It’s nothing unusual for video games to collaborate with other well-known businesses. Many popular games have been featured on a variety of consumer items for years. These agreements between corporations generally benefit fans by providing limited-edition goods to acquire. Xbox just announced a new relationship with Trolli, showcasing a limited-edition Xbox Series S console. There is a competition to enter with the chance to win one of these new limited-edition Xbox Series S consoles.

Trolli is a German sweets manufacturer. The firm, which sells gummy worms, marshmallows, and soft licorice gums, has become well-known all over the world. The brand’s brightly coloured packaging is one of its most distinguishing characteristics. Trolli is the latest manufacturer of sweets to connect with video games. It appears that Xbox has noticed this and has chosen to create a system based on the colourful candy.

Microsoft unveiled the limited-edition Trolli design for the Xbox Series S in a press release. As part of the Xbox and Trolli collaboration, the console’s design incorporates contrasting pink and blue edges with a black stripe running down the centre. The colours pop quite well, and the chosen colours remind me of something quite retro/cyber-punky.

PlayStation 20th Anniversary Dualshock 4 standalone will be made available this September 2015

PlayStation Europe have confirmed the release of the 20th Anniversary Dualshock 4 controller standalone, and that it will be available to purchase this September.

The controller, which has been made to look like the PS1, was originally released as a limited edition console bundle. A North American release has not yet been given, but it is due to come out across Europe in September.

However, unlike the controllers in the PS4 bundle, the Touchpad will feature its normal dots, instead of the iconic PlayStation button shapes. Only 12,300 20th Anniversary consoles were produced, originally, and the online auction for the very first one went roughly at about $129,000.

The whole idea of this limited edition release, in December 2014, was to celebrate 20 years since the first PlayStation launch back in 1994 in Japan. Needless to say, units sold out in a matter of minutes!

Batman: Arkham Knight

A limited edition PS4 has been created especially for Bats!

Bat fans, you’re in for a treat! A limited edition of the PS4 has been created and will come out alongside the Batman: Arkham  Knight game this June 2015. The console will be a 500GB in Steel Grey, with a Batman faceplate. It also comes with a matching controller!

There will also be a standard Arkham Knight bundle which will include a classic black PS4 console. Both SKUs will include some in-game DLC content as well, you’ll be pleased to know. 

Batman: Arkham Knight has been delayed twice already this year, which is a bit of a pain! It’s new release date though is 23rd June 2015. Well worth the wait though!

PlayStation 20th Anniversary treats!
Sony reveal a LIMITED EDITION PS4, with an original PSOne finish, to celebrate PlayStation’s 20th Anniversary

My, my, my.. Christmas festivities have just gotten a whole lot more festive! Take a look at what Sony have revealed..

All packed up in a very spesh commemorative box, the custom PS4 is resplendent with a familiar silver/grey finish, along with a small insignia etched onto the chassis that shows each unit’s unique number. The DualShock 4 controller is coloured in the same way and brings back the original PlayStation logo. An even closer look reveals that the controller’s touch-pad has also been embellished with “20” marked in it’s pattern.

Shuhei Yoshida, the president of Sony’s game studio division, announced the new console this morning to mark two decades of greatness for the business. The console will be available to pre-order this Saturday 6 December, with even further details announced at the PlayStation Experience on the same day! Yoshida also stated on the PlayStation Blog that  “Sony Computer Entertainment, founded by my mentor Ken Kutaragi, was a project borne out of sincere passion and deep admiration for the craft of game development.”

Yoshida also went on to say that  “The mid ’90s were an exciting time for game developers, driven by the explosion of powerful but affordable 3D graphics rendering hardware and the birth of many young and adventurous development studios. The original PlayStation was meant to embody that sense of adventure and discovery, that sense that anything was possible.”
