The new Rocket League mobile spin-off game is now available worldwide

Rocket League has just gotten bigger thanks to the mobile spin-off game, Rocket League Sideswipe, being released worldwide today.

Announced back in March, the new, car-based soccer mobile game developed by Psyonix Studios started to roll out on November 15 in Oceania but has now been made available worldwide.

Rocket League Sideswipe

Rocket League Sideswipe takes the core, competitive gameplay of Rocket League and reimagines it for a mobile device. It is a more simplified version, with the gameplay format being in 2D rather than 3D. Players control their car with a virtual joystick on the left side of the screen, while buttons on the right handle jumping and boosting. There are also advanced mechanics, just like Rocket League, for those who want to climb the Competitive Ranks, and the mobile game offers robust car customization similar to Rocket League.

Other differences that appear in the mobile game also include the car’s boost auto-regenerating so there’s no need to seek out recharging pads, and teams are limited to a maximum of two players per side, offering a new perspective on the field in 1v1 or 2v2 matches. Available game styles include the game’s standard soccer mode as well as a basketball-style “Hoops” version.

The Games will be fast-paced, 2-minute matches that you can play with friends, either local or online. Rocket League Sideswipe is currently in “pre-season” mode ahead of Season 1’s kickoff, which will be announced at a later date.

Rocket League Sideswipe is now available to download on iOS and Android.

Rocket League Sideswipe, the Psyonix’s new mobile game, had launched into pre-season. starting in Oceania with a wider launch coming on the way. The game was revealed for iOS and Android earlier in March as a mobile, 2D version of Rocket League. You’ll be able to play solo or team up with a friend for two on two matches.

Instead of the regular 3D perspective of Rocket League, Sideswipe has a 2D side-on view, as the name would suggest. It uses simple touch controls for casual players, according to Psyonix, but will also offer advanced control mechanics for players who desire more of a challenge. As with the original game, it will offer a ranking system for competitive modes and a variety of customization options.

As the gameplay trailer above shows, it looks to capture the spirit of the original game. As the developers have explained, logging in with your Epic Games account for online matches will let you earn extra XP across both Rocket League and Sideswipe. This is a great incentive for fans of the original to check it out, even if they’re not usually into mobile games.

Every time you level up in Sideswipe, you’ll earn a ‘Bonus Win’ in Rocket League. Then, once you win an Online Match in Rocket League, you’ll get extra XP for that Bonus Win. Bonus Wins can also be earned for Sideswipe by playing Rocket League, so enjoy the extra XP in both games,” Psyonix wrote.

Psyonix no doubt launched Rocket League Sideswipe in Oceania to shake out any bugs before is global launch, which should be before the end of the year. So far, however, Psyonix has yet to provide any details on when exactly it will be.

It has been a whole 6 years since Rocket League originally released on the PC and Playstation 4. And coincidentally, yesterday marked the fourth anniversary of Rocket League’s release on the Nintendo Switch.

Despite how long it’s been since release, the game is still going strong. Thanks to its success, it is still receiving new content. And we’re about to get even more!

Psyonix has announced in an official blog post that the game’s 5th season will begin on November 17th. Psyonix will feature “a new Arena variant, Competitive Season, Rocket Pass, and more”. There will also be “a game update that will complete all the calculations for launch day on November 16th”, at exactly Midnight in the UK.

Of course, there will also be the wrap-up of Season 4, and competitive rewards.

Tournament Credits will also be reset when Season 4 ends, just like in the transition from Season 3 to Season 4. Existing Tournament Credits will convert to All-Star Cup Rewards. Players who have participated in a Competitive Tournament and have between 0-12,000 Tournament Credits will receive one All-Star Cup Reward. Players who have more than 12,000 Tournament Credits will receive additional All-Star Cup Rewards depending how many Tournament Credits they have. See below for the breakdown.

0-12,000 Tournament Credits — receive 1 All-Star Cup Reward

12,001-24,000 Tournament Credits — receive 2 All-Star Cup Rewards

24,001-46,000 Tournament Credits — receive 3 All-Star Cup Rewards

The Ghostbusters are making a triumphant return to Rocket League! The iconic gaming series is no stranger to combining with popular properties across the years. Players have experienced the likes of James Bond’s famous Aston Martin, Fast and Furious’ Nissan Skyline and even the Batmobile appeared  last month.Thankfully , Rocket League is set to receive  new content from a returning franchise- and we know who to call.

That’s right. The famous Ghost-busting team are set to reappear in our favourite arcade car game. Previously,  Rocket League had Ghostbusters content for its seasonal Halloween event Haunted Hallows in 2020. We’ll be seeing a return to the multiple features introduced last time out, as well as added extras on top of that. Let’s have a quick look into what ghoulish goodies we’re going to be playing with this month! But first, check out the contents original trailer two years ago:

Rocket League Ecto-1 Bundle: Everything You Need To Know

The Ghostbusters content for Rocket League will include the Ecto-1 Bundle, which will be available in the Ghostbusters Tab in the Item Shop for 1100 Credits. Clearly, this will allow you to take control of the Ghostbusters’ iconic ghost hunting vehicle. Not only this, but you will be able to change the Decal of the car, depending on whether you want that classic white look from the movies or a more damaged look showing your experience. Have a quick look at everything else which is included in the bundle below:

That’s right, everybody’s favourite vehicular football video game published by Psyonix, Rocket League, has received a new car in order to promote the new James Bond movie in cinemas now, No Time To Die. 

This isn’t the first time the suave secret agent’s vehicles have made an appearance in Rocket League, however, this is the first time the game has ever had a hybrid vehicle.

Aston Martin Valhalla in Rocket League

The Aston Martin Valhalla is an up-coming mid-engine sports car developed by British manufacturer Aston Martin in collaboration with Red Bull Racing. It is designed as a sports car intended to be used as an everyday car (if you’re James Bond) and uses cutting-edge hybrid technology for that reason. The Rocket League edition features the same technology and comes with Dominus Hitbox, Reel Life Decal specific to 007’s Aston Martin Valhalla, unique engine audio, and its own signature wheels.

It is being sold in Rocket League via Epic Games Store for 1100 credits and will be available from October 7 until October 13.

Players can also have an attempt at three in-game challenges to unlock a Bond-themed avatar border, banner, and player title.

There will also be a limited-time purchase available for the Bond enthusiasts out there to buy a Bond 007 Collection that comes equipped with the Aston Martin Valhalla as well as the classic Aston Martin DB5. The DB5 was added to Rocket League back in July but players will have the opportunity to buy both for 2000 credits from October 7 until October 13.
