A few days ago, New World discovered multiple duping exploits within the game and therefore, they were forced to temporarily switch off the in game economy because of this discovery. Players were able to essentially create multiple of high-value items in the game like trophies and even in-game gold.
After players took advantage of the economy or an earlier exploit, it appears that Amazon Games are taking these actions very seriously. Players were able to find through, packet manipulation, a bug which enables players to duplicate in-game coin and resources. It was stated by community manager Luxendra in a recent blog that “A similar attack against a different game system was also recently used in housing.”
The post proceeds to apologise to the majority of players who have not participated in duping within the game, who had to be affected by the downtime and flood of stuff into the economy. Amazon Games also investigated how deep the impact of the exploit was. They believe that there wasn’t a “significant uptick” in high-level gear. In terms of the housing exploit, the developer said its still working through the list of items that were involved in that exploit. It appears that it is ready to wield the permaban-hammer as appropriate.
At the end of the post, the company promised further retributive action as Amazon Games works through everything that happened. “While it took some time to investigate and track down where the duped items were funneled, or telemetry tracks all of these transactions, so rest assured we can find and will find all the bad actors.”
