Gameplay for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League dropped at the 2021 Game Awards. We got a glimpse at gameplay for all four playable characters: King Shark, Harley Quinn, Captain Boomerang, and Deadshot. The teaser begins with the Suicide Squad insulting the Flash by referring to him as the Justice League’s mascot, before cutting to a gameplay montage filled with intense combat. Here’s a look at the trailer:

What to Expect in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League

The conflict took place in the heart of the city, and it included the kind of chaotic combat you’d expect from the Suicide Squad. We witnessed footage of King Shark climbing buildings, engaging in lightning fast physical combat with his fists, and, quite gruesomely, biting off an enemies head.

Harley Quinn swung in the air with what appeared to be a grapple, then she swung her baseball bat from the ground to take out enemies. We saw some third-person shooter action in Deadshot. From the looks of what we saw, every character has a good mix of ranged and close-combat options. The game looks more like a third-person shooter than it does a superhero – well villain, in this case – game, but maybe it will feel different in the whole game.

Suicide Squad was first announced in 2020. It will be Rocksteady’s first game after the Batman Arkham series, and is set in the same universe. Up to four players will be able to control the game’s antiheroes.

No specific release date has been given at this time for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, but the game is expected to release in 2022 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Not feeling villanious enough to get on board with the Suicide Squad? Take on the role of a hero instead! Try out Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales or Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy!

Who’s ready to get killing the Justice League? Never thought I’d say that, but there we are. Rocksteady have just revealed a trailer for their upcoming adventure game Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League and we’ve finally received some game play. It’s about time!

Once again, it was The Game Awards which treated us with a plethora of trailers to delve into. It never disappoints. In this preview, we get a more up close look at the four playable characters: King Shark, Harley Quinn, Captain Boomerang and Deadshot. It starts with Captain Boomerang comically taunting the Flash, then simply breaks out into a free-for-all action montage, things we just love to see.

Let’s not spoil the whole experience for you, have a quick look at the trailer yourself down below:

Rocksteady Confirm Suicide Squad Is Set In Arkhamverse

What’d we all think of that then? Personally, I can’t wait to see what Rockstar have in store for us. It looks like its going to be a great mixture of brash banter and fast-paced action sequences. Interestingly, it is quite difficult to believe that this is set in the same universe as the Arkham games. The stark contrast in mood and atmosphere will be an interesting path for Rockstar, a test they certainly hope they’ll live up to.

“The game is a hybrid of Rocksteady’s experience in bringing characters like Batman to life combined with really powerful, awesome gunplay,” creative director Sefton Hill told DC FanDome attendees after Suicide Squad’s reveal in August 2020. “Each [character] has a richer move set, more things you can do, and more skill required to master them than you even had with Batman. It’s really about creating a whole spectrum of possibilities for the player to use.”

The London-based developer definitely have our interests peaked. Whilst the open world of the gritty Gotham in Arkham Knight was fantastic, it’ll be nice to have a change and explore the sunnier Metropolis.

So what do you think about the upcoming Suicide Squad game? Reckon it’ll be as hilarious as the James Gunn film? Or a complete flop like the 2016 movie? We’ll be interested to hear your thoughts in the comments below.

In the meantime, what better excuse are you going to get to replay some of the best games ever? Pick up the Rocksteady’s complete Arkham trilogy right here! You won’t regret getting this, believe me.

Before we get into the news, STORY TIME! I found out about this news from another journalist and his thumbnail included a perfectly harmless U-Rated innocent poster featuring all the Justice League heroes.

I didn’t know it was entirely family-friendly at first though, because on first glance, Superman looked like he… Well… I’ll try not to put any ideas in your head, but TELL ME THAT DOESN’T LOOK LIKE A… You know… A dinglehopper, as Ariel might say! A steak and two-Tackleberries! That thing that shares a name with the popular Blaxploitation-era crime film originally starring Richard Rountree in 1971! Or as Ben Shapiro would probably say, “the private D-word who’s a sex-machine to all the c-words”.

I was probably sub-consciously remembering this handy-dandy little Fact Fiend video on the topic, so take that how you will!

