EA intends to add a new specialist every season, aiming for 14 a year post launch.
EA has released new gameplay for five of their specialists in the upcoming Battlefield 2042 title, and they look pretty good. Here’s everything we know:
The first specialist is Webster Mackay. Equipped with a grappling hook that lets him reach the highest points quickly, he is looking like a menace for those camping snipers. He also has “increased agility” when aiming down sights, or zip-lining, which makes him the likely first choice for those high-intensity players.
Second, we have Maria Falck, the healing class. She is equipped with a pistol that fires off healing rounds (similar to Rainbow Six Siege’s Doc and Overwatch’s Ana). Similarly, as one would expect, she also comes ready with a defibrillator to bring fallen comrades back to life.
Next up, we have Pyotr “Boris” Guskovksy, he’s a unit of a man who can deploy automated turrets. If Boris then stands near his turret, it will boost its “efficiency”, which will likely be related to accuracy or fire rate.
Our fourth specialist is Wikus “Caspar” Van Daele, our sniper class. Alongside his trusty sniper, he is equipped with a drone that lets him survey the field and a sensor that he can use to detect nearby enemies. He sounds like a true recon specialist.
Lastly, we have the engineer, Kible “Irish” Graves, who makes his return from Battlefield 4. He is played by the brilliant actor Michael K. Williams who sadly passed away this week. As an engineer, he’s capable of dropping a sheet of impenetrable cover, alongside having the ability to provide armour to his comrades.
EA has confirmed that there are, in fact, more specialists within the game, and they plan to reveal them on their specialists page in the near future. Upon launch, EA will then add an extra specialist every season, making a grand total of 14 super soldiers a year post-launch.
Battlefield 2042 is due to release on 22nd October, and its open beta is scheduled for some time this month.
