Lost In Cult’s Gamer’s Magazine Has A 3rd Issue Coming & Here’s Some Art For It

‘Lock On Magazine’ created by Lost In Cult Uk, their first issue is sold out and has also created a waiting list for their 2nd wave of readers to order their first issue. They have also released their second issue featuring NieR, Zelda, PlayStation and many Game Journalists. 

Lost in Cult hasn’t revealed much on Issue 3 however, they have showcased a little Art for us.

In Lock-on Vol. 003, coming in Q1 2022, we welcome @swordandsnore to illustrate the first article in a trilogy by @ewanwilson4 about the studios beloved classics. Full art reveal in 2022.

Considering we won’t see much for a little while, it’s certainly good to know Lost In Cult will be coming out with the 3rd issue in 2022, in the meantime, we can enjoy issue 1 and issue 2.

Bittersweet ending For The Sky: Cotl – Season of Flight

Season of Flight is the second season in Sky: Children of The Light since ‘That Game Company’ (A.K.A. TGC) introduced Sky: Children of The Light to Nintendo Switch, the 29th of June, the award-winning company for their game ‘Journey’ in 2013, finally expanded the platform for their massive MMO community.

Recently, TGC has been receiving a mix of positive and negative emotions from fans, mostly from European and American fans have been negative and has even threatened to report TGC to the authorities due to their ‘lack of communication’.

Some Nintendo Switch players sent in complaints about the fact that the game wouldn’t run properly for almost a week, many players experienced crashes and for some, the game wouldn’t open. They had been worried about the adventure pass they paid for and not being able to participate in the event.

Many western fans are asking That Game Company for compensation for the candles and days that they missed.

Meanwhile, TGC’s Japan audience seems to be very grateful for the Season of Flight, despite the difficulties players have been experiencing and even thank TGC for all their hard work.

What is Sky: Children of Light?

Sky: Children of Light comes under the ‘wholesome’ games category and was originally released in 2019 for IOS, then 2020 for Android. It’s an open-world exploration game, where a player can go through seven different realms while befriending other players to help them along the way.

The player follows the story of ‘The Children of Light’ who witnesses their world falling apart in seven different realms after the stars fell from the constellations out of the sky. As a part of this group, it is the player’s quest to find all the stars and restore them.  This is achieved by exploring the areas, sharing love and light around the kingdoms to awake the ancestors that perished and find out the hidden truth so the stars can be restored. While the storyline is minimal, the concept of becoming friends with different players, chatting and heading out on a great journey, ties it all together.

Ori and The Will Of The Wisps & Studio Ghibli Vibes

Is it just me or does this gameplay have a little bit of a Studio Ghibli feel to it? The music, the environment and the creatures remind me a lot of what I would see in Princess Mononoke, My neighbour Totoro or Spirited Away, some have even compared it Legend of Zelda.

Ori and The Will of The Wisps Nintendo Switch  is more than just an aesthetic 2D Platformer. It’s perfect for Anime Lovers! Without revealing too much, Ori and the blind forest is a story that follows a guardian spirit, aiming to restore life into a broken family and the forest. As many of us know, Studio Ghibli films concentrate a lot on magic and the environment.

While the appearance isn’t anime-like, the plot is just as heart-warming. The soundtrack is orchestral and suits each scene very well, the visuals are without a doubt the games strongest asset, but the mechanics are what makes this game amazing, they help enhance the experience. Puzzles, combat and gaining certain abilities help you to progress in the game as it would with any adventure game, however, we get to see the impact it has on the main character and also how it affects our gameplay. Such as the main character almost grovelling throughout the forest.

It’s a great game for anyone who is looking for a relaxing, yet emotional adventure game.

This One Addition Could’ve Changed Animal Crossing New Horizons Forever

We’re talking about the Nook Phone’s Camera, specifically the Handheld mode. Ever since Nintendo introduced handheld camera mode to Animal Crossing: New Horizons it’s been game-changing, and not just because we can take pictures of our favourite villagers.

