June’s Playstation Plus games have been teased early by a Spanish website, claiming God of War and two more to arrive in a matter of days.

Areajugones reportedly revealed the trio of games coming to the service as of June 7:

• God of War (2018)
• Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker
• Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl

Usually, the monthly PlayStation Plus free games are usually leaked by Deallabs member billbil-kun, however they stated they would not leak the game titles until May 31. Do note that the previous games FIFA 22, Curse of the Dead Gods, and Tribes of Midgard will all be available until June 7, when the new titles are released into the collection.

Seeking a Senior Gameplay Animator to work on the development of the prequel, the game has been billed as one of Ubisoft’s most ambitious games yet.

Updates on the game have been scarce, however never truly cancelled as proven by the recent opening for a Senior Animator in Ubisoft Barcelona to assist the project’s development. “Take ownership of the quality of the animations and functionality in one of the most ambitious Ubisoft projects to date,” the company stated last week on the Official Ubisoft Barcelona Twitter account, advertising the job opening.

The first teaser for Beyond Good and Evil 2 was a trailer released back all the way back in 2008, with over a decade of silence before its revival in the 2017 E3, where the publisher revealed the game will act as a prequel. The project was also presented by Ubisoft in a dedicated livestream in 2019, revealing another Ubisoft studio will be joining the first five working on the game. However Beyond never appeared in the year’s E3.

Alongside this, in August 2020 there was an announcement that Beyond will be recieving a feature film adaptation that was currently in the works at Netflix.

The post Beyond Good and Evil 2 is “one of Ubisoft’s most ambitious games yet” first appeared on Get2Gaming.

With the launch of Apex Legends Mobile, the game has received its fair share of praises and criticism. On the more positive aspect, the game replicates a minor, yet key aspect of the juggernaut of Call of Duty mobile; The single button approach.

It’s no secret that mobile games are much more fiddly than their console counterparts, with most, if not all, of the controls being onscreen. Most shooters on the mobile end up following a similar control scheme;

• Swiping the right half of the screen allows you to look around
• Swiping the left half allows you to move
• Pressing a button on each side allows the player to aim and shoot at enemies

Overall the concept has worked, with many like PUBG being a great example of it in practice. However with this other aspects are made much more awkward, like weapon changing and healing. This means the player would have to prioritise on one thing at a time, which is very difficult in a real-time shooter. Call of Duty created a small fix to this – merging the Aim and Shoot buttons into one. Apex also replicated this fix, helping its controls greatly and making the game so much easier and more fun. There’s one issue, however; the rest of the controls.

Apex Legends is a direct port to the console and PC variants, which means the controls are to be much more faithful to its existing features. This includes, but is not limited to, smaller niche movements like sliding or even Ultimate abilities, which don’t fit too well on a small touchscreen without cluttering. This can confuse players, having to remember what button does which thing, all in a fast-paced real time shooter.

This doesn’t necessarily make it a bad game. The game has may flaws, but also many aspects it shines in, making it one of the more fun mobile shooters out as of posting. It’d be a little better if the controls were better tailored to hours’ of gameplay by making it a little more understandable.

As well as the previously announced games for this month, Xbox has also announced another game arriving in its’ library.

Microsoft has one of the most successful services to be released in the recent years, with the Xbox Game Pass allowing many people to play a library of titles for a relatively miniscule price in comparison to buying each game on its own. As the service expands upon its library yet again this month with Little Witch in the Woods and Umurangi Generation Special Edition scheduled for May 17, and later on in the month introducing Hardspace: Shipbreaker and Sniper Elite 5, the official Xbox GamePass Twitter has announced the arrival of another surprising game along with the former four games – Jurassic World Evolution 2.

The appeal of the Game Pass has grown exponentially since its debut in 2017, originally not being as hyped up by the gaming community as much as it is today. Though a library isn’t all the service offers; it also offers cloud gaming and first-party Xbox titles being available on launch day. This has not gone unnoticed, as other companies such as Sony and Nintendo have also ramped up their investment into respective subscription services, most notably PlayStation.

