Games from the dearly beloved game series have finally made an official appearance on PC (March 30th, 2021) which has been long awaited by fans of the franchise. Originally being released on PlayStation 2, the series has taken a long journey with the games being released across various consoles like the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and more! Although they were playable on PC through the use of emulators, it has now become possible to buy them and play an official version released by the developers.

The games: Kingdom Hearts 1 and Kingdom Hearts 2 Remix editions, Kingdom Hearts 3, and the rhythm game Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory were at first released on the Epic Games Store (EGS) platform (known for games like Fortnite, Rocket League and Sifu). However, like many other games released exclusively on EGS, such as Borderlands 3, Control and Metro Exodus, were later available elsewhere, such as Steam.

The EGS exclusive release was rather controversial, as many gamers are against the company for their practices of securing exclusivity for popular game releases, as well as their marketing tactics of frequently giving away free games on their platform. As a result, there have been a number of gamers who have boycotted buying games on the EGS store, or even using the platform at all. EGS has a dedicated subreddit forum with almost 39 thousand followers who post negative news involving the company as well as posts you might call “hate posts”.

Fans across different online platforms such as Reddit and Steam discussion forums have mentioned waiting patiently for an announcement from Square Enix, the games series publisher. As the 1 year exclusivity period to EGS has now ended since March this year, there is high speculation that the games will soon come to the more popular PC gaming platform, Steam.

Another thing that needs to be taken into account with the potential release on Steam, is that it will hopefully be tested and ready to be played on the Steam Deck, which is the new gaming console from Valve, the creators of Steam. The rollout of the “console” is still taking place, with orders being backordered through 2023. Whilst the appearance and usage is that of a gaming console similar to the Nintendo Switch, it is in fact basically a compact computer which uses the Linux operating system.

The post Kingdom Hearts games are coming to Steam!? first appeared on Get2Gaming.

While Valves steam deck still has many unknowns, especially when it comes to the library of games it will work with, there have been  4 recent additions to the list of games confirmed to work with the platform. On Friday, Valve announced that Arma 3, DayZ, Unturned and Planetside 2 all feature working battlEye anti-Cheat when playing them through Proton (Proton being the Software the steam Deck will use to make Windows games run in Linux). These game join ARK: Survivisl Evolved and Mount And Blade II: Bannerlord for a total of six windows titles that Linux users can play without interference from anti-cheat software.

This number is… Rather low however you slice it. According to valve the technology is ready to go and all developers need to do is reach out to ask for it to be activated in their games. The current list is also missing some steam heavy hitters, such as Rainbow Six Siege and PUBG. as of right now we still do not have a full picture of all of the games that will work with Steam Deck and its Linux-Based operating system, but it is something valve have promised to clear up through a new “Verification Program” before the handheld launches in early 2022.

The Steam Deck, valves handheld Linux based gaming device, is well on its way to launching in December. While they have already sorted out some of the bigger issues with the device and how Anticheats work with the proton layer, there are still a few games which may not work at all on the steam deck. To that end, valve has today shown off its new “verification system” for steam deck

The system will work as such: Games will achieve 1 of 4 ratings, which are as follows:

• “Verified” means that the game works on Steam Deck with no problem. Just download and play, and (at least theoretically) nothing will go wrong. Verified games work both with the console controllers and the onscreen keyboard.
• “Playable” means that the game will run on steam deck, but may need some extra TLC and Config customisation to actually work as it would on pc.
• “Unsupported” means a game will not run on a steam deck, no matter what you do. Notably, the demo game used for this from Valve is “Half-life: Alyx” all but confirming a lack of VR support for the handheld system.
• And finally, “Unknown” means that Valve dont know if the game works or not because they haven’t checked. These games may technically fall into any of the 3 other categories, but you will have to work that out yourself.
• 

Anyone knowledgeable about PC gaming may have noticed that these categories heavily resemble how Emulators show what games can be played on them, and thats not a coincidence. At its core, the steam deck is a PC emulator for linux, just one that comes on a fancy handheld device.

Valve have also told Developers that they can now manually submit their games for verification, although they have also said that it might not always be necessary. “Important” games will be automatically reviewed by Valve without the developers submitting them. What “Important” means in this context is up for debate though.

Valve have even said that, even if a developer doesn’t want their game on the steam deck, there wont be a way to hide the game from the systems inbuilt store.

Clown House is available as a full game download. Get ready to jump behind the sofa!

