Horror games tend to love to leave you on your own, either with a monster or the elements. However, whilst you might think that playing with friends alleviates the tension, recently lots of chilling co-operative horror games have come out that, whilst on a clearly low budget, provide a funny and scary experience none-the-less.
Here’s a cool series of two of my favourite YouTubers playing scary games together:
What’s funny about these videos is that one of them (Mr. Memeio) is absolutely terrified of horror games and has the funniest scream. The other one, Stimpee, tries to get Memeio scared in all of the series and sometimes gets scared himself.
Horror games have been upping the bar for terrifying experiences since early 2000’s, and have been extremely popular on YouTube ever since Let’s Plays began. Fan games of creepypastas began to come out bringing a new level of accessibility and variety in what goes on in horror games, for example, in around 2012 Slender: The Eight Pages was a huge hit on YouTube and most recently, Baldi’s Basics in Education and Learning has taken the spotlight.
What’s your favourite horror game, and does it have co-op? Do you feel like it’d be better with co-op?
