SEGA has registered the domain of classic game Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 3
SEGA of America have now registered the domains of Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 3. This has roused much interest and debate as to whether the real-time strategy series may be getting a sequel.
The registration, on SEGA’s part, may just be a strategic manoeuvre to secure domains for one of it’s properties, and not an actual nudge at the chance that there may be a sequel in the works. Relic Entertainment, the developer of the Dawn of War series, have not voiced much at all on anything they’re working on since it released Company of Heroes 2, so they may well be an addition to the Dawn of War series.
Released for PC in 2009, Dawn of War 2 received praise for it’s character-focused action game-play, and for gliding away from base-building. Players were presented with a selection of characters to choose from, and each with their own strengths and weaknesses.
Another studio owned by SEGA, The Creative Assembly, are currently working on Total War: Warhammer, which is a turned-based strategy game allowing “hundreds of hours” of game-play. Sega has already announced at least two more expansions for this game already.