It’s game-changing because this is the very first time we get to see the Animal Crossing world in first-person. We can view homes at a 360-degree angle, walk around and get photos of the atmosphere from a personal view. But what did Nintendo do wrong?

Nintendo’s Big Mistake With Animal Crossing: New Horizons Update

If you’ve played around with the camera handheld mode enough, you’ll notice that we can only enjoy the 360-degree view indoors. When the player is outdoors, they can not turn the camera 360-degrees and can only view the world from a parallel viewpoint.

This means the player has to constantly walk left or right to view every item and can only view the atmosphere from an on-front perspective.

It’s such a shame to see such a great feature go to waste, it would have been great for players to switch between third-person to first-person whenever they please, especially when visiting another island. If Nintendo allowed 360-degree angles outdoors this would have added a great deal of versatility to the game.

Handheld Camera In The Roost – Brewster’s Cafe

Unfortunately, in the Roost (Brewster’s Cafe) when in handheld camera mode, for some odd reason, only allows the player to look around 180 degrees. It feels very limiting in a place that’s supposed to be relaxing. If we invite a villager over, we want to be able to view them from the front and not an odd angle from the side all the time. Perhaps even view Brewster from the front of the bar as well, which for some odd reason, the player has no access to.

Let’s hope Nintendo add something in the future to allow this new feature to become a little more versatile.

5 Facts About Kapp’n From Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Kapp’n is a special Animal Crossing Character that’s held close to the hearts of people that’s played the older Animal Crossing Games. If you’re familiar with older games such as the original Animal Crossing, Animal Crossing: Wild World or Animal Crossing: City Folk, you may know some of these facts about Kapp’n already. If you started with Animal Crossing: New Leaf or Animal Crossing: New Horizons, you may be less familiar with some of these.

1. Kapp’n was once Lean & Mean

If you’ve been playing through the Animal Crossing: New Horizons Update, you should have gotten used to some of Kapp’n’s dialogue. On your visit to a secret island, Kapp’n says he something along the lines of ‘You might not believe me, but back in the day I used to be lean and mean!’

Well, if you follow Japanese mythology, you wouldn’t doubt Kapp’n for a second. Kapp’n may look like a turtle but is also known as a ‘Kappa’ which is a Japanese swamp monster, one that can be found by rivers, streams or ponds. They often pray on women or young children.

Kappa’s are known to be very strong however if you look closely at Kapp’n’s head, you’ll notice a white circle. That circle is actually a bowl full of water. That’s right, the top of a Kappa’s head is a bowl of water, if Kapp’n falls over and the water empties from his head, Kapp’n will die.

That being said, if a human were to get attacked by a Kappa, they could try knocking one over, but Kappa’s are known to be a lot stronger than humans and that fighting one will result in more of a punishment than just death.

2. Kapp’n used to flirt with the Player

If you were a female player in Animal Crossing: City Folk, you would have received some…’funny’ dialogue from Kapp’n where he used to flirt with the player, saying that she’s pretty and mention that he’s available. We are unsure of whether Kapp’n was married at the time and looking for mischief or whether it was genuine.

A similar thing also happened in Animal Crossing: New Leaf, where Kapp’n would mention to female players, it would be subtle but it’s there.

However, it seems this has been removed completely from New Horizons, which is nice to know. Kapp’n will no longer make players feel uncomfortable or make it a running joke to flirt with females. While Kapp’n probably means no harm, it’s nice to know Nintendo took into consideration that a grown ‘man’ flirting with possibly underage players is very inappropriate.

3. Kapp’n Has Driven Boat, Car and Bus

Kapp’n knows how to drive other vehicles, he’s been seen briefly in Animal Crossing: Wild World at the beginning of the game, driving the player to their new town in a taxi. In Animal Crossing: City Folk Kapp’n is seen regularly when the player goes to the city and gets the bus to the city area for their shopping.

Facts About Animal Crossing: New Horizons Special Character ‘Leif’?

Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ character  ‘Leif’ has come a long way. He was first introduced as a plant-loving sloth in Animal Crossing: New Leaf and operated a shopkeeper, who had some special items such as the silver shovel and also sold trees and plants for the player to buy.

