Benders and non-benders rejoice! There’s a new Avatar game in the works to get excited about.
Anyone who knows me knows how big of an Avatar: The Last Airbender fan I am. So to hear Avatar Studios was being created to revive the Avatar universe and bring multiple projects to our screens again was all I could ever hope for. Yet the studio is also working hard to bring multiple mediums to its fans and is really putting out all the stops to get Avatar in the spotlight again.
So far it has already been confirmed there is a new feature film and a new tv series in the works, as well as an official RPG board game, and now, Avatar Studios is teaming up with Square Enix to bring out an official Avatar mobile game.
Avatar Mobile Game
A brand new studio for Square Enix opened in London recently, creatively titled ‘Square Enix London Mobile’, and stated it is already working on two projects based on world-renowned entertainment properties, Tomb Raider and Nickelodeon’s Avatar: The Last Airbender.
Tomb Raider Reloaded was previously announced and is in development with Crystal Dynamics, which features classic elements from the original Tomb Raider trilogy, and has an expected release date for 2022.
The untitled Avatar: The Last Airbender mobile game is currently in development with Vancouver-based studio Navigator Games and doesn’t have a scheduled release date as of yet. Avatar Studios is working very closely with its partners beyond its core projects, probably so the creators can avoid the mistakes that shall forever haunt their past (yes, I am talking about the M. Night Shyamalan movie).

While we have no idea what the game shall entail, for the time being, it is exciting to see a new video game being in development during this Avatar Studios era. Aang, Korra, Toph, and Zuko are already featured in Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl and the official RPG game was funded on Kickstarter within 16 minutes of the page being up and raised a grand total of $9,535,317 by 81,567 backers. The love for Avatar never truly died during its long absence.

I for one am excited to see what Square Enix has in store for us with this Avatar mobile game and can’t wait to hear more updates regarding it.
