The basketball team was selling limited Halo bundles for one day only at the weekend

Video games and sports often go hand in hand. There have been plenty of collaborations between video game companies and sports brands this year, and over the weekend, we saw another limited, one-time-only collaboration.

The collab was between LA Lakers and Microsoft as the basketball was offering out limited edition Halo bundles at its home game, to celebrate the release of Halo Infinite this week.

LA Lakers Halo Bundle

For one day only, LA Lakers and Microsoft were selling Halo Infinite bundles at the Lakers’ home, the Staples Center, during the team’s home game against the LA Clippers.

The Lakers ended up losing the game with 119-115 being the final score, but the fans won by being offered the Halo bundle, which consisted of a Lakers Swingman-style jersey, a Lakers Custom Xbox Controller, and a Master Chief figure. The Lakers jersey has the name “Master Chief” and the number “117” embroidered on the back, which is incredibly rare since NBA rules stipulate players can only choose numbers between 0-99 for their jersey (although no one goes for the number 69, unsurprisingly).

There are some mixed reviews regarding the collab as not much makes it related to Halo Infinite apart from the jersey’s custom design. The controller doesn’t have anything Halo-related on it and while it is a cool design, it could be for any Xbox franchise.

Yet fans and resellers snapped up the bundles almost immediately and with the price for the bundle being only $20 more than the regular price of a Swingman-style jersey, Microsoft was offering a pretty good deal by throwing in the controller and figure too.

We are all used to the MyCareer prequels by now; most of us just play through it on auto-pilot these days just to get some much-needed badge points. However, in NBA 2K22, we are presented with options that we haven’t previously. This year, the first thing you are going to do is choose between College Basketball or the G League, which can significantly impact your badge points. So which should you choose? We will break it down for you, so you feel fully comfortable with your choice.

NBA 2K22 MyCareer: College or G League?

Before we start, it is worth noting that no matter what you choose, you will always make it to the NBA regardless.

Choosing between the two options is more about gaining some passive skills and having the bigger opportunity for boosting certain parameters of your MyPlayer.

College Benefits:

• You will jump directly into a single-elimination tournament and earn additional badge points by winning the national championship.
• Gain more fans by playing on a national stage and proving you are a top prospect.
• Earn attribute boosts for the tournament by attending practices that teach you key skills for your build.
• Maintain Amateur status, allowing you to sign with G League after College.

G League Benefits:

• Earn permanent 5% MyPoints accelerator to speed up the process of upgrading your MyPlayer.
• Pursue endorsement opportunities on off days to earn VC and start building your Personal Brand.
• Prepare yourself for the league by playing against NBA-caliber players.
• Meet the press to take control of your narrative and practice your interviewing skills.

… So which one is better?

If you want to play at all 3 levels available in the game (i.e. College, G League, and the NBA), you should choose College. This allows you to qualify for the G League post-College and then make your way to the NBA.

On the other hand, G League is more like a shortcut that could lead you to early fame in the game; however, it might take longer to get yourself into the NBA.

Ultimately, if you want to get to the NBA as quickly as possible, you should choose College and skip the G League altogether. However, although you will reach the NBA faster this way, you will have worse stats having played for less time, meaning more standard MyCareer grind.

So if you prefer to get badge points in a version of MyCareer with a bit more of a story and context, you should choose College, G League, and finally, the NBA.

NBA 2K22 is officially releasing this week, and here is everything you need to know, including what time the game is set to release around the world.

The official release date on all platforms is Friday, September 10th, 2021. The release time may vary depending on the platform. The official release times for PC, Xbox and PlayStation are as follows:

Microsoft Store

According to the official Microsoft Store Page for NBA 2K22, players can expect the game to release on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S at MIDNIGHT in their local region.

PlayStation Store

The same goes for those looking to play NBA 2K22 on PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5, as it appears that the game will release at MIDNIGHT in your local region. That’s according to the official PlayStation Store Page for NBA 2K22 anyway.

Steam

An official release time for NBA 2K22 on Steam hasn’t been revealed just yet. But it is not uncommon for new Steam titles to release at 10AM PT / 6PM BST.

Forget Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame, because this ultimate crossover event has spent a decade in the making and is finally coming to all the candy crushin’ lovers’ fingertips across the kingdom…

Sort of.

It’s game time with Candy Crush…

For the first time ever, Candy Crush Saga is enlisting help from another cherished franchise Space Jam to help promote the new movie, Space Jam: A New Legacy, in a crossover event that is bound to take on all crossovers that have ever dared to come before it.

Almost all of Candy Crush’s events have been exclusively for themselves. allowing players a chance to earn things such as screen-clearing items and discounts for premium currency. Now in this new event, the game will offer many rewards, including the usual power-ups and exclusive new film content for Space Jam: A New Legacy. 

The crossover event is available to all players past level 25 and is set to drop July 6, the same date for the film’s release in theatres in the US (July 16 for the UK unfortunately), and will even feature a story mode for players to follow. Players will be introduced to a “candified” Lebron James as he gathers members of the Tune Squad, freeing them from the gum they’re trapped in across the candy kingdom.

There will also be a Space Jam-themed season pass available to purchase in the side title Candy Crush Soda Saga where players can collect basketballs on levels to unlock further rewards in that game too.

This crossover event will be available for two weeks and is said to be a one-time event, so don’t miss out on what is to be history in the making! If the event goes well, we will hopefully see more Candy Crush crossover events.

Get ready to jam…

With the sequel to the original 1996 Space Jam a few weeks away, we have been informed that the long-awaited sequel is also getting a tie-in video game.

‘Space Jam: A New Legacy – The Game’ will debut on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate on July 1. According to the trailer, it will also be free-to-play on the Microsoft Store on July 15th.

One would think that due to the film revolving around basketball that the game would take a similar approach. Instead, the game pays homage to the franchise’s retro roots, taking an arcade beat ’em up style approach. You take on the Goon squad, playing as Lebron James (the star of the next movie), fighting alongside Bugs Bunny and Lola Bunny. You have a mix of original moves at your disposal, some directly related to the film. You will search for pieces of Legacy Code, which in turn will help you find the secret location of the villain, rogue AI called AI G. Rhythm.

In the trailer, Bugs explains to us that the game was created as part of a contest where people submitted their ideas for an original Space Jam game. The retro game specialists at developers Digital Eclipse mashed together one person’s idea for a beat ’em up style game with the mechanics suggested by this fan.

The game will arrive just before the animated/live-action movie hits theatres and HBO Max on July 16th.

Alongside this, Xbox and Warner Bros. have announced a collaboration to release three new Space Jam-themed controllers in anticipation of the movie. The design of these controllers can be seen in the below video. Each controller is retailing at $70 and will go on sale on July 8th.