Joseph Staten, Head of Creative for Halo Infinite, hints towards the possibility of the Halo series’ old maps returning to Infinite.

Having a rocky launch for multiple reasons, however even with such a rough beginning the community still wish for the game (and the franchise) to prevail. The series has been a core part of the fans’ memories, whether its from one Halo game or another. And Infinite’s Head of Creative, Joseph Staten, has hinted that the team may try to tap into that nostalgia.

Staten, who participated in the Kinda Funny Xcast recently, was asked by the host Parris Lilly as to why 343 was not mixing more classic content from the series with new updates for Infinite. The team weren’t expecting a response to this question, but Staten surprisingly stated that he thinks “there are a lot of maps that are awesome” in the older games, and it would be “awesome to play on those maps again.” There are no guarantees as to whether or not this will be acted upon by bringing back old maps, however he does jokingly state that bringing back classic maps would be a “fun thing” and would mark such a possibility in his notebook.

This statement should come with a grain of salt, as Staten isn’t making an official announcement in this podcast. However, this doesn’t make the possibility impossible; The casual response instead of shutting the conversation about the idea seems to add to the possibility that this can indeed happen. It is not a guarantee, and as such all the information given at this podcast should be treated with a grain of salt to not heighten expectations too much incase of any fans dissappointment if it does not happen.

Alongside PS Plus’ line of games coming this month, Playstation Now’s lineup of games have also been revealed and will be readily available on May 3.

Coming this month to the service will be , Soulcalibur VI and Blasphemous as well as Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4, alongside the month’s Playstation Plus Games: FIFA 22, Tribes of Midgard and Curse of the Dead Gods.

Last month the service welcomed Outer Wilds, Journey to the Savage Planet, WRC 10 FIA World Rally Championship, and  Werewolf The Apocalypse – Earthblood.

Last month, Sony announced an expansion would be arriving to the PS Plus service, structured around three tiers. The tier system (Essentials, Extra, and Premium, respectively) will combine both the PS Plus and PS Now offerings, and will cost the same amount as PS Plus: £6.99 for a month, £19.99 for three months or £49.99 for a year of the service.

On top of the former, Extra will include a library of 400 PS4 and PS5 games, costing £10.99 a month, £31.99 for three months or £83.99 a year.

Additionally, the Premium includes all the benefits of the above, as well as 350 additional games including PS3 titles through cloud streaming, as well as a library of classic games with both streaming and download options from the PS1, PS2 and PSP generations. This will cost £13.49 for a month, £39.99 for three months or £99.99 a year.

The post May’s PS Now Games have been revealed first appeared on Get2Gaming.

The movie starring the iconic character has been delayed to spring 2023, rather than winter 2022.

The news came from a message written on the Nintendo of America Twitter account written by Shigeru Miyamoto, the co-producer of the film. The message reads: “This is Miyamoto. After consulting with Chris[Meledandri]-san, my partner at Illumination on the Super Mario Bros film, we decided to move the global release to Spring 2023 – April 28 in Japan and April 7 in North America.” Miyamoto also added; “We are collaborating with Chris and his experienced team to not just create a character licensed film, but a new piece of entertainment which brings Super Mario Bros. to life on the screen, and allows everyone to enjoy whether or not they know about the game.

Originally set to release on December 21st in North America, the film is now set to a four month delay. however Miyamoto has sent his “deepest apologies,” but promises the outcome will be “well worth the wait.”

As well as Miyamoto, Meledandri has also created a statement regarding the delay: “Mario and Luigi are two of the most beloved heroes in all of popular culture, and we are honoured to have the unique opportunity to work closely with Shigeru Miyamoto and the widely imaginative team at Nintendo to bring these characters to life in an animated movie unlike any film Illumination has made to date. The production so far is constructive and going very well, and both parties are learning a lot from each other. We humbly ask that fans wait just a little longer for the premiere, and we hope they look forward to seeing the unique characters from Super Mario Bros. on the big screen.”

