Rayark Inc’s Deemo II Could Be Released This December 2021 and Perhaps Nintendo Switch News In The Future

Potentially, looking in the direction Rayark is heading and all the subtle hints they’ve been dropping, we may see Deemo II release pretty soon for Android and IOS. So, what are the hints Rayark has been dropping?

Rayark has been working on Deemo II since it was announced in 2019 and have left their fans with a couple teaser trailers released mid-2020 and early 2021, then a website to go off up until now. The teaser trailers hadn’t revealed much and as an audience, fans could only guess the plot and a little of what the gameplay would be like. However, now all of that has changed since their most recent Tweets and their previous, yet most recent trailer.

Rayark’s Deemo II News

Little by little, Rayark has been revealing more and more about Deemo II on their Twitter feed, all while celebrating their 10th Anniversary. They’ve introduced new characters, their occupations and they even announced a game update for Deemo II, despite the fact it hasn’t been released yet.

Character Introductions

Deemo has briefly mentioned a few characters that will be joining, including the music teacher and the craftsman. There are also mysterious masked people who chase after the main character, Echo as seen in the trailer.

Deemo vs Deemo II, The Differences in Gameplay & Nintendo Switch/PlayStation

Deemo II Trailer and Gameplay

Potentially we could get a Nintendo Switch version in 2022. Deemo II carries a lot of potential for the Nintendo Switch, just by the appearance, puzzle aspects, piano mechanic and exploration, it’s feels as though it’s made for a Handheld device other than a mobile phone. Considering the gameplay style, this would work great on a PlayStation or even PC.

This wouldn’t be the first time Rayark has released a Nintendo Switch Game, especially for Deemo. They’ve got two version of Deemo. The original ‘Deemo’ and ‘Deemo: Reborn’ both available on the Nintendo Switch, plus Deemo: Reborn available for PlayStation.

It wouldn’t be unrealistic for Rayark to release Deemo II on console as they’ve added a number of new mechanics to the game for those who aren’t the biggest fan of Rhythm games or perhaps Rhythm isn’t their strongest points.

Gameplay Differences Between Deemo & Deemo II

The gameplay looks magnificent and resembled an oil painting, mixed with an anime and 3D-game feel to it. They made it seem as though we are watching a movie. The first original game, Deemo  was launched in 2013 and had over 25 million downloads in more than 100 countries and their moment. The original Deemo followed a musical narrative between a young girl and a mysterious third dimensional being named Deemo, the majority of the narrative is pushed by music. Rayark tested the waters with another Deemo game called Deemo: Reborn, which was essentially the same game as Deemo, with 3D elements and the option to walk around and explore the area. This version had disappointed quite a few fans that had high expectations for the game, they missed the 2D elements the original had given them.

Rayark took all of this into consideration, in Deemo II and mixed the two elements. Ming-Yang Yu Producer of Deemo and Deemo II mentioned that “Deemo II’s rhythm section will be far more dynamic with many tempo and camera changes.” Which is a different experience to the original Deemo, the tempo changes were subtle had image change and based on the difficulty chosen, however, Ming-Yang mentioned “these changes will help broaden gameplay difficulty levels” which means that those tempo changes will be a surprise to the player and aim add a little more challenge to their gameplay.

Ming-Yang also spoke about gameplay for those who don’t just want a musical aspect all throughout the game and added 2D and 3D elements through exploration and explained that they’ve “created memorable exploration and narrative sections. In Deemo II, you can play as Echo, the main character, and explore the train station.” In this section the player will be able to interact with NPC’s, solving puzzles and helping them with their problems, all while uncovering Deemo’s secrets.

2. Nier Replicant

Nier Replicant is an emotional JRPG set in the year 3465 and is about a young boy who’s on a quest to save his sister from a disease known as the ‘black scrawl’ and is on the search for the ‘sealed verses’ while uncovering all the secrets that lie behind it.

The soundtrack in NieR Replicant is godsent, it’s just as beautiful as NieR: Automata’s soundtrack and completely captures every little emotion from the characters to the supporting characters, the viewers, the dialogue and even the environment. Everyone is a witness and through the music, NieR Replicant makes everyone a part of guilt, happiness, loss and love, including the player.

5 Games that literally Scream Studio Ghibli

We all crave a little adventure in our gameplay and while there are many games that carry emotional weight, it can be hard to find an adventure game that has that Studio Ghibli vibe to it. So I have created a list of 5 games I’ve played, love and recommend, each one with a  good reason as to why they fit the ‘Studio Ghibli vibe’ category.

1. Ni No Kuni Wrath of The White Witch

This has to be on the list, everyone should be aware of this game by now. The same animators, composers and illustrators that are behind most Studio Ghibli films, were part of this fantastic franchise. It’s not just that, but the growth of friendship, love, self-belief and self-discipline all comes through in its plot. The gameplay is simple, but it’s made that way so everyone and anyone can play through Ni No Kuni without being too confused. It works really well, the voice acting, the story, the characters, the dialogue makes it all worthwhile. Not to mention the soundtrack is incredible, if you’re looking to play a game that feels 100% like a Studio Ghibli film, Ni No Kuni: Wrath of The White Witch is the one for you.

