“It’s way too early for Cyberpunk…”
Cyberpunk 2077 has been rumoured lately to be joining Xbox Game Pass, Xbox’s online subscription service. Well, this is, in fact, not the case.
CD Projekt Red president Adam Kiciński addressed this in a recent Q&A when asked about Cyberpunk’s potential availability on subscription services, noting, “We always consider any business opportunity, but this kind of subscription model is good at a certain moment of the lifecycle of the product, so not too early. Witcher 3 was for some time in a subscription, but we have to weigh the benefit and cost each time, so we have to compare it to sales, so it’s a decision based on data. It’s way too early for Cyberpunk.”
So while a release on Xbox Game Pass isn’t impossible, subscribers shouldn’t expect it to be added to the service any time soon.
The sales point makes sense given that Cyberpunk 2077 sold over 13.7 million units in 2020, despite being on sale for less than a month at release. Of course, that doesn’t account for all of the controversies it faced, like bugs and poor performance on previous-gen consoles, which caused it to be pulled from the PlayStation Store.
Cyberpunk 2077 is currently available for Xbox One, PS4, PC and Google Stadia. It’s also slated to release for Xbox Series X/S and PS5 next year, along with “gradually” receiving some multiplayer activities.
In other news, October and November have seen some big next-gen titles released, including Call of Duty: Vanguard, Battlefield 2042, FIFA 22, Far Cry 6, and Left 4 Dead’s spiritual successor, Back 4 Blood. Again, you can purchase all of these titles, as well as pre-ordering Elden Ring and any other games from our Go2Games website.