This game does exactly what it says on the tin. You have to contend with (supposedly) the creepiest of all things known to man – the clown!

The aim of the game is simple. Just get a hold of the key and escape the house. Easy enough? NO! The key is hidden, and hidden in a different location each time. Of course, there are the clowns milling about who may or may not kill you. Sometimes they’ll just be content and leave you alone, but other times they may be hot on your heels!

Having said this, death does overrun content in this game, so you should probably continue to run throughout the game! You are also issued with a gun, but it carries only one bullet. We suggest saving this bullet as the game will be a lot more interesting without using it, and experiencing peril (if you’re a thrill seeker?).

The game produces many scares and jump throughout, so if you can’t stand the sight of clowns… The definitely play it!

This digital board-game will be arriving on the PS4 this September 2015, and has a Game of Thrones air about it!

The director and founder of League of Geeks, Trent Kusters, announced yesterday on the PlayStation Blog that this brand new and exciting digital board-game will coming to the PS4 in September 2015. Here is what he had to say about it..

“After our successful Kickstarter campaign and a solid stint on Early Access, Armello’s community has helped us hone the game into the unique, polished and deeply thoughtful experience it is today,” Trent Kusters has said. “However, we’ve also been secretly working away on a PlayStation version of Armello that uses every inch of the console, with brand new high end assets, redesigned UI and controls specifically designed to ensure feels right at home on PS4.”

The game “thrusts players into a Game of Thrones-esque struggle for power” in a board-game like style. The are eight animal heroes which the player can chose from, to battle enemies and, finally, fight to gain the throne!

Armello is expected to launch in full on Windows PC, Mac, and Linux this September.

Octodad: Dadliest Catch

The highly popular game makes nearly $5m as sales approach 500k units!

Everyone likes a bit of Octodad.. You have to admit it! The dashing chap is not only a father of two, but a flipping octopus for heaven’s sake! 

‘Octodad: Dadliest Catch’ has made almost $5m in revenue after, since it’s release a year ago, shifting 459,753 copies of the game. The developer, Young Horses, has revealed that it’s sole team of nine spent approximately 28,208 hours on the game… Good heavens… But all the hard work has certainly paid off!

Overall, Octodad took two years and seven months to make, and the highest individual hours from a team member clocked in at 5,055. That’s dedication right there.. 

61% of the games sales came from PC, while 32.6% came from the PS4 release. Mac and Linux made up 6.3% of sales between them.

Darkest Dungeon

A brand new and wonderfully gothic role-playing game

Now with THIS.. I am most definitely intrigued! Darkest Dungeon comes to you from Red Hook Studios and will be available to play on the PS4, PS Vita, Mac OS X, Linux and Microsoft Windows from 3rd February 2015, on Steam Early Access.

Darkest Dungeon is a challenging gothic rogue-like turn-based RPG about the psychological stresses of adventuring. Recruit, train, and lead a team of flawed heroes against unimaginable horrors, stress, famine, disease, and the ever-encroaching dark. You will also be uncovering strange mysteries, and pit the heroes against an array of fearsome monsters with an innovative strategic turn-based combat system.

“We plan to be in Early Access for approximately six months, which we will use to add more dungeons, more character classes, and many new features to continue adding to the game. Our intent is to release the full version of the game in the 2nd half of 2015.”, the developers have said previously. “For the full release, we are planning to add more dungeon environments (one of which is the Darkest Dungeon), more character classes, story mode integration, additional monsters, items, quirks, narration, and dialogue. We also have reserved some time to add other new features and make changes based upon player feedback!”

The game is already sounding and looking fantastic! Here are a few more nuggets which you can expect from Darkest Dungeon:

• The Affliction System – battle not only monsters, but stress! Contend with paranoia, masochism, fear, irrationality, and a host of gameplay-meaningful quirks!

 Star Citizen enters Guinness Book of World Records
This bundle of joy is the highest crowdfunded effort EVER!!

Chris Roberts, of Roberts Space Industries, has announced that Star Citizen will go into the records, “not as the largest crowdfunded game of all time, but as the largest crowdfunded anything of all time.”

The project has so far topped $55m across all of it’s platforms and crowdfunding campaigns, almost two years after it’s $6m Kickstarter campaign.

“Ship sales and new members of our community are the two main fund raising sources,” Chris Roberts explains.

An estimated release for the game is 2015 on Windows PC and Linux.

Very impressive and very much looking forward to the finished product!
