Whilst debunking any leaked Silent Hill concepts…
We recently reported that Bloober Team had three ongoing projects listed for the Creative European Project Grant in the European Union. Well, studio CMO Tomasz Gawlikowski has shed some light on these projects in a recent interview with IGN.
Gawlikowski firstly confirmed that H20 did, in fact, become Layers of Fear 2 and not a potential Layers of Fear 3 title, as some had speculated.
In regards to the projects listed as Black and Dum Spiro, Gawlikowski confirmed these are actual games. However, the project descriptions listed are outdated and inaccurate.
“After numerous iterations of Dum Spiro, we’ve concluded we can’t at the moment deliver it in a form that is appropriately sensitive to the topic and commercially viable at the same time,” he clarifies. “In short, Dum Spiro is no longer in active development at the moment. Similarly, the initial idea for Black has also been shelved, and while we’re still developing a game under this codename, it’s now a much different project than what you could read on the web in the past few days.”
He also denied that a Silent Hill game was in production, contrary to rumours circulating recently. The Silent Hill speculation came with Bloober’s newfound partnership with Silent Hill publisher Konami. However, Gawlikowski says that one title is in production while one is in pre-production, and both “are going to be bigger in scope than The Medium; however, neither of them is based on themes or premises that have been circulating online in the last few days.”
Gawlikowski didn’t specify whether Black is the game currently in production or how its collaborative projects with Konami – which we know will include new and existing IP – fit into the big picture. From what Gawlikowski explained, it feels likely that the game in production is the new version of the game codenamed Black, while the game in pre-production is the Konami partnership project. In any case, we likely won’t see either game for quite some time.
