As part of Genshin Impact’s new Labyrinth Event, MiHoYo has released a limited-time web game.
Yummy! Barbeque Under the Stars is Genshin’s latest event is a cooking minigame that can be played via your internet browser. Players earn in-game items and highly-coveted primogems by playing through the web event with Xinyan and Childe. It’s a relaxing break from the intense Labyrinth Warrior event, with beautiful music and cute illustrations of Childe fishing.
In the minigame, you cook different types of fish with varying levels of seasoning. There are blissfully few instructions, and it’s primarily up to you to play around and discover different outcomes. I haven’t done so well so far. I’m not sure Childe will be impressed by my cooking.
But it’s okay! I can mess up as much as I want, and Childe will keep bringing me fish like the good malewife he is.
To earn the other materials for cooking (firewood and seasoning), you’ll have to complete in-game tasks such as spending 40 resin. Most of us who play regularly probably do these things anyway, so it’s nothing to worry about.
While I’m not too bothered about scoring a few extra primos and some measly mora, I think the event is charming, and I’m happy to log in to see Childe fish out a flip-flop or hilichurl mask. The dialogue between Paimon, Xinyan, and Shiki Taishou is also sweet.
The event is on until November 7th, so there’s still some time to get Childe to bring you a fair few fish.
The grilled fish can then be gifted to Shiki Taishou, the cute little paper guy players meet during the Labyrinth Warriors event. I’m not sure what a piece of paper wants with grilled fish, but gifting him the fish unlocks rewards such as experience books, weapon enhancement ores, mora, crystal cores, and primogems.
