Oh, Fallout, I do have a peculiar relationship with you! On the one hand, all of my opinions on the games I never played are largely the product of Hbomberguy‘s videos on the series! On the other hand, I myself acquired a free Fallout Vault Boy Bobblehead when I purchased Super Smash Bros 3DS for reasons unbeknownst  to me. Regardless, it is a cute and quirky little thing, not half-bad as far as I’m concerned.

Back to the topic of today’s blog: A Fallout fan has recently been setting up various places to hide little Fallout bobbleheads around Phoenix Arizona. Others have been documenting their hunt for the cranial-enlarged pieces of gaming memorabilia on YouTube, revealing the various deductive steps he’s been taking to find them to hopefully encourage other treasure hunters to join the fun.

Brief Explanations: Fallout, Vault Boy and More: The Fallout games… Well, the modern ones at least, have been developed by Bethesda, who’ve garnered something of a reputation for making games that vary from incredible masterpiece to glitch-filled messes with a bad case of shanked jankers *cough cough (Fallout 76) cough cough*. The Vault Boy mascot (as shown in the thumbnail above) can be collected in various Fallout games in bobblehead form, each one serving to upgrade your character in some form or other.

The “Bobblegeddon” project is the work of ‘mafnxxx’… For my own reasons, I’ll henceforth refer to the bobblegeddon project’s author as ‘Ma Finks’. This is his Reddit, he’s also posted his various clues to the ‘IRL Easter Egg hunt’ for the project on Imgur, Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. Ma Finks also hand-crafts each of the bobbleheads he hides, so +10 Artistic Respect Points for willingness to potentially sacrifice your art… for art! Here’s a video from Ma Finks documenting the start of bobblegeddon!

There is a method to the Ma Finks Madness with hiding the bobbleheads! He places them based on a thematically similar corresponding stat or perk related between Fallout and Arizona. For example, the medical bobblehead was placed outside the Louisa Kellam Center for Women’s Health.

While some discovered bobbleheads have been left untouched since found, other Reddit users have theorised many may be already gone, as there are some Fallout bobbleheads with missing pieces! Ma Finks has said anyone who finds a piece may keep it and any of the figures are for anyone to take who wants them.

As Bobblegeddon started on December 29th of 2021, any Arizonans reading this may be fresh out of luck to find their own bobblehead, but hey, check the various online spaces and communities dedicated to finding the bobbleheads and maybe you’ll be in luck.

Ever since the studio was taken over by Xbox, fans of Bethesda have been wondering where the studio will go next. Responsible for legendary gaming series such as Elder Scrolls and Fallout, they have always delivered great single-player titles in the past. Whilst we have seen the studio delve online with Fallout 76, it has now been announced the company will continue to focus on single-player experiences.

This perhaps won’t come as too much of a surprise to many. As previously mentioned, the Fallout and Elder Scrolls series are their main products which are usually both single-player titles.  Other notable titles under Bethesda’s library include the reboots of beloved shooters Doom and Wolfenstein, alongside Dishonored, The Evil Within, and its most recent release, Deathloop.

As a result, the longtime Bethesda creative director Tood Howard announced on an IGN Unfiltered podcast that this is what they will be focusing upon for the future. Not only this, but he admitted that while future games may contain ‘social elements’, their priority isn’t going to be on enhancing those features. This will come as disappointing news for fans of The Elder Scrolls Online and Fallout 76. Especially for that acting troupe that recently performed Macbeth in Fallout 76. Go watch them while you can I suppose!

Bethesda Have Long List Of Upcoming Single-Player Titles

The next four upcoming Bethesda games are all single-player driven experiences. The Elder Scrolls 6 and Starfield are games we’re really looking forward to, as are many fans across the globe. Similarly, Ghostwhire: Tokyo is also a more narrative-driven title from Bethesda’s Japan-based developer Tango Gameworks. What a great time to be a fan of single-player games, ay?

