In theory, I never watched a single stream, but in practice, I’ve written two impartial to praising articles on Pokimane, so you could say I’m coming out as Poki-curious!

Pokimane (Imane Anys) discusses many topics in her streams, but usually avoids anything regarding relationships on Twitch. Besides occasional joking asides and hints, she doesn’t like going in-depth on the matter. Being an attractive successful online celebrity, one could argue part of the vagueness is due to maintaining a wider audience. Probably nothing as draconian as areas of the Kpop and Idol industry, but hey, it’s an honest living and she’s not under any obligation to talk about something she doesn’t want to.

And outside of potential reasons that lean towards the parasocial, Pokimane has experienced harassment and Twitch raids from others in the past, so makes sense she’d rather keep her personal and public lives separate. Like Spider-Man, if Spider-Man was a 20-something gamer-girl!

Enough Mansplaining on What You Think, What Did Pokimane Say!? On a stream, Pokimane’s friend Kevin (and speculated secret boyfriend by many viewers) was asked during a stream with the two if they were dating. He seemingly jokingly turned to her and asked if they were dating, at which point Pokimane looked uncomfortable and froze up briefly. She later quickly explained her momentary discomfort was because it felt like she’s back in grade school being ‘put on the spot’.

“Now imagine if a reporter came and forcibly asked who your crush is,” – Imane Anys, adding to her ‘put on the spot in grade school’ analogy.

Fortnite encourages players to crack open a boy with the cold ones by cracking a cold one with the boys! Needless to say, the frat boy culture of Activision Blizzard may be on the decline, but at least we can all enact a much safer version of crazy beer keg stunts thanks to the power of online gaming… Why yes, the word ‘may’ IS doing literally all the legwork in that sentence!

As the Winterfest Fortnite event will be ending on January 6th, the devs at Epic Games thought it would be nice to throw in a few extra gameplay items on January 4th, which of course leads us to the subject of today’s blog, The Shield Keg! How does it work? I’m so glad I asked!

Let’s set the scene and say you and JohnnyScienceNamer42069 (more commonly known as Antoine Lavoisier) are making your guns go shooty-bang-bang at a couple enemy players. Now, because you’re not exactly a black belt in the noble art of shooting people in the face, it’s safe to assume you and your partner in crime took a lot of damage in the heat of battle. So what do you do? Well, turns out you stumbled upon The Titular Shield Keg while you and your friend were ducking for cover in Quirkily-Named-Alliterative-Location-87. So, before your pursuers catch up, you have the bright idea of picking up The Titular Shield Keg, throwing it on the ground and then getting soaked in whatever suspiciously viscous liquid was inside. Luckily, the contents of the Shield Keg also happen to regenerate the health and shield of anyone in the splash zone for a limited time. So besides possibly needing a change of draws afterwards, I’d say that worked out pretty well!

You can find Shield Kegs throughout the Fortnite island on the ground, in chests, supply drops, Your Mum, anywhere really! And if you’ve saved up enough gold bars (which you can often find in cash registers and sofas in-game), you can also trade them to buy Shield Kegs from Lt. John Llama and The Scientist… Why yes, Fortnite does have lore, I’m just as surprised as you!

With all that in mind, do I recommend the Shield Keg as a viable healing tool? Yes and no. Although it heals you up alot, it can sometimes take it’s sweet time with how fast it regenerates your health and shield, so you’re better off using it in multiplayer modes where the spraying function means it’ll be more immediately helpful to your teammates.

The Shield Keg is meant to be a shield-based accompaniment to another item, the Med-Mist, which was introduced in the previous hotfix 19.00 update of Fortnite. As for other new items: Tents allow players to carry 2-3 extra items, as well as slowly-but-surely heal up your health. You can also get Spider-Man web shooters that control surprisingly well! May not be the most powerful thing in the world, but tis a welcomed replacement for the Baller vehicle that I’ve missed since it’s departure from Fortnite.

The Sanrio character will be available to purchase on the game’s release date

Everybody’s favourite Japanese character from Sanrio (after Gudetama of course) Hello Kitty is joining everybody’s favourite upcoming arcade platform game, Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania. 

SEGA announced the news that Hello Kitty is going to be released as part of the planned premium DLC for the 20th anniversary game of the Super Monkey Ball series when the game launches on October 5th.

Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania was announced back in June and is the enhanced remaster of the previous Super Monkey Ball games, Super Monkey Ball, Super Monkey Ball 2 and Super Monkey Ball Deluxe that will be performing on the same engine as Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD, to celebrate the series’ 20th anniversary.

The adorable Sanrio character will be joining Persona’s Morgana as part of the premium DLC, alongside the already confirmed unlockable characters in the game that includes Yakuza’s Kazuma Kiryu, Jet Set Radio’s Beat, and Sonic and Tails. SEGA has also announced there will be character skins based on classic SEGA consoles available on DLC, including Dreamcast, Game Gear, and Saturn.

SEGA has previously teased there are plans to bring several iconic guest characters to Banana Mania so more characters could be announced before the game is released on October 5th.

Hello Kitty will be available for $4.99 (roughly £3.49) to purchase and Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania will be available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Switch, and PC.