If I’m being completely honest, when I first saw the trailer…I wasn’t very impressed, I felt like I wouldn’t enjoy Ni No Kuni. I waited until the Ni No Kuni: Wrath of The White Witch had a discount offer before I bought it. One of the DUMBEST decisions I’ve ever made. From the moment I knew that Ni No Kuni existed, I should have bought it instantly and at FULL PRICE. I was mad that I ever doubted the Ni No Kuni franchise and wished I could rewind time to slap myself in the face and tell myself to buy it.

Join Oliver as he embarks on an adventure through a world inhabited by new friends and ferocious foes alike in the hopes of bringing back his mother after a tragic incident. 2. Ni No Kuni 2 Revenant Kingdom

Ni No Kuni 2 Revenant Kingdom is just as fantastic as the first. While it is considered a sequel to the first game and have a few things referencing characters and plot from the first game, it has a completely different plot and a new story. It’s everything you expect from a Studio Ghibli film and is jam-packed with memorable characters, a wonderful plot, beautiful soundtracks, fantasy elements and a great combat system.  It’s everything the first game was, but better.

3. Ori and The Blind Forest

Ori and The Blind Forest is more than just an aesthetic 2D Platformer. Without revealing too much, Ori and the blind forest is a story that follows a guardian spirit, aiming to restore life into the forest. As many of us know, Studio Ghibli films concentrate a lot on magic and the environment.

While the appearance isn’t anime-like, the plot is just as heart-warming. The soundtrack is orchestral and suits each scene very well, the visuals are without a doubt the games strongest asset, but the mechanics are what makes this game amazing, they help enhance the experience. Puzzles, combat and gaining certain abilities help you to progress in the game as it would with any adventure game, however, we get to see the impact it has on the main character and also how it affects our gameplay. Such as the main character almost grovelling throughout the forest.

It’s a great game for anyone who is looking for a relaxing, yet emotional adventure game.

Ori and The Blind Forest (Nintendo Switch)

4. Paper Mario: The Origami King

DON’T CLICK AWAY. Let me explain first. I understand that there are many Paper Mario fans who are not so impressed because of the fact that this Paper Mario game isn’t the same as the traditional ones, I also understand that Mario himself may not seem like a very Studio Ghibli character AT ALL, but…Paper Mario The Origami King, gives off those Studio Ghibli vibes, and here’s why.

The characterisation and dialogue is amazing, the development of every character is well done, the emotional plot twists tied in with the constant exploration and meeting new characters, you don’t expect to cry during this playthrough, but boy does the emotion hit you like a train. The combat system might not be the same as The Thousand Year Door, but it was enjoyable. Not to mention, it’s a long game, you can easily have over 40 hours playing, especially if you aim to get 100%.  Did I mention this is also has a great soundtrack?

Paper Mario and the Origami King

5. Wandersong

This is at the top of my list, surprisingly…almost above Ni No Kuni, while it does not LOOK like anime, the story, dialogue, characters and the emotional journey it takes you on is what makes me give this game a 20/10. It is without a doubt one of the best games I’ve played. Wandersong is a beautiful game that follows the story of a simple Bard. He is a singer who encounters a messenger of a goddess called Eya in a dream. She tells the Bard it’s the end of the world, but with the power of his voice, he can save it with ‘The Earth Song’ and now must collect all the pieces by travelling around the world.

The soundtrack is perfect, the mechanics are perfect, the controls? Perfect. The characters? Perfect. Have I played the game over 3 times in a row? YES, I HAVE. It’s fantastic and everyone should give it a try, the entire game is filled with life. JUST PLAY IT.

Is Kena: Bridge of Spirits Worth it?

Kena: Bridge of Spirits is an action-adventure game developed by Ember Labs and was first announced at PlayStation’s Future of Gaming event in June of 2020. Kena: Bridge of Spirits definitely fits the category of ‘next-gen’ gaming and is one hundred per cent worth the money. As mentioned before, it’s like Studio Ghibli and Avatar The Last Airbender has a kid. There are many other comparisons we can make, you could compare it to Breath of The Wild, but I refuse to believe any game that has greenery and the slightly open-world map is considered to be like Breath of The Wild. Though we can’t deny that this game has its own feel to it, to the point I wish it was my first time playing again. If you’d like to know what Kena: Bridge of Sprits is all about click here.

Kena: Bridge of Spirits – Graphics & Visuals

The visuals, animation style and graphics are exactly what brings this game to life, they make you feel as if you’re travelling through a mythical forest. Despite it being animation, the small details with tree movement, lighting, the way your character affects the environment all plays into how realistic it feels. Rather than feel like you’re playing through an action-adventure game, you feel like you’re INSIDE one. The gameplay feels like a cutscene, almost like you’re inside a film of some kind, it has a similar feel to God of War. Despite the two being very different games, they both feel like you’re part of a film. It’s truly that immersive.

