOT’s magazine, A profound Waste of Time, received strong demand for a reprint and reached its Kickstarter goal of £40,000 in less than 24 hours, exceeding up to 43,000 as of recent times and counting. Anyone who missed the campaign can get a second chance at buying the magazine WITH the special items that can only be obtained through the Kickstarter Campaign, add-ons such as enamel pins, a game themed tarot card set, digital wallpapers and more.

Issue 2

A fantastic follow-up to our debut issue, Issue 2 is filled with art and words from an incredible line-up of people, including Keita Takahashi, Tetsuya Mizuguchi, Jenny Jiao Hsia and many more. This issue has an interview with Team Cherry, creators of beloved indie metroidvania Hollow Knight, along with a visual essay by internationally renowned photographer Liam Wong, exploring the parts of Tokyo that have inspired videogames.

The Life Is Strange: True Colors Lo-fi Playlist Might Be one of The Most Wholesome Marketing Strategies Ever

Square Enix released Life is Strange: True Colors just before the last weekend on the 10th September 2021. Even though the ‘Life is Strange’ series already have a large fanbase, that doesn’t mean they can’t try to broaden their audience while also giving something nice back to their fans. Square Enix collaborated with different Lo-fi music artists and put a playlist together. If this isn’t the most wholesome marketing strategy ever seen, I don’t know what is. Before we get into it though…

What is Life Is Strange: True Colors Anyway?

Life is Strange: True Colors is a narrative, ‘supernatural’ adventure video game developed by Square Enix and takes place before the ENDING of Life Is Strange 2, but after the events of all the Life Is Strange games. The story follows Alex Chen who has a strange empathic power, where she can feel and absorb other people’s emotions. However, she goes on with most of her life hiding it. After her brother dies, she feels as though it was not just an ‘accident’ and ventures off, using her power to uncover the truth. Life Is Strange: True Colors has been released on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and PC.

There will also be an additional ‘Steph’s DLC’ called Wavelengths available for Xbox, PlayStation and PC on the 30th September 2021.

They knew what they were doing when it came down to sharing the Lo-Fi Playlist in the description box, while that may seem like common sense, you’d be surprised at how many channels don’t do this at all, or even show the track on screen for a couple seconds and it is quite annoying. I sometimes find myself using Shazam to figure it out only for the app to tell me “No Result. Sorry, we didn’t quite catch that. TRY AGAIN.” Listing the tracks in the description may be simple and something small, but it’s a gesture I greatly appreciate.

I am listening to the playlist as a type, not only is it relaxing, but considering the theme around empaths, it’s interesting to sit and listen to the music while trying to feel your way through each soundtrack. The video has gained over 23 thousand views and without a doubt has attracted many newcomers and fans to Life Is Strange as well.

The survival horror game’s remastered collection is having to be pushed back, but we do get some compromises!

Life is Strange: Remastered Collection was scheduled to be released on September 30, shortly after the release of Life is Strange: True Colors, which is still on schedule to be released on September 10.

Now, Life is Strange: Remastered Collection has been pushed back until next year and an extra DLC for True Colors will take its place.

Remastered Collection and Wavelengths DLC

Life Is Strange is a series of primarily episodic graphic adventure games published by Square Enix, with the first game developed by Dontnod Entertainment and told the story of Max Caulfield, an 18-year-old student who realises she can reverse time when she witnesses her friend Chloe being shot.

The team behind Life is Strange’s development released an update on Twitter of the progress for their current projects. In it, stated that due to the ongoing challenges of the global pandemic, the team want to alleviate any pressure placed on the Remastered Collection and separate the release between their upcoming release Life is Strange: True Colors. 

Life is Strange: Remastered Collection now has an expected release date of early 2022, however, if you buy True Colors, you will still have access to the Remastered Collection when it arrives.

The game is being developed by Deck Nine and it promises to improve the visual detail of characters and environments by using full facial motion capture performances as well as updates to the game’s engine and lighting.

However, the development team also announced fans can expect a DLC to be released on the date they would have received the Remastered Collection.

The Life is Strange: True Colors Ultimate Edition still grants entitlement to the two Life is Strange Remastered Collection games, which will now be available on their new release date in early 2022.

Life is Strange: Wavelengths DLC will be a bonus episode to the upcoming True Colors game starring Steph Gingrich, who was previously featured in the prequel game Life is Strange: Before the Storm, and will focus on Steph’s arrival to Haven Springs, a year before True Colors is set.

Life is Strange: True Colors and Remastered Collection will be available on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, Stadia, and Switch.

Top Ten 2015

My personal favourites in the gaming world which are to be released this year!

I think we can all agree when I say that this year is going to be seeing some pretty awesome releases, from what I’ve seen, and I’ve picked a personal “top ten” for you to feast your peepers on! So.. Let’s get cracking shall we?!..

10. 

At No.10 we have ‘Hellblade’. The story is based on Celtic myth. The trailer is focused on Senua, Hellblade’s protagonist, as she embarks on a very personal journey through a hellish underworld. Ninja-class combat, strong character stories, and a unique art vision will be taken to the next level in this game, which is developed by Ninja Theory. The release date has not yet been confirmed, but just by looking at Senua and her attire, you just know that it’s going to be a good one!