According to new employee Garrett Fredley, Playstation has set up a new game preservation team.

Previously a build engineer for mobile developer Kabam, Garrett Fredley has recently joined the Playstation as a senior build engineer: In celebration, Fredley posted on his Twitter and LinkedIn pages excited to be joining the preservation team. “Today is my first day as a senior build engineer for PlayStation, working as one of their initial hires for the newly created Preservation team,” they stated.

“Game preservation was my first career passion. It was my first foray into the world of software engineering / dev ops, and into a world that so many are unaware of. I was just a novice back then, contributing any way I could regardless of my inexperience. Now, I’m back to it, no longer the novice I once was. Thank you Mike Bishop and the team for bringing me on board for this adventure, let’s go and ensure our industry’s history isn’t forgotten.”

Having worked with EA for 4 years (2016 – 2019), and had “solely led the preservation efforts for the FIFA franchise, resulting in the complete archival of multiple titles”.

It’s not entirely clear what this new role will be for, or the aims of the team, but as of last month Sony announced to be bringing classic games to the PS5 through the PS Plus Premium subscription, and as of when it launches for £13.49 per month, subscribers will gain access to 340 games from Playstation 1,2,3, and PSP consoles. However, these games will only be made playable via cloud streaming, so keep that in mind.

Mark May 11 on your calendars – The long-rumoured crossover starring Godzilla and King Kong are set to arrive on Call of Duty: Warzone.

Crossovers have been growing increasingly more popular within the gaming industry. Many games such as Fortnite have had many crossovers implemented as seasons or battle passes. And now, Activision Blizzard have confirmed a long-circulating rumour diving into this concept; bringing Godzilla and King Kong to the battlefield on May 11.

Named Operation Monarch, nothing is clear about how these gigantic creatures will be implemented however a blog post on the official site seems to depict a raid-like system, introducing “a new game mode for Quads based on several classic experiences with a titan-sized twist.”

The Call of Duty series has not quite been known as a realistic style of shooter, despite the militaristic settings the games stage in. However the movie starring both monsters has long gone in terms of relevance, coming out over a year ago; which makes this seem like a very odd crossover.

Skate 4 will reportedly implement an online addition to allow its users to build and hang out together in free skate mode.

Skate 4’s pre-alpha footage has been leaked on Wednesday with the playtesting being held on that week. VentureBeat reporter, Jeff Grubb, also discussed the mode on the Thursday during his premium Giant Bomb show Grubbsnax.

“I’ve heard from the people who have played it that it is very fun,” they stated, and “people seem to be very impressed with the way it feels, that is the big takeaway.” Grubb also states that EA’s approach is to modernise the series, without taking away the aspects fans loved from the last three titles which were last released in 2010. They’ve also stated that “They are going to be taking some modern stuff, specifically the kind of stuff you might see in a Forza game or a lot of modern online multiplayer games, where you’re going to have a lot of customisation options for your character, a lot of skins, skins for your board, things like that.”

“And there’s going to be a lot of user generated content, where you can wrap up your board with some crazy stuff that the community has made – they’re going to really emphasise that stuff. And where that stuff should shine is the other side of this, which is sort of this collaborative online free skate mode that does sound very good.” He continues.

• “This is a mode where you are hanging out with your friends or anyone else who is going to hop onto the server, and then anyone on the server can say, ‘hey, does anyone want to try and lay down some tricks with me over here on this thing?’
• “And then someone can lay down the skate park stuff required to do that in real time with everyone else right there and just say, ‘here’s the ramp we need to make this happen, there it is, now everyone start doing this.’
• “And people can work together to make these parks all at the same time. You can add stuff, delete stuff on the fly, and the people that have played this mode said this was kind of the standout where it was just really fun to do that with friends and with other people.
