Artplay have confirmed that they will be deviating from their Previous Roadmap when it comes to bloodstained, and that the next character to come to the game will Not be from the World of the game.

After bringing up that some “technical Problems” have slowed down development, Artplay detailed what’s next for the Spiritual Successor to Castlevania Symphony of the Night.

From Artplay: “We can confirm that this new character is NOT from the world of Bloodstained. We have been working closely with a well-known partner to bring their character (and a friend) into the game.

As with previous characters, you will be able to explore the entire map, though certain abilities will need to be acquired before some areas and bosses can be accessed. Along the way you will be able to increase the rank and class of the character’s special ability to grow in power.”

Who this character is is currently unclear. Given it is stated to be from “A friend it is likely another Indie Platformer Character, but with the likes of shovel knight in the game already its kind of hard to guess who this new character may be.

The team does not currently have a release timeframe for the Release.as of now, but they will be included in the next major update.

The update after this mysterious characters release was also mentioned, with conformation of Co-op and VS multiplayer, as well as “Chaos Mode”

Published 505 Games have also confirmed that Bloodstained will receive a Sequel, although no release date has been given.

Major Japanese publisher Konami is reportedly making a comeback next year with some of its biggest franchises

According to VGC, Konami is set to make a huge return into the gaming industry with major franchises that have been dormant for a good few years.

The Japanese publisher is one of the largest in the gaming industry, however, has been lacking some new releases for their biggest titles, such as Castlevania, Silent Hill, and Metal Gear Solid, but that is set to change thanks to an anonymous source that spoke to the UK based gaming news source.

Konami’s Return

Over the past few years, Konami has decreased its output of console games and turned its attention to Pachinko gambling games in Japan (something very fun and very very addicting so kudos for them). However, the company has stated it has had a recent restructure and is set to bring back its biggest franchises in various ways.

The first in the lineup is a new Castlevania game, described as a “reimagining” of the series. Castlevania has already made a comeback recently with the Castlevania Advanced Collection for the Nintendo Switch (and soon to be other consoles), yet the last, new Castlevania game that was released by Konami was in 2014 with Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2. Castlevania has always been a popular title, yet since then, the vampire hunting franchise has gotten bigger thanks to the Netflix animated series first released in 2017. The new game is stated to already be in development at Konami, with the support of external studios.

It is also said multiple games for the Silent Hill franchise are currently in development at various external development studios. The last game from the main series published by Konami was Silent Hill Downpour, released back in 2012. The news of this project came earlier in the year, but also carried a lot of speculation since the team at the independent studio Bloober did not deny nor confirm what the team was working on. There was also another rumour that Japanese video game designer Kojima could be working on one of the many new games, yet it has been confirmed to be false.

Another franchise Konami has a new game in development for is Metal Gear Solid. Metal Gear Solid has also not received a new game for some time, with the last title being Metal Gear Solid: Survive, released back in 2018. It is said that gaming developer Virtuos is working with Konami to bring the project to life, along with the remasters of the Metal Gear Solid games for modern consoles. The developer has recently worked on the Switch ports for franchises such as Dark Souls, BioShock, and Battlefield. It is said that the new project will be centred around Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, which will go down well with fans of that particular instalment.

So, a busy year is in store for Konami. The Japanese publisher has told VGC that we can expect to see all of these publically showcased in major shows next year- the company had to pull out of E3 2021 due to timing issues, but it seems it’s ready to come back swinging into the industry with all these hefty instalments lined up.

Castlevania Advance Collection has been rated by another games rating board, giving us more hope for this GBA remaster to be real

Back in June, I wrote my first ever article for Go2Games regarding the news of a Castlevania Advance Collection being rated by two games rating boards, yet with no official statement from Konami, it was still up in the air whether we could be expecting it any time soon.

Now, another games rating board has rated the GBA remaster of the gothic-horror classic video game series and has given us more of an insight into something that is basically happening, we just haven’t received the news from Castlevania’s own IP owner.

Castlevania Advance Collection

The Taiwan Entertainment Software Rating Information website joins the ranks of the Australian Classification Board and the Game Rating and Administration Committee of Korea by listing the Castlevania Advance Collection, and has rated the game PG-12 for “sex, violence, horror and inappropriate language”.

The website has also stated what platforms we can expect to see the remaster on; Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

The Castlevania Advance Collection is composed of three games that have all been critically reviewed and each score 91 on Metacritic.

Castlevania: Circle of the Moon was released in 2001, set in 1830, and follows the protagonist Nathan Graves, who’s following the footsteps of his deceased parents and his mentor Morris Baldwin take on Dracula. Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance was next released in 2002. The game is set in 1748 and follows Simon Belmont’s descendant Juste Belmont, who is trying to save his kidnapped friend Lydie from Dracula’s castle. The final game, Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow, took on a less conventional setting. Released in 2003, this Castlevania game is set in 2035 and follows teenager Soma Cruz who has occult powers.

These GBA games have only been re-released singularly before on the Wii U console back in 2015 so it will be exciting when Konami confirms whether we get this remaster collection or not.

A previously scrapped Castlevania game is coming back to life exclusively to Apple Arcade

If you have been missing your Castlevania content after the last season of the adaptation aired on Netflix earlier this year, then you’re in luck!

Konami will be releasing a previously scrapped mobile game, Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls, exclusively to Apple Arcade.

Set in a world after Dracula has been sealed away, the pages of a new story bringing together heroes of the past have begun to turn…

Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls was originally announced back in April 2018 and received a soft launch in Canada in September 2019, yet the mobile was discontinued before it reached any other region.

The mobile game is a classic full-fledged, side-scrolling 2D Castlevania style game with 60 stages for fans to enjoy. Players will have a selection of five characters they can play from previous Castlevania games, such as:

• Simon Belmont (Castlevania)
• Maria Renard (Rondo of Blood)
• Alucard (Symphony of the Night)
• Charlotte Aulin (Portrait of Ruin)
• Shanoa (Order of Ecclesia)

Having the game on Apple Arcade will mean it will no longer feature in-app purchases, as the beauty of having games on Apple Arcade means users only need to pay the £4.99 monthly subscription fee in order to get full access to the arcade’s catalogue, which has only just recently reached a grand total of 200 games.

Grimoire of Souls promises there will be a variety of equipment for players to collect as well as daily and weekly challenges, and additional playable characters to be added later on.

There’s no release date set for when Grimoire of Souls arrives, but it’s said to be out soon.

Castlevania keeps staying in the news recently. After the latest announcement of the Netflix adaptation getting a spin-off series to follow on the success of the original show, it has now been hinted that a newly revised collection of the original Game Boy Advance games could be released in the near future.

The Castlevania Advance Collection has yet to be announced by its makers Konami, however, the unannounced collection was rated by the Australian Classification Board on June 18, receiving the ‘M’ rating for its fantasy violence.

The Castlevania Advance Collection is composed of three games that been critically acclaimed all around, with each game scoring 91 on Metacritic. Konami has previously released other Castlevania collections; the Castlevania Anniversary Collection was released in 2019 and featured eight older Castlevania games that were originally released on consoles such as NES, SNES, Game Boy, and Mega Drive. It has also released other themed compilations of its retro classics, such as Contra Anniversary Collection and Anniversary Collection: Arcade Classics, all of which can be found on Xbox One, PS4, Switch and PC.

Castlevania Advance Collection would be the fourth instalment of this series.
