Last night’s State of Play broadcast showed off another online multiplayer action game in the form of Deathverse: Let it Die
A fan of Let it Die, Destruction Allstars, or Knockout City? With last night’s State of Play broadcast, a new game has been introduced that you can keep on your radar:
Deathverse is coming to the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 next year, and takes place in the same alternate universe as Grasshopper Manufacture’s Let It Die, the popular free-to-play PS4 game that launched in 2016. This new title is set hundreds of years in the future.
The premise is simple: in this “multiplayer survival action” game, you’re competing in a death-game TV show that’s taken over the world; it’s a battle royale where “survival is the only rule”. Check out the official gameplay reveal trailer on IGN’s YouTube channel:
You can use buzzsaws, katanas, hammers to defend yourself and fend off all those that would challenge your continued existence in the world. The more stylish your executions and skills, the more likes you’ll get from the audience, assumedly frothing at the mouth for more real-life megaviolence. The game will be primarily PvP, but will also include some PvE elements in the mix, too: “nigh-invincible Hunters” are going to be deployed during the match to spice things up, and prove that survival isn’t just about killing other people – it’s about avoiding death yourself.
Here is the official backstory of the game:
Set hundreds of years after the events of Let It Die, Deathverse: Let It Die brings players into the world of smash-hit reality show ‘Death Jamboree.’ Hosted by the charismatic Bryan Zemeckis, with commentary from former Champion Queen B, the MCs’ personalities are just as colorful as the bloodstained stage. While it’s well known that ‘Death Jamboree’ is produced by the enigmatic Yotsuyama Broadcasting Company, the show’s past is steeped in mystery and led by a cabal of shadowy figures. It’s time to master your favorite weapon, captivate fans with showstopping moves, and gain the admiration of a global audience to become a rising star.

Expect to see coming in Spring 2022 for both the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
