Apple have recently added a “leaving soon” section to the apple arcade store, signaling the departure of roughly 15 games from the service.

Apple them self have refused to comment on why said games are leaving, however MacRumors have been able to speak to an insider for comment, which has shed some light on what is going on behind the scenes.

When apple arcade first launched, Apple signed a number of three-year deals with developers, entering into contracts that provided a fixed payment and ongoing royalties. These contracts are now coming to an end, and Apple is either opting not to renew them or the developers themselves have chosen not to renew. Many of the titles leaving where either launch titles for the service or where added shortly after launch.

Developers Retain the rights to their games and can re-release them on the app store, or through other platforms, but the games that are removed from the apple arcade service wone be accessible through apple arcade.

Games can be re-added to the app store on the same day they are removed from apple arcade, but games will be uploaded with a new Bundle ID. this means that Apple Arcade Subscribers will be able to redownload the games, but they will not be able to access the same game that was available through arcade

As of right now it is not clear is saved progress will be able to transfer over from the apple arcade version of the game to the new version, should the devs choose to reintroduce their games to the app store, as that will depend on whether developers implement support for data transfer.

Games leavering include Spelldrifer, Projection: Fist Light, EarthNight, Cardpocalypse, Dead End Job, and more.

Disney has given the licensing to its characters to Apple for an upcoming Super Smash Bros-inspired action game featuring various characters from Disney’s filmography. Disney Melee Mania will be developed by Mighty Bear Games.

The game will be exclusive to Apple Arcade, which you can get for £4.99 a month to gain access to various free Apple Arcade titles. Disney Melee is set for a December release.

As shown above, the game will also feature Pixar characters, basically letting you play Death Battle. Would Frozone beat Elsa in a fight? Or would Elsa use her Deus Ex Machina powers from the closing seconds of Frozen 1 to just make him a new super suit and call it a draw? Would Toy Story Buzz be able to fight the Buzz from the upcoming Lightyear movie? WILL BING-BONG’S TAUNT INCLUDE THE CHAMPAGNE ELEPHANTS FROM DUMBO? Only one way to find out!

The gameplay will be primarily MOBA-based, or Multiplayer Online Battle Arena to you and me. Some games that fit the MOBA bill include Overwatch, Smite and League of Legends. Disney Melee Mania will focus on 3-on-3 combat which is described in a recent press release by Apple as:

‘Each champion will appear in a distinct action-ready design equipped with their own set of iconic moves and unlockable cosmetics. Throughout five-minute matches bursting with battle arena action, players will need to score the most points possible — or defeat the opposing team as many times as they can — for a chance at victory’.

It seems that they must have finally heard our frustrations, as they have officially unveiled LEGO Star Wars: Castaways, a new entry in the ever-popular spin-off series. This looks set to be an interesting release, so let’s talk about it.

NBA 2K22: Arcade Edition app is set to be released with the launch date being confirmed.

NBA 2K22 has been available for just over a month with the game releasing September 10^th. The NBA community have been divided on the release with a clear opinion not being set. Some enjoy it as it is a newly updated NBA game whereas others feel “the game adds nothing to the series” specifying on there not being many additions from 2K21. With the NBA season fast approaching, NBA 2K announce the release of the Arcade Edition for the season start, October 19^th with hopes of impressing the community as a whole.

With the NBA 2K Mobile App already available for Android and iOS devices. The Arcade Edition app is set to be more of an advanced experience bringing a great feeling to console, PC and mobile devices. The app intends to allow players to engage more, portably and anywhere they would like. NBA 2K plan on bridging the gap between the mobile experience and the experience of playing on console and PC. NBA announced the return of the Arcade Edition for this years’ adding that there will be significant differences.

Although the Mobile App is available on both iOS and Android, the Arcade Edition App will exclusively be available on iOS devices. With the release so close, despite the fact it is free of charge. It will cost reportedly a little more than 6.3 GB in file size if no patch or adjustment is made during release.

The Arcade Edition App will include My Career and The Association. The Association being a new inclusion which combines features from MyGM and MyTeam that feature on console; allowing you to create your dream team with all the inclusions of scouting rookies, making trades and recruiting free agents. Arcade Edition also allowing you to play multiplayer game modes against others online, PvP modes with hopes of improving previous controller issues which saw players struggle to connect controllers to the app which is now supposedly compatible with both Xbox One and Dualshock 4 (PS4) controllers.

NBA 2K22: Arcade Edition launches on the same day NBA’s 75^th season tips-off; making it a monumental moment with fans having the expectation of big things. Players will be able to rock the court on nearly every iOS device in date as soon as tomorrow. Including iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV.

Multiple modes can be played on the NBA 2K22 Arcade Edition. First, take to the court as a player of choice. Then, watch from the sidelines to manage or coach the team of your desire. It’s also possible to create an all-star team filled with the best players in the game. Other modes include online multiplayer and a 3v3 Blacktop mode.

