The future of the Yakuza spin-off Judgement has been unknown for a while now, but it seems there is hope for Yagami yet.

Concerns surrounding the lead character actor severing ties with the game studio lead fans to believe that would be it for Judgement. The most recent entry in the games series was the second of the series, Lost Judgement, which came out in 2021. The gritty crime investigation thriller was widely lauded as a worthy follow-up to the first iteration of the series, but rumours regarding the actor who provided Yagami’s voice and likeness exiting the series were rife even before its launch.

Though it is still uncertain as to whether the Judgement series will receive another game entry, the franchise seems set to continue in a new format. According to a report initially made by Japanese publication Nikkan Gendai and brought to attention for a global audience by Kotaku, TV Asahi is preparing to produce a television live-action series based on the Judgment franchise. Actor Takuya Kimura will supposedly reprise his role as PI Takayuki Yagami.

It’s been a while since we’ve had any updates at all regarding the Yakuza series. Though the sequel to Yakuza: Like a Dragon has been announced a while ago now, we’re still yet to hear any updates on its progress. There’s also the Kaito DLC arriving in Spring ’22.

While video games do occasionally hit the big screens, it’s not all that often we see a complete change of format. It’ll be interesting to see if the games continue at all, or if this is a permanent move to TV format for the Judgement series.

Geralt’s actor shows dedication to his role and wants to stay committed to the fantasy TV series.

Netflix found success in 2019 when the live-action adaptation of The Witcher was adored by fans far and wide. From readers to gamers to newcomers alike, The Witcher TV series has gained a huge fanbase and they’re all sitting on the edge of their seats waiting for season 2 (me included).

Now Henry Carvill, the actor for Geralt, has given hope he will get to stick around for a third season… and fourth, and fifth, and sixth.

The Witcher showrunner Lauren Hissrich said before the show had officially aired on Netflix that she had a seven-season plan for the show laid out in her head. The first season obviously was loved by all and with only a month away from the second season being released, Henry Carvill spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about how he feels with the potential to do seven seasons.

Carvill only had one reaction: “Absolutely. As long as we can keep telling great stories that honour [Witcher author Andrzej] Sapkowski’s work.”

The Witcher book series consists of six fantasy novels and 15 short stories written by the Polish author, so there is no worry the show will run out of content any time soon. There’s also The Witcher games that are the direct sequels to the books, so one assumes Lauren Hissrich might bring certain storylines over from those to include in the tv series.

The Witcher Season 2 debuts on Netflix on December 17 and it is believed that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be receiving a next-gen upgrade sometime soon.

What is system shock?

“System shock” is, or at this point was, a series of PC First person RPG’s which would serve as the progenitor of the “Immersive Sim” genre. While these days the series younger brother “Bioshock” may be better known, “System shock” should not be overlooked.

In “System shock” you play as a nameless hacker who, when trying to breach security on a massive mega corporation, is recruited by said mega-corp to help Remove all “Ethical Constraints” from the AI SHODAN. SHODAN is a part of the Citadel Space station. After the hacker wakes up from a cryo-sleep he went into, it turns out that (predictably) SHODAN has gone rogue and is now attempting to murder you and all humanity. Because we learnt nothing from Skynet it seems.

The original game is… rough to say the least. Even back at launch in 1994 the game was criticised for playing like a motherboard BIOS. These days you can pick up the enhanced edition by Nightdive on steam or GOG, which features a number of enhancements such as Native widescreen support and Mouse look. Yep, the original game had tank controls. 90s PC gaming everyone.

Both System Shock and its sequel where incredibly successful, however after the original studio “Looking glass” folded the rights became a mess. Hence Looking Glass’s successor, “Irrational Games”  chose to not even try to consolidate them and just Set about making a spiritual successor in Bioshock, which actually plays like a video game and sold way better than any of the system shock games.

The future of the franchise

The rights where finally dealt with in 2013 when Nightdive where able to get ahold of the rights and put out the afford mentioned enhanced edition. They are currently working on a Full remake of the first game, which has a demo out now.

As well as that, Another studio, “OtherSide” is currently (at least theoretically) working on system shock 3. I say theoretically because the publisher, Starbreeze, nearly folded recently and the studio has been acquired by Chinese company Tencent.

Among all of this, it has recently been announced that a TV show is in the works at the streaming site “Binge”, who specialise in Video game adaptations and that you have never heard of.

