Netflix have dominated the streaming service sphere for quite some time now. However, it now looks like they’re stepping up their gaming service too. In November 2021, Netflix’s games became released globally on both Android and iOS.

Fans of the hit TV Show “Stranger Things” were glad to see a few games which involved the series, as well as a few more less notable gaming titles. This news looks like their line up is increasing. It should perhaps entice further users to get involved with infamous company. But what exactly are these new games we’re going to be playing in the coming weeks? Great question.

Firstly, let’s take a look at the game called Dominos Cafe. The name is pretty self-explanatory, as the game sees you play dominoes with a variety of realistic challenges in one-on-one or two-on-two contests. Does that sound like something you could get involved in? It seems so far Netflix’s game have been fairly simplistic, and they don’t look to change that strategy as of yet.

Secondly, is a title called Knittens which is match-3 game. For those unfamiliar with the term, a match 3 game is a type of puzzle game where the player manipulates tiles in order to make them disappear according to a matching criterion. Examples of this include the likes of Candy Crush and Jewel Quest. However, there seems to be a twist where you dress up as your kitten when you reach your objective. Great for all your cat lovers out there we suppose.

Finally, we reach the likes of a mini-golf game called Wonderputt. Once again, its a pretty straight forward ordeal, where you have to plan your shots and the sink the ball into unique hole.

Netflix Looking to Release Even More Games In The Future

In addition to all this good news, the company also let us know that a further two games will be released soon. This’ll include a title called Hextech Mayhem. Now that sounds quite interesting. It’s a rhythm game in which you bounce to the beat of the music to avoid obstacles. First we’ve got a game for Stranger things lovers, then cat lovers and now music lovers. They should really find a way to combine all three to be honest!

Next up is a game called Arcanium: Rise of Akhan which will be an open-world-single-player card strategy game. We’ll have to keep our eyes out for the both of these and their development. They would sure be great additions to the current line up, which now involves 10 titles, including Bowling Ballers, Shooting Hoops, Teeter Up, Asphalt Xtreme, Stranger Things 1984, Stranger Things 3 and Card Blast.

How do you access these titles, we hear you ask? It’s quite simple really. On Android, you just need to tap on the new Games tab in the Netflix app. This’ll then take you to the Google Play Store to install the game. Once downloaded, they are available to play whenever you feel like on the Netflix app. Similarly, iOS users will be taken to the Apple App store instead, of course.

So there we have it, why not get downloading right away! Additionally, why not look at which streaming service is making a TV Show out of a beloved gaming franchise. After that, head on over to our store and check out the more complicated titles on offer!

Since Netflix has started to shift into the gaming industry, there has been some mixed feelings about it. However, in collaboration with games like Cuphead and making a TV series based around it, we can have some faith that they know what they’re doing. Recently they’ve added to their library of free games Asphalt Xtreme and Bowling Ballers. These games are free for anyone to download, as long as they have a Netflix subscription. There is already a small library of games including; Stranger Things 3: The Game, Stranger Things: 1984, Card Blast, Teeter Up and Shooting Hoops.

But What Is Asphalt Xtreme and Bowling Ballers?

Asphalt Xtreme is an action racing video game developed in 2016 by Gameloft, the game continues to carry its classic, traditional feel and remains nostalgic to its fans. Asphalt Xtreme has a good amount of worldwide race tracks and a range of cars to choose from and obtain over time. It doesn’t stray from what the classic arcade racing game should continue to be.

Bowling Ballers is an adorable, endless-runner bowling game, developed by Netflix themselves. This specific game is only available with a Netflix subscription. With the ‘Kawaii’ (cute) aspect to it, they are sure to draw in a young audience. Rather than avoiding obstacles, the players are encouraged to knock items over, which is logical as they are controlling a bowling ball. “Mechanics include skateboarding, flying and more, all with simple, intuitive gameplay.”. As mentioned in the game description, this does seem very unique and has features that many other endless runners do not have. It also seems as though the course changes and becomes increasingly difficult over time, the layout and presentation don’t stay the same.

What will Netflix Have Planned For The Future?

So far it seems as though Netflix is trying to shoot for a broad audience, but by how the popularity of Bowling Ballers is going, they may choose to continue and make games that will appeal to young children and families.

Last week, Netflix made its new game selection available to all subscribers with access to an Android platform. Starting today at 6pm GMT, iPhone / iPad users will be able to join in on the action as well.

In the Netflix app, you will see a dedicated row for games, from which you can choose what you want to download. The iPad app will allow you to select the games category from a dropdown menu, too.

Thanks to Apple‘s policies in regards to the App Store, the process will work slightly differently from its Android counterpart. The main Netflix app will still provide access to the games library, but the games will launch as a separate app.