PlayStation fans have been treated to great single-player titles in recent years, so perhaps this is Xbox realising they need to step up their game. Their exclusive library has been rather poor in comparison to the PS4 who boast the like of 2018’s Spider-Man and God of War, which Sony used as a selling point for the system. Adversely, Xbox decided to sell their consoles by showing off its technical capabilities. Unfortunately, that means when it comes to the exclusive library, they were completely outperformed. Besides Halo, Gears and Forza they don’t really have much of note to offer.

That is until now. Bethesda have clearly had discussions with Xbox to be the main studio to sort this problem out. Let’s just hope they are able to deliver! However, if your looking for that great online experience, then Elder Scrolls Online is still available to buy here. Don’t miss out!

Have you been missing the theatre during the pandemic? Not had a chance to get down to the West End yet? Well fear not, as one acting troupe is bringing the Globe Theatre right to your front room. Through the form of…Fallout 76?

Yes, you read that correctly. As many theatre actors have been sidelined during COVID times, thespians have had to get even more creative. That’s precisely what The Theatre Company have done with Fallout 76. Their latest performance took place at the end of October, in which they did a fantastic rendition of Macbeth (or The Scottish Play if your superstitious).

This isn’t the first time either that they’ve done this either. Fallout 76 has been home to performances of Hamlet, Clockwork Orange, Grease, Newsies, West Side Story and various others. Who’d have thought the performing arts and Bethesda’s action video game would be such a good mix? Check out there impressive performance down below:

Acting, Shakespeare And Gaming- The Unlikely Trio

What a unique idea, right? If only the great William Shakespeare knew that his plays would find themselves on our consoles all these later. It’s even the full Shakespearean experience too, as one member of the team  recreated the Globe Theatre. Shakespeare’s original playhouse was demolished in 1644, but you can see it thriving now on Fallout 76!

How did they manage to put such an assured performance online too? Well, it seems that eight players performed together over local voice chat whilst using the games emotes or holding props to the punctuate the dialogue.  The majority of the cast played a variety of roles, with their even being a backstage area for costume changes. It truly is gaming genius at its finest. This can’t be an easy feat to produce, and just goes to show the dedication people have for the performing arts. It’s fantastic.

After watching their Macbeth, we’re sure your wondering what next they’ll be performing. Well, fear not, as they’ve confirmed that they are currently working on staging The Nutcracker at a recreated version of the Bolshoi. Christmas really can’t come soon enough!

Fallout 76 and Final Fantasy VIII Remastered to join the service, along with The Last of Us II and others.

After announcements made in a recent blog post, seems like PS Now might be making some moves to catch up with Xbox Game Pass, and are adding one of their AAA games. I’ve always thought of PS Now like Netflix, and Game Pass like Prime Video.

PS Now and Netflix have some gems, but are mostly full of lackluster titles. On the plus side, they seem to stay there forever. Meanwhile, Game Pass has had a huge rota of AAAs in its library, including Red Dead Redemption 2, but you have to snap up the opportunity to play them before they’re replaced.

Prime does a similar thing (I miss you dearly But I’m a Cheerleader). I live in permanent fear that they’ll take Banana Fish off of Prime someday. Although it can be heartbreaking when a favourite leaves the service, it’s definitely a better mode of operations for a games streaming service. How often do you replay a video game? Besides a few favourites, most of us gamers do a one-and-done deal with the titles we play.

Despite having both a PlayStation 4 and Xbox One at my disposal, I usually find myself reaching for the Xbox controller for this reason. PS Now just doesn’t cut it compared to Game Pass. (Also, 4 months of Spotify premium was a pretty nice perk.) I’ve been hoping that PS Now would get a bit of a revamp, and that some interesting titles would be joining the service to make it worth the £8.99 per month cost.