This wouldn’t be out of nowhere either. In an interview with Deadline, Nightdive CEO Stephen Kick said “I’ve always believed that a live-action adaptation of System Shock would be the perfect medium to retell the harrowing story of Citadel station and its rogue AI that subjects the crew to unimaginable horror,”

“System Shock” and “System Shock 2” are available to purchase now on Steam or GOG, with the gog Versions being more advisable due to being more up-to-date and coming with some fan-patches pre installed.

The post “System Shock” might be getting a TV series. first appeared on Get2Gaming.

Fans of Final Fantasy have already been fed by the plenty of updates Square Enix had to offer at E3 this year, but now it has been revealed a new animated series is in the works.

It was announced last night that the original and much loved PlayStation game would be getting an animated series by Square Enix social media manager, Sunil Godhania.

Originally released in 2000 and sold over five million copies worldwide, the game follows the thief Zidane Tribal, who is hired to kidnap a princess and ends up teaming up with to save her kingdom from evil forces. At the time, the game shifted away from realistic character designs towards a more cartoonish aesthetic; so already this is something that could work if done correctly.

The company co-developing the series is French animation Cyber Group Studios, who have previous experience adapting video game series into animated shows. They created the series for the lesser-known game Mini Ninjas and also created series based on Tom Sawyer and Zorro. The studio will also be in charge of distribution and are already supposedly preparing to pitch the show to broadcasters. The series is to be aimed at ages 8-13, yet it is being geared towards both die-hard fans and newcomers alike. Production is set to begin next year.

Final Fantasy has been turned into an animated series before, yet it didn’t directly follow a particular series and only had one series. This new show could be the result of Square Enix wanting to get back into the hype and fast-growing trend of video games being adapted into tv shows, with the success of Netflix’s Castlevania and other animated shows lined up in Netflix’s itinerary, such as Cyperpunk 2077 and Tomb Raider, and all the other latest video game adaptations that are listed here.

This news follows after this year’s Square Enix E3 conference, where they announced a ‘renaissance’ for the 30-year-old game series through the remastering of the original six Final Fantasy games that were released on NES and SNES. A new expansion for Final Fantasy XIV is going to be released on November 23 on Steam, PS4 and PS5 retrospectively and the company also announced Final Fantasy XVI is in development.

Narcos, a Netflix original series which took viewers behind the scenes of the almighty drug lord Pablo Escobar has returned. The first series which everyone loved made a massive impact all over the internet as people enjoyed watching Pablo Escobar going from nothing to having a multimillion pound empire. However, it was not just the money and drugs that people loved, they also got a great sensation of watching the famous DEA agent ‘Murphy’ and his partner Peña trying to take down the cocaine empire.

At the end of season 1 you would think that Pablo Escobar’s luxury life has come to an end seeing as his surrounded by thousands of soldiers who are trying to take him down! However these soldiers are not as tough as they look. This is because a group of soldiers just let the kingpin walk past them even though they are ordered to actually capture Escobar. It is obvious by this point that this season is going to be interesting as Pablo’s power over the Army is still obviously going on.

The photograph you can see above is perfect explanation of how Murphy’s character comes across as soon he appears in this series. After long hard battle trying to actually bring down Pablo, his relationship with Connie is also on a downfall as she is worried about the previous events coming back and having an impact on the family. Oh and the fact that Pablo Escobar is on the way back to his palace might be another reason why Murphy is not having the best day. However, I was surprised that Murphy was actually pretty happy Escobar was out as his described it as the “Fox is out the cage, and the hunt is back on.”

Even though Pablo had a few Army boys in his back pocket he still knew he was not safe as the President was still against him. Unfortunately for Pablo, he was right and the President put out an operation which was described as an ‘invasion’. This was because the streets were flooded with people he could trust to try and capture Escobar.

Now if you thought Escobar had it tough because the Army wanted his head, you are slightly  wrong. Other cartels were after Escobar now as he made some enemies while he was doing his sentence in jail. I suppose beating someone to their death who is important can have that effect.

However, some members of the other cartels obviously still fear what Escobar is capable of. I mean the man did just walk out of prison and continuing to live his life normal again!

Even though it seemed the world was against Pablo Escobar, he still had a loyal following and people still loved the guy. It is going to be exciting to see how this series is going to end. Will Escobar die? Well you will just have to watch and see for yourself!

A whole new Game-play from the new upcoming South Park: The Fractured Butt Whole has been released and you can tell this is going to be a massive success with the South Park fans. Matt Stone and Trey Parker have really been putting in the effort for this game and by the game-play which has been released you can tell the hard work is paying off.

It is very unusual for creators of a TV series to be seriously involved when a company such as Ubisoft take over to create a game inspired by the series.