Back to the news! Dreams is a game designed by folks at Media Molecule (the makers of Little Big Planet) where players can make their own games and play the games of others. For any Avatar The Last Airbender fans reading, turns out gameplay for a Dreams-made Avatar game has released, that’s neat!

Besides rumors of a potential Superman game being in the works, Warner Bros hasn’t confirmed any plans for a AAA game in the same ballpark of production as say, the Marvel’s Avengers or Guardians of the Galaxy games (psst, which we have!).

So in this mini DC Superhero gaming drought, Redditteer u/TheRedProphett rolled up their sleeves one day and said “fine, I’ll do it myself” before sharing a video of his Justice League game project. You can view the video of the incomplete game footage here. While the environment and enemies are simple placeholder templates, giving Superman, Batman and Wonderwoman unique move-sets and stable physics for capes and clothes are extremely impressive for any lone game developer.

Rocksteady Games has, in the meantime, announced plans for the game Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League, which will allegedly feature the classic superhero team as the antagonists to Harley Quinn’s Suicide Squad. In my headcanon, this move was inspired by one of the CEOs or developers seeing their kid play LEGO DC Super Villains one day via PS+ and thinking “oh damn, that would be a cool hook”!

Almost days before it’s release, Warner Bros. have decided to cancel the Collector’s Edition for Batman: Arkham Knight, which was due to come out with a transformable Batmobile. The company have shed light on the matter, saying that there have been quality issues with this particular bundle which has led to them having to scrap it altogether.

The rest of the Batmobile Edition Bundle included the action-adventure game with an 80-page art book, steel book case, limited edition DC comic, three New 52 skins and the transformable Batmobile (and so begin the sighs). Fear not though! Warner Bros., as an apology, are offering the New 52 skin pack, which includes the Caped Crusader, Robin and Nightwing, to anyone who pre-ordered the Batman: Arkham Knight Batmobile Edition – for FREE! The bundle was initially priced at £170.

Writer Marv Wolfman is working on an official novelization of the upcoming game

Wolfman announced, via Facebook, that he’s venturing on a new project which is an official novelization of Rocksteady’s upcoming game, ‘Batman: Arkham Knight’, which is to be released later this year.

The veteran comic book writer also added that he’s relieved to finally be able to talk about the project, which he kept a secret even from his dog…

“Well, I can finally tell folk what I’ve been working on these past months in total secrecy, even from my dog,” Wolfman has said. “I wrote the official novelization for Arkham Knight, based on the upcoming video game, and had a ball doing it.” “The story is highly emotional and I’m exceedingly happy with the results,” he added. “Both game and book come out in July. I’ll post the cover here once it’s official. Anyway, whew, it feels great finally being able to talk about it. My dog is happy, too. I no longer have to keep throwing her out of my office while I’m working.”

Looking at this above, you might have noticed that Wolfman mentioned the game being released in July this year, when it has been confirmed to be released in June. The game has not been delayed and is still scheduled for release in June this year, which has been confirmed by Warner Bros.

Wolfman didn’t provide any further details about his Arkham Knight novelization. The game takes place after the events of Arkham City, and tells the story of Batman facing off against Scarecrow and a mysterious enemy named the Arkham Knight.

If you’re an avid Batman fan (and not forgetting Scarecrow, of course!) then watch this space!

Batman: Arkham Knight
The reason as to why the game will not have co-op…

According to developer Rocksteady Studios, the 2015 game Batman: Arkham Knight will not have co-op, but there is good reason for this. Fundamental to making the game the “ultimate Batman simulator” is putting the player–just one player–into the boots of the Dark Knight himself, the studio says.

The game will launch in June next year and will be available to play on the PS4, Xbox One and PC. Also recently confirmed by Rocksteady is the news that Arkham Knight is aiming for graphical parity across all platforms but, due to the game being around six months away from launch, a specific frame rate and resolution have not been finalised.

“We’re making a Batman game,” a Rocksteady representative said during a recent live-stream for the game. “For us, that means getting the player to be the Batman. It’s a single-player experience where you get to pick up the controller and wear the cowl and be that guy. So there won’t be any co-op.”

In all fairness, who WOULDN’T want to become the Batman in all his winged glory?!