Who is Animal Crossing: New Horizons Leif?

In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Leif’s role hasn’t changed, only this time he doesn’t have a building for a shop, but more of a street market and sells vegetables, bushes and flowers that the player can’t obtain in Nook’s Cranny.

Ingredients for recipes that involve tomatoes, potatoes, carrots, flour, sugar and pumpkins can all be can be bought from Leif. Growing your own wheat and sugarcane allow you to craft sugar and flour. The pumpkins can just be picked once their grown, no crafting required. Leif has come to play a big part in Animal Crossing: New Horizons since the 2.0 Update, as he allows the players to get access to certain plants that can only be obtainable on a trip with Kapp’n. 

So what else do we know about Leif?

3 Things You Might Not Know About Leif

1. Leif has plant shaped hair

Leif looks adorable with his hat off, finally, we get to see the Sloth exposed. While some may expect Leif to be completely bald, he actually has tiny plant shaped hair, similar to a green sprout. It’s very fitting to a sloth-like him.

2. Leif has a de-weeding service

Since update 2.0, Leif has gotten their own little shop stand at Harv’s island, it costs 700,000 bells to get him to arrive. It may be known, but many haven’t been made aware of this service yet. If a player time travels too far or perhaps hasn’t played in a long time or maybe just isn’t maintaining their island, they will get weeds growing everywhere.

Leif has a service that allows the player to get the weeds removed by the next day, however, this will only work if the player has a lot of weeds on their island. If there’s only a few, he will say he doesn’t see many for him to do the job. (Technically telling the player they can do it themselves).

3. Leif’s sharp claws most likely do all the work

If you’re unaware, Leif is a sloth, and sloths are quite vicious attackers, especially with their extremely sharp claws. They are sharp as knives and can easily cut things up without a problem. This includes the plants that they eat. This will explain why Leif chose to work with plants. It’s an easy task for him and comes naturally.

Fruit In Animal Crossing: New Horizons is Very Important

Animal Crossing: New Horizons fruit is important. Not just for aesthetic reasons or variety, but for crafting and giving gifts to villagers to get the rare villager photo.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons has a variety of fruits available, not as many as Animal Crossing New Leaf, unfortunately, but it’s nice to know Nintendo has added the same amount to resemble the older games, like Animal Crossing, Animal Crossing: Wild World and Animal Crossing: City Folk.

How to get All the Animal Crossing: New Horizons Fruits

The player can obtain all the fruits by either going to another island with Nook Mile Tickets, visiting a friend’s island with other fruit, waiting for a villager to send one in the post or finding one in the Resident Services recycling box. Nook Mile Tickets can be obtained from the Nook Stop in resident services.

With fruits, you can easily craft many of the fruit DIYs such as a peach chair, a peach surprise box, pear wardrobe, apple dress or cherry speakers! Having a fruit-themed room or island can look very eventful. These items can not be bought in Nook’s Cranny and are exclusive to craft from the DIY.

Villager Friendship Points

Another reason to have all the Animal Crossing: New Horizon fruits are because collecting exactly 3 foreign fruits (one different from your local island fruit) and giving it wrapped to a villager will give you maximum friendship points from a gift for that day.

With a piece of clothing or furniture item, it’s not 100% guaranteed the player will get the maximum friendship points for that villager, this even goes for crafted items. It’s a lot less risky to give the villager a stack of foreign fruit, as this means you’ll be guaranteed success each time.

Once you’ve reached enough friendship points, you’ll be able to acquire a friendship photo from your favourite villager. These are extremely rare and do take a while to get, but once you get one, it’ll be a framed picture of them with a few unique words of wisdom on the back.

Island Aesthetic & Cooking

Lastly, having a nice variety of fruit allows players to cook more recipes, since the Animal Crossing New Horizons 2.0 Update, players have been able to unleash their creativity by cooking dishes and placing them around the island.  Not to mention, these dishes look amazing around the island!

