Anyone looking for some work? ID Software are hiring. Their parent company ZeniMax have posted a list of new job vacancies which is sending the internet into a frenzy. This is because people reckon they’re working on a new Quake game. All aboard the hype train now.

Wishful thinking? Perhaps. Only ZeniMax have insisted that the new positions in their Dallas studios will be supporting “the development of a long-running iconic FPS”. Not only this, but it seems that it will also feature “sci-fiand fantasy environments”. Call us crazy here, but we thinking that might have something to do with Quake, no?

As Avanche leads on the RAGE franchise and Wolfenstein is property of Machine Games, it only leaves Doom and Quake as ID’s potential management. Since Doom had an instalment last year, it is much more likely that we’re going to see another Quake entry. It’s clear why people are getting excited. Nevertheless, we musn’t get ahead of ourselves. New Quake Game Will Make Fans Go Wild

It seems that its all an important time in the Quake Universes history too. The original game is set to celebrate its 25th anniversary next year. Not only this, but there has also been an enhanced edition of it recently released. This shows that the series must be on the minds of its new parent company Microsoft.

This enhanced edition of the original Quake is now available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series XXbox Series S, and Nintendo Switch. It will have updated visuals and combine both online and local multiplayer. Similarly, it will give fans new content with two expansions for the original game also included. This is what Quake developer John Romero had to say on the matter:

“I knew the game was going to do really well. For a whole year before it came out, there were articles all over the place and magazine covers – everyone was waiting for Quake. People knew it was going to be the next thing. So it was great to have that kind of hype. When it came out and everybody was playing it, it was great for me because I was putting together a new company, and you always want to have a success when you’re trying to do that.

“The negatives were that I didn’t actually get any money from Quake because I was gone, but the positives were that I got to leave after making a really successful game.”

We can only hope another addition to the Quake series will be just as fantastic!
