Playstation’s CEO, Jim Ryan, has stated that Playstation Plus’ new library will have “all the big names present,” including Returnal, Death Stranding and Mortal Kombat 11.
On the Official Playstation Podcast, Sony Interactive Entertainment’s Jim Ryan was asked to confirm any games coming to the service; to which he responded with “I’m going to play a little hard to get on that one, but I can tell you free that we have massive publisher participation in this program. We have all the big names present,” he replied. He also continued to claim the new service will do more than focus on the larger titles and franchises, but also broaden the selection of developers too.
“We have big publishers, we have small indie publishers. We have over 200 partners working with us to put their content into PlayStation Plus, so the lineup is going to be really strong.” He continues, confirming many first party titles including, but not limited to Returnal, God of War, and Both Marvel’s Spiderman and Marvel’s Spiderman: Miles Morales. on top of this, other smaller and third party titles will also be announced at a later date, possibly closer to the release of the service.
The CEO also confirmed that the PS Plus service will not go down the route of Xbox Gamepasses, stating that this approach “could hurt” the development of some big budget titles. “This is not a road that we’ve gone down in the past,” They’ve stated, “And it’s not a road that we’re going to go down with this new service.”
In the very same podcast, Jim Ryan has confirmed that Sony is planning more acquisitions in the future.
