As Thin Lizzy once elegantly put it- the boys are back in town! Payday 3, the upcoming cooperative heist game produced by Starbreeze, is seeing the gang from the original game to return. Not only this, but they’re heading straight to the big apple, New York, this time. Here we go.
Celebrating the franchises 10-year anniversary, the announcement was made during a live stream. Starbreeze director Erik Wonnevi was the one who revealed all the new details about the setting and cast. Here’s what he had to say about it:
“Dallas, Hoxton, Chains and Wolf make their glorious return to heisting with the gang being pulled back, not purely through their own choice”
In addition to this, he revealed the game is going to take a modern approach and deal with cryptocurrency.
“Payday has transitioned into the digital age, so software giants, crypto currencies, mass surveillance and the Dark Web this is reflected in future updates to gadgetory.”
Unfortunately, no game play was shown during the live stream. However, Starbreeze did treat fans with a concept art reveal of the original gang. They’re certainly looking just as good as ever.
Payday Paradise For Fans Of The Franchise
Set to launch in 2023, Payday 3 is still quite a while away for those waiting. The third game in the trilogy is hopefully going to blow us away though. Whilst we haven’t received too many details, this announcement will have everyone jumping aboard the hype train soon enough. As it is so far away, our information isn’t as heavy as we’d like. Despite this, we have been told that things aren’t going to quite be the same as the last two games.
“One game changer: the media is now covering the gang, their exploits… and who knows what might come from that…”
The game will take place following the events of Payday 2, several years after the shenanigans of the title, where they retired from criminal activities. Why they’re back though remains to be seen but we’re very happy they are.
