To “briefly” summarize, The Wolf Among Us is an urban fantasy detective noir narrative-driven choose-your own adventure game… That’s a lot of 10-dollar words for “it’s a TellTale game and was very well received at the time”. I’m more of a TellTale’s Walking Dead kinda guy, but I have heard good things about Wolf Among Us. Other than vague memories that the player character looks like the bastard lovechild of Wolverine and Joel from The Last of Us, I’m relatively agnostic on most of the game’s plot… but nothing I can’t BS my way through with the bits and bob’s I’ve absorbed through pop-culture osmosis.

Briefly on TellTale Games, as a company: The short version? They went bankrupt in 2018 because they only made one type of game (that being choice-based narrative games with varrying degrees of gameplay outside of standard choice prompts)! Say what you will about Konami, but at least it’s harder to run a gambling den of pachinko machines into the ground than samey games overly relying on writing quality, which varies game to game from masterclass to tweenage fanfic.net author… Unless you’re Donald Trump, in which case, running a casino into the ground is basically a typical Tuesday!

TellTale then got bought by LCG Entertainment and announced plans for a Wolf Among Us sequel in 2019, which you can find out more on here. The Wolf Among Us is based on Bill Willingham’s Fables comic series, so there’s likely lots of story tidbits from there that aren’t in the game… Hypothetically speaking, I’m leaving the statements on adaptation faithfulness to the folks at Cinefix.

The Good News! After 2 years of silence on The Wolf Among Us 2, TellTale recently released a tweet regarding an End of 2021 update down low, with promises that more on Wolf Among Us will be discussed in 2022.

The Possibly Neutral News! The Wolf Among Us 2’s lengthy development between occasional promises of new projects is vaguely reminiscent of TellTale’s talk leading up to its bankruptcy. That said, it’s good that they’re not pulling a Naughty Dog and making their employees crunch like Honey Nut Cheerios… As far as I’m aware.

Oh wait, more good news! TellTale did announce various future partnerships in this year’s Game Awards, specifically, working on The Expanse, based on the Amazon Prime adaptation of the sci-fi novels by James S.A. Corey.

Calling all Star Trek fans! Here’s something to get your weekend off to a great start. Last night, we got the first sneak-peak at a new third-person Star Trek adventure game. We told you The Game Awards would deliver, right?

Titled Star Trek Resurgence, the game is being developed by a new studio called Dramatic Labs. Whilst that may have some of you feeling a bit cautious at first, there’s nothing to worry about here. Despite their new status, the company is actually filled with experienced developers who used to work for Telltales on games such as The Walking Dead and The Wolf Among Us. Does that put your mind at ease a little bit?

You had every right to be taken aback right beforehand. After all, when was the last time the Star Trek franchise got a genuinely well received video game? Star Trek online back in 2010? There’s nothing really of note since then. So to then hear a rookie studio is taking on this beloved project, well you’d only fear the worst! But like we say, relax, we reckon they’ve got this. Dramatic Labs Hoping To Bring Star Trek Back To Its Rightful Place

What exactly can we come to expect from this new game then? If the team is full of former Walking Dead devs, well a good story-driven experience that’s for sure! According to reports, the game will tell an original story set in the era just after the events of Star Trek :The Next Generation. 

You will be stationed aboard the U.S.S RESOLUTE and take control of Officer Jara Rydek and Engineer Carter Diaz. Subsequently, you’ll be tasted in figuring out a the mysteries of two alien civilisations which are about to go to war. They’ll be plenty of opportunites to explore the vast Star Trek universe and we just cannot wait to see it in all its glory!

“As fans of Star Trek, it’s truly an honor to be crafting a story which puts players right in the heart of the action, where significant choices and decisions will affect the entire narrative,” said Kevin Bruner, Founder of Dramatic Labs. “Built from the ground up using Epic’s Unreal engine and our proprietary narrative engine, this game showcases our team’s evolution in creating thought-provoking story-rich adventures.”

Minecraft: Story Mode first game-play trailer revealed at Minecon 2015

A Minecraft-based narrative adventure series was revealed last year by Telltale Games, The Walking Dead and The Wolf Among Us developer. At this year’s Minecon, Minecraft: Story Mode was revealed.

Patton Oswalt (comedian and Ratatouille lead) will be playing the part of Jesse, who must find the legendary adventure, the Order of the Stone, because “terror is unleashed”. The rest of the all-star cast will include Brian Posehn, Ashley Johnson, Scott Porter, Martha Plimpton, Dave Fennoy, Corey Feldman, Billy West and Pee-wee Herman himself, Paul Reubens.

Telltale will be working with Mojang on this new venture and, like most Telltale series, this one will be comprised of five episodes.

“We’ve worked closely with the amazing team at Mojang to ensure this story is a natural fit for the Minecraft world fans already know and love,” said Telltale CEO and co-founder Kevin Bruner. “As Jesse, players will steer their own path through a tale of adventure and survival; all brought to life by an all-star cast. Through Telltale’s choice-based gameplay and a story spanning from the Nether to the Farlands, the End, and beyond, we can’t wait for fans to experience this new take on the beloved world of Minecraft.”

“The interactive storytellers at Telltale are giving players the chance to explore their own unique interpretation of the Minecraft universe,” added Mojang chief word officer Owen Hill. “They’ve crafted a story that follows the logic of Minecraft, but still manages to feel original. It’s actually pretty funny too. And the pig is adorable.”

Minecraft: Story Mode’s first episode will be premiered later this year on PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PC, Mac, iOS and Android.

Point-and-click adventure game arrives on iOS and Android

Telltale’s episodic game, take-on Gearbox’s FPS franchise, has arrived on the iOS and Android! The first episode, ‘Zero Sum’, is out now and available to purchase on the Apple App Store and Google Play. The mobile edition is available on both platforms for $4.99.

The app grants access to the game’s initial episode, with an in-app season pass purchase option available for those of you who aren’t interested in paying for each release individually as they become available.

So, Telltale (The Walking Dead developer) have released another teaser ahead of their new adventure game which is based on George R.R Martin’s grand fantasy series, A Song of Ice and Fire, which they posted to their Twitter!

Telltale have reached an agreement with HBO, as confirmed last year, to make an episodic series of games based on the fantastic fantasy fiction! Not a lot about the upcoming game has been confirmed as of yet, as in which wonderful world the game will have it’s story set in.

All very exciting stuff so, if you’re an avid fan, then we suggest you keep both eyes peeled for more info!