9. 

In at No.9 we see the next instalment to the Halo franchise, ‘Halo 5: Guardians’. Peace is shattered when colony worlds are unexpectedly attacked. And when humanity’s greatest hero goes missing, Spartan Locke is tasked with hunting down the Master Chief and solving a mystery that threatens the entire galaxy. What’s not to like from the plot of this infamous first-person shooter?! A release date is yet to be confirmed for this year, on Xbox One, but it’s worth the wait!

8. 

Next we have ‘Raven’s Cry’, which will be released throughout this month on Windows, Xbox 360, PS3 & PS4. A dark action-adventure role-playing video game that interweaves fictional events and characters with historical ones from the 17th century Caribbean. This game is said to feature ruthless pirates and historically accurate architecture whilst following the story of Christopher Raven, who sets off on the road to vengeance to find the scoundrels who murdered his family, a journey that might see him lose his soul too. A good old fashioned pirate quest!

7. 

Moving in at No. 7 is ‘Star Wars: Battlefront’, which is the third main entry in the Battlefront series and due to release this holiday on Windows, Xbox One and PS4. DICE did not brand the new game as a sequel to Battlefront II, but a reboot to the franchise. The game will also include the moon Endor and the planet Hoth as playable maps. The game will also be tying in with the release of the film ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’. Well, two for the price of one here!

6. 

In at old No.6 is ‘Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End’, which will be available to play on the PS4. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed this franchise, ever since it begun, and it’s never failed to get the old ticker beating! A release date is yet to be confirmed but it’s another that’s worth the wait. Drake is now a retired fortune hunter who will embark on a globe-trotting journey in pursuit of a historical conspiracy behind a fabled pirate treasure. Naughty Dog has said that this will be Drake’s “greatest adventure yet and will test his physical limits, his resolve, and ultimately what he’s willing to sacrifice to save the ones he loves.”

5. 

Halfway there! At No. 5 we have ‘Life is Strange’, which consists of 5 episodes. The first is set to be released on 30th January on Windows, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3 & PS4, with six weeks in between each episode. After many years of being away from her hometown, senior photography student Maxine Caulfield returns to Arcadia Bay, Oregon. She reunites with her estranged best friend Chloe Price, and discovers that Chloe’s father had died the year Maxine left town. Since then Chloe has lived with an irreparable sorrow. She found support in a girl named Rachel Amber. But then Rachel went missing under suspicious circumstances. Max and Chloe decide to jointly investigate Rachel’s disappearance, and thus make their way to unravel the city’s hidden secrets. Very Heavy Rain/Twin Peaks!

Gliding in at No.4 (literally) is ‘Batman: Arkham Knight’, which is to be released in June on the PS4 & Xbox One. I bet you thought this’d be No. 1, didn’t you?.. As much as I love dear old Bats, he didn’t quite make it. My apologies! The game’s main storyline is set one year after the events of 2011’s Batman: Arkham City and follows Batman, at the peak of his ability, as he confronts the Scarecrow, who has returned to Gotham City to unite Batman’s enemies in a plot to finally kill the Dark Knight. Guess what else is introduced?.. THE BATMOBILE!! As a drivable vehicle! Oh it’s all too exciting..

3. 

Nearly, nearly there! In at No.3 is ‘Bloodborne’, which is coming to the PS4 in March. The game takes place in the gothic, ruined city of Y’harnam which is rumoured to house a potent medical remedy. The player takes the role as one of the travellers and must navigate the streets of Yharnam and overcome its violently deranged inhabitants and horrifying monsters in order to survive. Well.. That’s right up my street and look at those weapons! Gothic and gory; two of my favourite words.

2. 

Almost had the top spot but not quite, it’s ‘Assassin’s Creed: Victory’. The game is set to be released late this year but a date is yet to be decided. We don’t know much about the upcoming addition to the franchise except that a few photos were leaked last month, which reveals a brand new assassin and appears to be set during the Victorian era in London (hooray!). One of the leaked photo sequences also reveals a grappling hook item which, according to Kotaku, allows the character to attach to pretty much any surface around and escape or close in on a target with immense speed. Well, I guess it’s goodbye Napoleon and hello Jack the Ripper!

It’s finally here and I’m sure you’ve seen me prattling on about this left, right and centre, but it’s my No.1.. ‘The Order: 1886’. This is set to be out on 20th February on the PS4. The game is set in an alternate history London, where an old order of knights keep all of the world safe from half breed monsters, who are a combination of animal and man. In the game, you are a knight, a member of an ancient order, and you will take centre stage in this fight for mankind’s survival. As the game takes place in an alternate history, you will be able to interact with real-world historical characters who will aid you in your quest. You will see and navigate real places. You will not only be a witness, but have a hand in real events that have unfolded. Being a huge, huge fan of Steampunk, this had to be my No. 1, and just look at the weaponry!!

So there we have it. My top ten releases for 2015! I hope it has given you an insight of sorts and has encouraged you to purchase ALL OF THE GAMES YOU SEE HERE!!