There’s also an in-depth career mode, enabling you to create a pro in the style of choice, to then build him from amateur status to NBA All-star status. The pro will also be fully customizable from the floor up the court position, similar to Fifa and other console titles that allow you to do this. The gap between console gaming and mobile is diminishing year by year, and who knows where it’ll be ten years down the line? It’s going to be exciting, that’s for sure. A previously scrapped Castlevania game is coming back to life exclusively to Apple Arcade

If you have been missing your Castlevania content after the last season of the adaptation aired on Netflix earlier this year, then you’re in luck!

Konami will be releasing a previously scrapped mobile game, Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls, exclusively to Apple Arcade.

Set in a world after Dracula has been sealed away, the pages of a new story bringing together heroes of the past have begun to turn…

Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls was originally announced back in April 2018 and received a soft launch in Canada in September 2019, yet the mobile was discontinued before it reached any other region.

The mobile game is a classic full-fledged, side-scrolling 2D Castlevania style game with 60 stages for fans to enjoy. Players will have a selection of five characters they can play from previous Castlevania games, such as:

• Simon Belmont (Castlevania)
• Maria Renard (Rondo of Blood)
• Alucard (Symphony of the Night)
• Charlotte Aulin (Portrait of Ruin)
• Shanoa (Order of Ecclesia)

Having the game on Apple Arcade will mean it will no longer feature in-app purchases, as the beauty of having games on Apple Arcade means users only need to pay the £4.99 monthly subscription fee in order to get full access to the arcade’s catalogue, which has only just recently reached a grand total of 200 games.

Grimoire of Souls promises there will be a variety of equipment for players to collect as well as daily and weekly challenges, and additional playable characters to be added later on.

There’s no release date set for when Grimoire of Souls arrives, but it’s said to be out soon.

The technology giants now have 200 games under their gaming subscription and no signs of stopping any time soon.

Apple Arcade has managed to surpass having 200 games in its catalogue for subscription members to play and enjoy.

The subscription service started out in September 2019 and it has just taken under 2 years for Apple to reach this achievement and the company is showing no signs of stopping any time soon.

All games available in Apple Arcade are free and there are no in-app purchases needed to be made, just the £4.99 per month or £49.99 per year. A free one month trial is also available for players to test out the subscription service first, and all members of the family have access to the games provided.

New and Upcoming Releases for Apple Arcade

Apple has been working with both indie developers and big-name companies for the collection of its games. The news of the Apple Arcade reaching its 200-game milestone came about when it added an even more impressive collection on August 6. It came alongside the release of Super Leap Day, Super Stickman Golf 3+, and Monster Hunter Stories+. 

Apple Arcade has also added over 30 classic games to its collection, including Fruit Ninja, Cut the Rope, Monument Valley and Solitaire (no sign of the beloved Flappy Bird coming back anytime soon…)

Moreover, Apple has now announced what other games fans can expect with upcoming additions to the subscription services. No specific release date has been announced for either so far, but they will be worth the wait.

Zookeeper World by the developer Kiteretsu is the new instalment for the Zookeeper puzzle game series that will exclusively be available on Apple Arcade.  Players must face a variety of challenging match-3 puzzles and collect coins while placing animals, equipment, and plants to increase the zoo’s charm to attract more visitors, as well as expand and customise their zoo.

Zen Pinball Party by Zen Studios is a pinball game with designs inspired by Dreamworks Animation and Hasbro brands. Players will challenge their friends and family for the highest score on tables featuring Trolls, Kung-Fu Panda, How to Train Your Dragon, MY LITTLE PONY and more

And finally, from the Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi, Apple Arcade’s roleplaying game Fantasian is expecting to receive a “Part 2” update on Friday, from the developers Mistwalker. This part of the saga is said to be more quest-driven and gameplay is expected to take between 40 and 60 hours.

The classic game is back with a funky twist!

Developer and publisher N3TWORK has released a trailer for their upcoming mobile game, Tetris Beat, which takes the fundamental gameplay of the classic Tetris and fuses rhythm game elements to it.

The game will feature on Apple Arcade and will include exclusive music from a wide variety of artists.

What to Expect from Tetris Beat

The game doesn’t have an official release date yet, however, the developers have promised it will be on Apple Arcade in the near future.

The game will consist of three different modes that will have three difficulty levels and a variety of time-based missions. Players will score points by dropping and rotating Tetriminos to the beat of the music to form combos and improve their scores.

The Tap mode will allow players to pick the best Tetrimino to drop in any location in time to the music. The Drop mode will require players to rotate and drop them in a similar way, encouraging them to follow to the beat of the song. And finally, the Marathon mode features endless Tetris gameplay that is more traditional and includes split-screen versus to play on Apple TV.

Tetris Beat will feature exclusive music from a wide variety of artists, including Alison Wonderland, Hannah Diamon, Octo Octa, and more. 18 songs will be available on the launch with new songs being added every month, with most being from the hip-hop, pop, and dance genre.

N3TWORK has also stated that the game will support physical controllers and spatial audio for AirPods Pro and AirPods Max.