Once the app opens, you’ll have to authenticate your Netflix account. Then you’re all set to game!

The games coming to iOS are the same ones that launched on Android, including Shooting Hoops, Teeter Up and Card Blast. Additionally, there are two Stranger Things titles: Stranger Things 1984 and Stranger Things 3.

The next game heading to the platform will supposedly be a League of Legends rhythm game called ‘Hextech Mayhem’. It will launch on November 16th for Nintendo Switch and PC, and should join Netflix at a later date.

Though the new service’s catalogue is very small at the moment, it’s available to Netflix subscribers at no additional cost (and who doesn’t have Netflix in this day and age? Even if you’re squatting on a friend’s account).

Xbox Cloud Gaming, Nvidia GeForce Now, and Google Stadia have also tried (and currently failed) to appeal to Apple, but as of yet, the only way way these services have gotten to work is via Cloud-based gaming services, like how Facebook (possibly soon to be Meta) has a bunch of accessible mini-games of varying quality you can play with friends on Messenger. I like Words with Friends and the basketball hoopy-shooty-woosh-dunkery one.

Gurman has gone on to state that despite Netflix’s games being playable via the in-app login, it can’t be downloaded from the app itself. You’ll have to get it from the app store first, then log into Netflix. For Android games, Netflix’s gaming system functions this way for the Google Play Store.

“Apple will need to change its rules or grant Netflix an exemption” […] “That leaves the ultimate success of Netflix’s service in the hands of Apple, a longtime partner but also a growing rival.” – Mark Gurman

The Funtime Netflix Recommendation Hole: Because I’ve heard many a sad tale from friends of mine complaining they ran out of stuff to watch on Netflix, so here’s some recommendations for anyone using Netflix UK, or anyone who’s international and uses Nord VPN or the like.

White Tiger (Netflix Original): A shrewd young man from a poor family uses his wit and intellect to rise to incredible wealth. A darkly funny and emotionally raw exploration of class struggles and inequalities. Think Wolf of Wallstreet but double the wolf (or tiger rather) and half the Wallstreet.

Inside Job (Netflix Original): What if every single majorly insane conspiracy theory (besides the Flat-Earther’s) was real and kept under wraps by a corrupt government? Boom! Quirky adult sitcom fun times written and produced by Gravity Falls creators Shion Takeuchi and Alex Hirsch! I especially liked the episode parodying James Bond that also acted as a critique of toxic masculinity and incel culture. For a breakdown on the Incel crowd, have a butcher’s at the video by Contrapoints on the topic.

Om Shanti Om: My very first Bollywood experience and a welcomed one! You know how a lot of JoJo fans (myself occasionally included) point to all the weird wacky plot points without context in a non-sequitur jokey way which leads to a “you gotta see it to believe it” method of encouragement? Om Shanti is basically THAT for Bollywood, so I won’t go too in-depth on the plot, but I will say it is a hilarious and beautiful watch alone or with friends. Overcome the one-inch-high barrier that is subtitles and you’re in for a world of fun.

Netflix has announced it will start rolling out its gaming service globally from today

The time has officially come for Netflix to launch its gaming service, Netflix Games, worldwide!

After months of the first unexpected, yet highly-intriguing announcement, Netflix is officially rolling out the gaming service for Android users from today and will give subscribers something to enjoy out of the selection of games already available on offer.

Netflix Games

Netflix Games was first announced back in July when it was still in the “early stages” and also stated it would be focusing its games on mobile devices. It then became more established in August when it announced its first video games, Stranger Things: 1984 and Stranger Things 3, for exclusive testing in Poland only.

The video streaming company then added three more games to test on a wider scale, Shooting Hoops, Teeter (Up), and Card Blast, in September, and it is these five games that are now available to play on a global scale.

Netflix Games is currently on Android only and is available to current subscribers at no extra cost. Netflix has also stated all the games will be free of ads, additional costs, and in-app purchases.

All titles can be found under the Games tab in Netflix’s mobile app for Android, but must first be downloaded via the Google Play Store.

iOS users can expect the Games tab soon, and Netflix promises more games are on the way. The company has already acquired its first developer, Night School Studio, so we can certainly expect a lot of great games along the way.

What kind of games do you want to see being published by Netflix? Would you want the streaming service to offer a multiverse of its shows in mobile games format, or try something completely different? Let us know in the comment section!

Tomorrow, Netflix Games will start rolling out on the Netflix mobile app. First on Android, with iOS on the way.

It’s early days, but we’re excited to start bringing you exclusive games, with no ads, no additional fees and no in-app purchases. pic.twitter.com/ofNGF4b8At