Fun Fact: If you eat the fruit, your villager will gain a certain amount of strength to dig up whole trees or break rocks! Many have used fruit trees to make a mini-grove and some players even collect a certain amount of fruit for their travelling to help them collect materials. Fruit is very useful.

Real-Life Animal Crossing: New Horizons Cherry Speakers Made By Fan

Yes, They’re real!

Animal Crossing: New Horizons has an amazing amount of new furniture from the Animal Crossing: New Horizons 2.0. update, however, one fan, in particular, is still showing appreciation for one of the original items. The Cherry Speakers.

As much as we miss the iconic watermelon furniture, the cherry fruit is one of the most popular amongst the Animal Crossing Fandom, so it’s only right they have cherry-themed items.

Reddit User ‘Oomoo_Amazing’ spent their time through blood, sweat and tears to recreate the cherry speakers, not only are these speakers aesthetically pleasing, but they sound good as well.

They are fully functional and as said by the creator ”Yes!! It plays the full animal crossing soundtrack from New Horizons! And thank you!!” That’s lead us to believe that the Animal Crossing: New Horizons soundtracks will be pre-set, of course, they could add other Animal Crossing soundtracks, purely for nostalgic reasons, but the cherry speaker is exclusive to New Horizons.

In Animal Crossing New Horizons, a typical in-game cherry speaker requires a DIY recipe to obtain it or a player can trade with another player to get it. However, after obtaining the DIY, the player needs 10 Cherries and two iron nuggets to craft it.

Why you need ALL the fruits in Animal Crossing New Horizons

It will be interesting to see the final result, the Reddit user has expressed that they will post their results once done! It’ll be a great device to sell, as many users have expressed their interest in purchasing the furniture and the creator has shown interest in selling the 3D printing files.

The creator mentioned they were worried about whether they can sell or not, that they may not be allowed. However, they might consider the fact many online sellers create merchandise that’s Animal Crossing themed. Hopefully, they make it available to the public.

To close off, the creator asked their audience if they have any suggestions on what to make next. “Any suggestions on my next project? I’ll be too bored after this is done! My husband is starting to get irritated with me filling up the house!”

‘The Gardener and The Wild Vines‘ is One of The Best Platformers You’ll Ever Play on Console & PC

‘The Gardener and The Wild Vines’ was released on the 5th November 2021 for Nintendo Switch, Xbox and PlayStation, but had previously been released on PC.

On the Steam Page, Finite Reflection Studios weren’t shy with their description of ‘The Gardener and The Wild Vines’:  “Leap, slash, and climb your way to the top of magical towers in this wholesome platformer about a gay Gardener on a quest to rescue his love.”

This is a game about gay love and it’s important to represent that in a fairy tale setting, as many fairy tales lack that LGBT+ representation.

So, What Is The Gardener And The Wild Vines Anyway?

The story follows a gardener who has a deep love for his Prince, a Prince that has been captured by a Dark Magician (Yugi Muto cries in the heart of the cards). The gardener makes some new friends along the way and ventures off to climb tower after tower, hacking flowers and growing vines to meet his true love at the top.

The Gardener and The Wild Vines doesn’t just follow the love of one man for another, this also touches on the topics of loss, change, hope, identity, passion, justice, anger, self-destruction and much more.

The soundtrack changes for every new area the player enters, the more you dive into it, the more you’ll fall in love with the music. It’s difficult to touch on the genre, but what I can say is that it feels like a modern fairy tale, magical, emotional, fun and ‘full’. It’s like an earful of fairy dust.

The soundtrack is accompanied by funny, yet emotional dialogue. All the characters have their own distinct personality and way of thinking, they feel like people rather than your typical NPC. The first visual was at the start screen.

The pixelated visuals tie everything in together, the character’s expressions, the light blowing of the palm trees, the colourful stars at night. the subtle sparkle of the snow and a beautiful ethereal glow from the sunrise.

The Gardener and the Wild Vines is a beautiful narrative-based platformer that everyone should play (Even if they don’t like narrative games).