Kena: Bridge of Spirits Gameplay

Okay, graphics and visuals are good, but what about the gameplay? The gameplay delivers rather well, despite the game being a semi-open world, the story is linear and there isn’t much progress that can be made unless the player follows the path that the game set out. Even with a linear path, the gameplay proves to be amazing with small puzzles to complete, vast exploration and some challenges that come up ahead.

The combat is pretty fast-paced, the enemies don’t seem to be moving quickly while watching the screen, that is…until they attack. The attacks and reflexes are pretty fast, enough to catch the player off guard. Some attacks don’t work and the same goes for defending, it’s difficult to know at times which enemies have the ability to bypass your shield or remain unaffected by a particular attack. This can be said for Hard mode. This makes the game more enjoyable, having some unexpected techniques during combat, which is realistic.

One improvement can be made to Kena: Bridge of Spirits…adding side-quests. Some players enjoy side-quests and others don’t, but it would have been a nice addition to make the game longer than it is. It’s easily doable to complete the game in less than 7 hours, which would essentially mean this game would only last most players a week or so or less than a week if they play two hours a day.  I find that side-quests often help me understand the world a little more than what’s given to us on a plate and let me interact with inhabitants of the world more than I would.

Kena: Bridge of Spirits – Soundtracks

The soundtracks are everything, beautifully composed and really helps to build suspense and absorb the atmosphere. Whether it’s during a cutscene or gameplay, the music ties in with the ambience well. The soundtracks are those types that make you want different versions of the same thing, a Youtube compilation of them all…in lo-fi, remix, epic remix, slow and reverb…one extended version that goes on for 100 HOURS. It’s that good, in fact, the soundtracks are already published on Youtube for players to listen to and is also available to purchase.

Overall

Kena: Bridge of Sprits is an amazing game, definitely worth the £33 pounds I spent on it and has quite a good amount of content for the cheap price. 9/10. It feels nostalgic without being a game from the past, Kena Bridge of Spirits has that next-gen gaming look to it, while partially feeling like an open-world PlayStation 2 game, beautiful soundtracks and outstanding visuals, puzzles and a challenge, which is all I ever need in a game.

Kena: Bridge of Spirits released on the PS4 & PS5 in Less than 7 hours

We have less than a working day until this game releases and it would be a lie to say a lot of us aren’t excited, especially those who are fans of anime and Studio Ghibli films or Avatar The Last Airbender, I mean…come on. You can’t tell me this doesn’t remind you of Princess Mononoke, My neighbour Totoro or Spirited Away and the meditation and spiritual aspect, along with the insane combat resembles The Avatar. I even go as far as to say this slightly resembles games like Ni No Kuni II: Wrath of The White Witch, even though it’s a little more childish than Kena: Bridge of Spirits, I have to throw it in. There are a lot more I could throw in as well, like Ori and The Blind Forest. There’s too many to list at once, regardless this is definitely a buy as soon as it’s out game for me.

Kena: Bridge of Spirits is a narrative action-adventure game developed by Ember Lab. The story follows a young Spirit Guide named Kena who’s searching for ‘The Sacred Mountain Shrine’ she ends up in an abandoned village, deep in the forest and tries to uncover the truth behind the lost community and the trapped spirits. The gameplay also includes ‘finding the rot’ which will allow the player to get some really cool powers after transforming the environment. The combat is fast-paced and immersive enough to make me feel as though I’m part of an action film.

Just between you and me, I watched the trailer for Kena: Bridge of Spirits on the PlayStation Store, I kid you not…I moved my analogue stick while watching the gameplay trailer and almost forgot it was not the actual game. If that isn’t enough proof of how good this looks, I don’t know what is.

Behind The Frame: The Finest Scenery, A game That Plays Out like An Anime Film

‘Behind The Frame: The Finest Scenery was developed by Silver Lining Studio,  released on the 25th August, and it just screams Studio Ghibli. This game follows the story of an aspiring artist trying to pursue her dream, it is a click and drag type puzzle game that’s supposed to make the player feel like they are watching an anime film unfold. It is intended for that purpose, I feel as though watching the game through as if it’s a film is perfect for those who are looking for a story, as opposed to an exchange where you must complete mountains of objectives to get through the story. It’s a cosy game that allows players to unwind, relax with simple puzzles and simply have an overwhelming experience with cinematic gameplay.

The game releases on Steam, Ios & Android. The perfect platform for a cinematic game such as this. While a Nintendo Switch or PlayStation release would be nice, this game includes a lot of clicking and dragging, which will mostly be suited for players that use a PC or mobile phone. Many could use the touch screen on a Nintendo Switch or touchpad on a PlayStation controller, however, the experience won’t be quite the same, as the mechanics may be a little difficult for players used to buttons and analogue sticks to wrap their head around the unique gameplay type.

Some console players turn their heads on Mobile games, but I think it’s a wonderful choice, especially for anime lovers who enjoy watching a good anime, wrapped in their blankets at home and laying comfortably in bed, or the individual who enjoys sitting at their computer with a cosy, relaxing atmosphere.

A relaxing, eloquent experience that can be played at any pace. Become immersed in a panoramic world filled with resplendent colors, beautiful hand-animated visuals, and a smooth, easy-listening soundtrack.
