Cult classic Sports game Parody “Blase Ball” is returning on November 1st with simplified mechanics in an attempt to encourage new players to pick up the game.
What is Blaseball?
Uh…. yeah about that. Blaseball is a fantasy sports baseball simulation that runs through your browser. Thats what it is, like, objectively. It also an absurdists paradise of players with 87 fingers, blood rain and rules where the most popular team in the last season have to run an extra base every match. What Blaseball is and How Blaseball is are often 2 different things entirely. Athletes can Be incinerated, resurrected from the dead via necromancy, and at least one “athlete” is a pitching machine. and another is a biblically accurate Angel. I mean very recently the whole game disappeared into a black hole, so…
Blaseball simulated sports are actually in a cool little cycle with the fanbase, as fans write fanfiction that becomes cannon and design the characters to the point where whats dev intended and what the community made has become unclear.
What is short circuits
Show Circuits is the upcoming season of Blaseball and is going to be less of a single overarching league (like real baseball) and more a series of pocket universes that act as minigames.
Short Circuits will take place over 2 weeks, with a whole season of Blaseball a week, and will have a simplified betting and election system over the Blaseball we all first learned of back in 2020 during the lockdowns, which *should* help things be more understandable for new players.
I should note this isn’t the future for Baseball, this is just a temporary event. The developers, The Game Brand will be sending out surveys to players upon completion to try to ascertain if the changes work for the game. Normal service will resume… Eventually? Again, whole site got sucked into a black hole we… we dont know anymore.
