We’re getting closer and closer to the release date of the brand new video game titled ‘United Football League‘ (UFL), the newest name on the football video game market and one that is set to challenge FIFA and eFootball. Electronic Arts (EA) and Konami have been battling it out for over well over two decades for superiority over the football game industry but now they have a third competitor in UFL, which is also backed by footballing legend in Cristiano Ronaldo as well as other well renowned footballers and teams around the world, both EA and Konami will have to work hard to retain there loyal fanbase if the UFL does live up to the hype.

Details on UFL are emerging all the time, so here’s a look at everything we know so far.

What is UFL?

UFL is a brand new football game developed by Strikerz Inc . The game was announced at Gamescom in Cologne last year in August and ever since then, the hype and anticipation has been growing ever since. Strikerz Inc have formed a partnership with FIFPRO, an organisation that represents 65,000 professional footballers, as well as analytics company InStat.

UFL release date?

As of today, there’s been no exact release date for UFL but the game will likely drop sometime in 2022, If I had to guess, an Autumn launch could be on the cards as that is when one of their biggest competitors FIFA would drop their next installment and will also coincide the new 2022/23 season. We will update this blog on further developments around the official release date.

UFL price tag?

Yeah the price of the UFL game is going to be a bit of a doozy….Nah I’m just kidding, one of the main appeals to the game is that its set to be free to play.title with some in-app purchases, going by Strikerz Inc. comments when announcing the game.

“The game will be available for free and we will regularly add new features and updates with no mandatory payments or yearly fees,” a press release read. “The game is designed to be a fair-to-play experience that implies a skill-first approach and zero pay-to-win options.”

I mean usually you’re looking at parting with around £50 if you want to buy copies of FIFA at the time of release, so this is potentially a huge development for the football gaming industry.

What consoles will UFL be on?

Strikerz Inc are yet to officially annouce what consoles UFL is going to be on but we can be sure that it’ll be announced on the following;

UFL main features?

UFL allows players to create their own football clubs made up with more than 5,000 licensed footballers,If I have to make a guess, I can imagine it being like FIFA’s ultimate team but more precise and articulate.Players will be able to compete with opponents from around the world in various game types. These game types include 1v1, 2v2 and 3v3 online and offline matches. We’ve also been told that they’ll be many “mission and challenges” to complete with further details to emerge soon.

Strikerz Inc have managed to gain partnerships with the following clubs;

Which footballers have partnerships with UFL

At the top of this article, we announced that Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the players that is backing the UFL as well as being an official partner of the game but he’s not the only one; Alongside Ronaldo we also have Oleksandr Zinchenko, Kevin De Bruyne , Bobby Firmino and Romelu Lukaku have all advertised the game on their social media, and they also appeared in the gameplay trailer that dropped in January.

Final Thoughts

I’m excited, I like the look of the game from the trailer I have seen and heard from the UFL announcement last month. For years now players (myself included) have had only two football games to choose from so adding a third option is quite refreshing from a players standpoint and adds much needed competition to both eFootball and FIFA, any competition is good competition and the only winners here are the players, you can’t go wrong no matter what you choose. Both eFootball and UFL are free to play and FIFA would cost around £50, so if you’re a football head, I’d recommend you’d go for all three and try them out yourselves, I mean that what i’m going to do and I doubt i’m going to be disappointed. Looking forward to playing UFL this year and seeing how it holds up with the other two football game giants. I feel like 2022 will be an interesting year.

The best-selling football game is getting significant changes to its career mode

FIFA 22 will be receiving new features to its career mode, according to its senior game designer Alex Constantinescu, who goes into detail about all the changes on the official FIFA 22 website in the latest Pitch Notes blog.

FIFA 22 is the forthcoming instalment for the popular football game franchise developed by EA that is expected to drop on October 1.

FIFA 22 Career Mode

The long-overdue revamp consists of many updates, however, the most notable ability is players being able to make their own team completely from scratch in Manager Career mode. Players can choose the club’s name, commentary name, league, rival team, as well as customise their team’s kit, crest, and stadium.

