Double Fine, the developers of the Psychonauts series, have stated they will be working on multiple projects moving on from the release of Psychonauts 2.
A recent update from the team on the funding platform Fig, the team reveal that they will be moving on from Psychonauts 2 to newer projects.
With the series’ debut in 2005 both games have had an overwhelmingly positive review according to the PC store Steam, alongside VGC’s review of the sequel calling the game “one of the most memorable platformers in years.” However Tim Schafer, the CEO of Double Fine Productions, have stated the team wants to work on something original and “completely surprising”, with plans to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
Schafer also stated that though “there was a period at the end of Psychonauts 2 where [they] had all hands on deck to finish the game, but definitely going back to multiple projects afterwards. ”