It looks like my prayers have finally been answered, check out these upcoming titles:

The Last of Us II

Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us II is definitely the biggest title joining the service this month. If you somehow know nothing about The Last of Us, it’s set in an apocalyptic post-pandemic world. Having finally found peace after the events of the first game, Ellie and Joel are settled down in a community of survivors.

When the peace that Ellie had finally been settling into is violently ripped away from her, she embarks on a journey for justice – or rather, revenge.

Fallout 76

The Fallout series needs no introduction. Final Fantasy VIII Remastered

Final Fantasy VIII remastered is joining the service, and more Final Fantasy titles are on the way!
It is a time of war. The Republic of Galbadia, under the influence of the sorceress Edea, mobilizes its great armies against the other nations of the world. Squall and other members of SeeD, an elite mercenary force, join hands with Rinoa, a resistance fighter, to fight against Galbadia’s tyrannical rule and to prevent Edea from fulfilling her ultimate goal.

Yet Another Zombie Defense HD

Survive undead waves night after night alone or with up to three friends in this top-down arcade zombie shooter with tactical/strategy elements. Prepare yourself before the night falls by building defensive barricades, buying guns and ammo, and setting up turrets. The goal: alive as long as you can. Each night puts your skills to the test, as dark forces become stronger with each wave. The game offers three different modes – Defense, Endless, and Deathmatch.

Desperados III

Last, but certainly not least, is Desperados III. This story-driven, real-time tactical game challenges you to survive the worst the Wild West can throw at you. Play as John Cooper and join him as he sets out on a quest for redemption. Travel through rural towns, swamps and riverbanks, as you journey towards a dramatic showdown worthy of Wild West legends. Survive the dangers ahead using your gang’s abilities – such as Strongman Hector’s trusty axe, bounty hunter McCoy’s lures, Kate’s hidden gun – and your wits.

QuakeCon is heading online again this year but Bethesda has promised a lot of developer panels, in-game rewards, and more.

QuakeCon started 25 years ago as a local gathering of id Software fans and has now transpired to one of the biggest gaming events in North America.

On Thursday, publisher Bethesda released its schedule for the three-day event that starts on August 19 and runs to August 21. It is an online event due to the worldwide pandemic and will be streaming on Bethesda’s Twitch account.

QuakeCon 2021 Schedule

The first event starts at 2PM ET (7PM BST) on the first day with id Software and MachineGames celebrating the 25th anniversary of the original Quake game. It is then followed by an in-depth look into upcoming releases and updates such as Deathloop and Fallout 76, which is then followed by an inside look into Elder Scrolls Online and Skyrim retrospectively, followed by an update for Doom Eternal. The day ends with a Fallout 76 endgame guide stream and event-goers have a chance to play the game with UFC’s Rob Whittaker.

The second day starts with a UK stream team build-a-thon for Fallout 76 and is followed by more panels dedicated to Quake and Deathloop. There is then a surprising, yet fun event with WeRateDogs, the popular Twitter account that rates dogs and has over 9 million followers. Other events in the day include more panels on Elder Scrolls Online, a 10th-anniversary interactive panel for Skyrim, and an exclusive music performance by Trivium.

The final day begins with a Doom Eternal “Prayer vs Slayer” and another UK stream team event but this time focusing on Elder Scrolls. There will also be a Doom Eternal Community Bonanza, followed by Fallout 76 CAMP Love it or Nuke it. The last two events of the QuakeCon will be the Quake World Championship Grand Finals and Live Art Creation of Elder Scrolls Online.

In addition to the panels and events, eventgoers can enter to win prizes by watching the streams. Doom Eternal players will have access to free unique skins, badges, and more by logging in between August 19 and September 2. Quake Champions players can also do this until August 21. Meanwhile, Elder Scrolls Online players get bonus in-game rewards for watching at least 15 minutes of the stream after linking their Twitch and ESO accounts.

Bethesda is also celebrating QuakeCon 2021 with sales of 60-85% off on select titles.
