After the Success of Among Us last year, the “Hidden traitor” genre, there have been a lot of other games that have shown up to try to fill in their own niches, such as NewBloods “Unfortunate spacemen”, which brings FPS elements into the concept, or Fortnites “imposter Mode” which was accused of shamelessly ripping off Among Us. Now, Korean Developer Mumo Studios is throwing their own hat in the ring with Dubium, which was announced last week.
Mumo Studio have previously worked as support on some other large games, Such as Black Desert Online and Dead to Rights, however “Dubium” is to be the studios First original title. The game will pitch you as “Frontiers” or “traitors”, who fit into the standard “Ally/traitor” dynamic that these games tend to work with. Frontiers will Aim to repair solar panels so they can escape a doomed Space station, while traitors will undo their hard work and take out the frontiers one by one.
Mumo Studios have revealed that the game will have a kickstarter up at some point in the next month, for those who want to back the games development, and also a close beta will be available through the studios website. Dubium will be coming to steam early access in 2022, with no current Knowledge of whether the game will be on consoles.
The main difference between Among us and Dubium seems to be the gadget system. Players can take Gadgets between games and upgrade them using rewards gained through gameplay, allowing for a degree if buildcrafting and player expression in how they play the game. The game will also feature some level of twitch integration, allowing viewers of streams to controle what the streamer does, or just to give suggestions. Finally, the game features voicelines to aid in communication if people are from around the world and maybe dont all speak english.
