MiHoYo has risen to prominence in the gaming industry over the past year, thanks to the enormous success of Genshin Impact, released in September 2020. The game has turned huge profits during the year and a half since its release, and is keeping up its momentum with Genshin Impact 2.5 coming soon – bringing with it the highly anticipated Yae Miko.

In the second half of Genshin 2.5, we’ll be seeing Raiden Shogun and Kokomi reruns. It seems the 2.5 update will be all about Inazuma! Is there anyone you plan on pulling for? I’m still saving my primos for Kazuha, who will hopefully be rejoining us in Genshin 2.6…
Anyhow, we do have bigger fish to fry for today’s blog.
MiHoYo are completely rebranding as HoYoverse, along with new plans for expansion. They’ve launched a new website and shared details in a press release there. Here, they shared their commitment to quality and their mission statement:
“Our mission in establishing HoYoverse is to create a vast and content-driven virtual world that integrates games, anime, and other diverse types of entertainment, which will provide players with a high level of freedom and immersion. We will continue to focus on long-term operation strategies, consistent technical research, and innovation in a variety of fields, including artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and pipeline construction, to ensure that sufficient content is created to meet the expectations of players worldwide for a virtual world experience.” (Haoyu Cai, co-founder and CEO of HoYoverse.)
They also plan to expand operations to offices in Montreal, Los Angeles, Singapore, Tokyo, and Seoul.
Considering the levels of Genshin Impact’s success, an expansion such as this was somewhat inevitable. I wouldn’t be surprised to see more animanga-inspired content from them in the future.
