The wordle craze continues with a web-based clone for the massively popular battle royale game

It is impossible to deny the rapid success of Wordle. The word game has taken the internet by storm, as players fight to keep their streaks alive by carefully guessing the Wordle word of the day. The game even became popular enough to be purchased by The New York Times. With such success, comes imitations. With everything under the sun getting some sort of Wordle clone, why not Fortnite? That’s what the folks at Fortniteskins.com figured, and they have now created their own Fortnite-themed version of Wordle called Fortle that you can now place once per day.

Unlike some other Wordle clones, the rules here are identical, it’s just that the word list is Fortnite themed instead of using all 2,000+ viable words from the New York Times version of the game. The colours have also received changes, to match the theme of Fortnite. Gold (like the legendary items) means you have the right letter in the right spot, purple (like epic items) means you have the right letter in the wrong spot. Grey is wrong letter, wrong spot.

Fortnite has managed to build up an impressive amount of content and story over the course of it’s first two chapters, and the three seasons of the current third chapter. As such, there’s a surprisingly high number of five letter words that fit within the game’s theming. BUILD, STONE, FORTS, SPIES, TREES, STORM, KNOCK, FIGHT, SPAWN, SCOPE, PHASE, CRANK etc. But if you’re having trouble, it also helps that the same website that Fortle is on houses the entire library of the Fortnite content that can easily be used as a mini cheat sheet if needed. Not that we encourage the very serious business that is cheating at Wordle.

As for Fortnite itself, the current Doctor Strange led season has been making a few waves by shaking up it’s core gameplay, by disabling it’s signature building mechanics. Chapter 3, season 2 involves warfare between factions on the ground, and we are starting to see IO blimps crash to the surface as a result of the fighting. Fortnite recently donated all proceeds from the first two weeks of the season to Ukraine relief (thanks to the war theme being very ill-timed), which raised an astonishing $144 million in just two weeks.

Oh, Wordle, Wordle, Wordle. For the longest time I have been making jokes of Americans spelling or pronouncing things wrong… Until not very long ago, when one Wordle answer was ‘Humor’ and not ‘Humour’! Pack up your dictionaries lads, may as well admit defeat while the rest of the world is too busy poking fun at Fox News, or Florida Men, or supersized burgers, or whatever other shenanigan of the week takes attention from the state of things in the ol’ red-white-and-blue… Oh wait, they took that one? The French too? F**** it, WE’RE DOING IT LIVE!

Wordle Royale? Well, yes, but actually no. From the success of Wordle, a surprising number of imitators have put strangely unique spins on the gameplay loop, which quite a twist considering the usual gaming pipeline of “popular good and unique, to popular and good, to… popular”.

That brings us to today’s topic of conversation, Squabble, which is essentially a competitive multiplayer version, including staples of stereotypical multiplayer and royale shooters like hit points, kill cams, and the sweet orgasmic bliss achieved from the thought of coming out on top against the odds of your competition… No pun intended, for once.

Your hit points essentially work like in-game health, which gets reduced with every wrong guess and healed with every correct letter you find. And if you thought things were stressful enough before, the battle royale mode also means you take damage if you take too long to think!

I’ve joked before of Wordle being the perfect game for grammar nazis, but this is basically Hunger Games-level tension WITH WORDS!

Besides the 6-99 player large royale modes with a ‘last man standing’ win condition, you can also set up smaller 2-5 player rooms with your friends.

A talented Minecraft player builds a Redstone version of the popular Wordle browser game

Minecraftallow and the Redstone mechanics for a massive amount of creativity for those that can master them. Many players have already been able to do things such create intricate circuitry and even create a fully functional version of the popular Wordle browser game.

Many Minecraft players who are deep into redstone circuitry prefer to utilise a superflat Creative mode world. This prevents natural terrain from getting in the way of its special wiring. Given that the redstone Wordle is in the sky, it seems that would be the case and for good reason. The time spent gathering the materials for a massive redstone project can take nearly as long as a project itself.

Players are provided with a no-risk playground for prototyping when playing Minecraft, which is a major reason why big redstone projects are even possible.

Even with its longievity ten years going strong, Minecraft updates have helped keep the game fresh for returning and new players alike. Previous updates have expanded the redstone toolset  by adding bow and arrow targets, and other blocks that add even more options to the already large amount of tools available to redstone enthusiasts.

The Wild Update is coming soon, and will be the final form of the new Sculk-type blocks and will introduce even more fresh mechanics to the game. For fans of Wordle, though, it is hard to think of a better creation than this

It’s good to be back! I swear, you turn your back from blogs for one week and BOOM! Wordle becomes a thing, Sifu drops, Uncharted drops, it’s a veritable dropping factory as far as things to cover go!

Wordle is a new free game accessible via Facebook and Messenger. Aim of the game is that every day, you get 4 or 5 guesses to what the word of the day is. The correct letters in a certain order light up if you get close enough and BOOM: Grammar nazis everywhere finally have a socially acceptable reason to mock “there” mates for using “they’re” incorrectly! Bob’s your uncle, fanny’s your aunt!

Wordle has recently been bought out by The New York Times for a ‘seven figure sum‘ due to it’s success, so needless to say, things are good for the devs (I hope).

How did Wordle ‘Destroy’ A Criminal? Sit down and strap-on, it’s story time!

CBS has recently covered the  attempted kidnapping of Denyse Holt (no relations to Raymond, or this would’ve been a much different story). The kidnapper broke into her home stark-bollock naked with a pair of scissors, forcing Ms Holt around the house while clipping phone wires and taking any nearby knives. He also forced her to take a bath with him, but as far as I’m aware, no other physical harm came to Ms Holt.

Sometime later, Holt’s daughter Meredith was concerned that something may have happened to her Mum when she realised she hadn’t sent her her daily Wordle update in the morning. This lead to friends and family calling the police and SWAT once they found out Ms Holt wasn’t reading any messages and BOOM, she was saved by the fuzz 17 hours later.

Ms Holt is safe and the criminal has been apprehended.

What took me so long… Don’t know how much detail I can go into, but the short version is: My colleagues and I took part in a sort of ‘beta test’ for lack of a better word for an upcoming collaborative project with Go2Games and others.