The customisation of the stadium works in similar ways to FIFA Ultimate Team where players can choose the base colour, seat colour, pitch pattern, net shape, goal songs, crowd chants, and walkout anthems.

Players creating their own club can also auto-generate their starting players, choosing their average star rating and average age, as well as their starting transfer budget and their board’s priorities.

Other improvements include: players can now come on from the bench instead of going from playing no matches to full matches; your manager will give you match objectives and their rating for you will increase if you continue to meet them, and as players level up they can also unlock new perks and can equip up to three in a match which includes improved first-time shot ability, increased dribbling abilities and better physical strength.

Additionally, in both Manager and Career mode, the top-rated or longest-serving players in a team can end up being celebrated by fans with custom tifo displays. This includes generated ones too.

FIFA 22 will be available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Stadia.

A mighty, yet completely-needed multi-year project that will change Football Manager forever

SEGA and Sports Interactive have announced they have begun the process of integrating Women’s football into the popular video game, Football Manager.

Both companies have stressed this does not mean they are making a standalone women’s football video game or a standalone women’s Football Manager, rather have women’s football fully integrated into the game, with players being able to manage both men and women’s teams.

The Importance of Women’s Football in Football Manager

The announcement for the decision was uploaded in a blog on Football Manager’s official website by the studio director, Mike Johnson, in which he lists the importance of what they are trying to do:

There’s no hiding that there’s currently a glass ceiling for women’s football and we want to do what we can to help smash through it. We believe in equality for all and we want to be part of the solution. We want to be a part of the process that puts women’s football on an equal footing with the men’s game.

We know that we’re not alone in this – the historic TV deal that Sky and the BBC recently agreed with WSL in England is proof of that – but we intend to do everything we can to get women’s football to where it deserves to be. We know that our voice is very powerful and we want to use it for good.

Longer term, as the women’s game grows in popularity, the financial rewards may come, but at the moment we’re embarking on this journey because we know it’s the right thing to do. – Mike Johnson.

The piece of news also follows after it was announced women’s football legend Alex Scott will be the first female commentator on FIFA 22.

There is no set date for when women’s football will be added to the series, yet it will be “as soon as realistically as possible”. Sports Interactive has also promised the women’s football content is being handled with the same level of care as the men’s. This means a sheer level of work will be required to bring women’s football into Football Manager, some of which has already been started as stated in the blog.

The company has started to completely recreate all existing men’s motion capture with the help of twin professional footballers Rosie and Mollie Kmita, who provided the perfect solution thanks to already being in the same COVID bubble. Improving in-game female 3D models, incorporating women’s football’s unique league rules and transfer and wage structures, and rewriting roughly 3,000,000 words of in-game text across 19 languages are just the other changes SEGA and Sports Interactive have set out to make.

This is by no means an easy task, yet it is something that couldn’t come soon enough for all women’s football fans and football gamers alike.

Big news today from the world of FIFA as EA Sports announce that women’s football legend Alex Scott will be featured as a commentator in the soon-to-be-released FIFA 22! She is set to become the famous franchise’s first-ever English-speaking female commentator.

During her playing career, Scott was a five-time Premier League winner and a seven-time FA Cup winner with Arsenal, a runner up in the Women’s Euros and a member of the England team that finished third in the 2015 Women’s World Cup, making 140 appearances for her country.

“This is a big moment for FIFA, for football and women and girls across the world,” said Alex Scott, speaking earlier today. “Representation is crucial and the inclusion of an English-speaking female commentator on FIFA is game-changing. The impact it will have is simply stratospheric”.

Scott currently plies her trade on the BBC, having provided expert punditry on the channel’s recently concluded Euro 2020 coverage and is set to take over the anchor role on Football Focus this year.

EA Sports are yet to confirm whether gamers will be able to play as women’s club teams, having been able to play only as women’s international teams in recent iterations of the iconic football game.

Whilst football fans around the globe count down the days till the start of the new season, EA treated us to some more information at E3 yesterday to keep us going.
